"I need you all to stay here. They don't need to know that I brought Susan here no that I summoned a god. It would not be good if they found out. I'll be back when it's over." Jim said as he got up from the table and exited the room. Upon entering the main chamber a flashing light could be seen with a door that had not been there before. "Here goes" Jim says to himself as he opens the newly appeared door. Upon entering the room he took it all in, he had never been in this room before. He did not even know when the last time a conference of guardians was held. The room looked like a large meeting room with a table and several spots of chairs. There was however only one chair. "I guess this is where I sit." Jim walked over and got into the chair. His mind was then transported through space into a pocket dimension where he could clearly see the other guardians sitting in their chairs, everything in the room was the same there were just more chairs. A few guardians were already there, the fairy and dwarven guardians.
"Hello guardian of the gods. I am Mary, guardian of the fairy realm." Mary said to introduce herself. She was of a small stature like Susan couldn't have stood more than five feet, though Jim could not be sure since they were sitting down. She had blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
"Hola, gaurdián de los dioses. Mi nombre es Hector ." Hector introduced himself in his native language which threw Jim off. Jim only spoke English and did not understand what was said. Hector was a short shout Latino man with dark hair, brown skin, and brown eyes.
Mary responding to Jims baffled look chimes in, "He said Hello guardian of the gods. My name is Hector." Mary looks to Hector, "Puedes hablar ingles, Hector?"
"Si, I can speak many languages, if you want to speak English I will speak English." Hector replied. Both Mary and Hector turned to Jim at this point and waited for a response.
"Oh right, Hi I'm Jim, nice to meet you guardians of the fairies and dwarves." Jim said while smiling, trying to be as friendly as possible.
"I'm sure you are all aware that the guardian of the underworld has failed." Mary said with a grim look on her face. "I do not know how many years the door when unguarded, but its seal was broken and it brought ruin upon the world. There is nothing here in England. Only devastation and despair remain." Mary beings of tear up. "That's being said I think we guardians are the only ones left. There is no keeper of the underworld. Otherwise the seal would have never broken." Mary wipes her eyes and turns to Hector. "What is the scene where you are Hector?"
"The fog did not make it here. Although people here are having a hard time adjusting to the end of the world. We still have power, food, and all the basic needs though so I think we can consider ourselves here in Chile very lucky." Hector turns to Jim. "How about where you are Jim?"
"Here on the east coast the fog has destroyed everything. Only zombies and demon beasts remain. However it seems the fog stopped a few hundred miles west of here, so the vast majority of the USA remains intact. I have not been able to venture far from my temple so I cannot tell you much more." Jim answered.
"Sounds like you have to rough as well Jim." Mary said while looking at Jim. "Is that how your shirt got ripped?" Mary had noticed that Jim's shirt was town down the center exposing his chest. She quite enjoyed the sight but was concerned how magical garments could be ripped like that.
"Ya I had to tangle with a demon beast and it almost got the better of me. If not for our magical garments I certainly would have been a goner." Jim said while making his best poker face. Jim was really hoping that Mary would buy that story, he did not want to tell them about Astros.
"I don't know how I would have survived, I am happy you pulled through Jim." Mary said with a smile. "On to the topic at hand. I have no supplies. I have no way to get supplies. I had my temple stocked in case of emergency but I never expected the end of the world." Mary turns to Hector. "Can you send me supplies Hector? Your part of the world is still alive, it shouldn't be too hard for you to gather some extra food and supplies."
"Sure amiga, I got you." Hector told Mary. "I will just need the details on the rune in your mess hall and I will transfer food right away. Jim do you need some as well?" Asked Hector.
"At the moment I am good. I got lucky and found a dooms day preppers house near by, it had enough food for years." Jim responded.
"Now that has been settled lets talk about the elephant in the room. What do we do next." Mary said with a serious look. "I am sure you have all read the book about sealing the realms? You all know that we can use a spell to seal the gate and rid the world of magic. That we all must agree. I vote no."
"No, really?" Asked Hector. "Why? Don't you see the horrors magic has brought the world? This world does not need magic, I vote we seal it."
"With only 3 guardians left we cannot have a tie. Jim you have the final say. Do you want the world to have magic or do you want to end magic?" Mary asked while looking directly into Jim's eyes.
Jim thought about the past two weeks and all he had learned about magic and how useful it all was. He thought if there was any chance to help restore the world it would be through magic. Not to mention he wanted to bring back Susan's kids as fairies and would need magic in the world for that to happen. "We should open the gates. Earth, wind, and fire magic would be very helpful in rebuilding the world. Now that the magical tidal wave is over the only continuing threat of the underworld is from its denizens, which if we have attack magic we should be able to handle, not to mention America still has a lot of its military might. We have the ability to repel the invading underworld forces."
"And what of your door Jim? If magic is to be unsealed every door has to be opened. Or rather it will open itself given enough time." Questioned Mary.
"My door has to be opened last and we need to wait as long as possible before we do. Gods are the single greatest threat to what is left of mankind. Maybe the fairies or dwarves know a way to keep the door sealed longer. I suspect the gods are the reason for the sealing in the first place." Jim sternly explained.
"Sounds to me like you have experience with gods Jim." Mary said to Jim.
"No, no experience, just a hunch is all." Jim replied. He was starting to feel like Mary was figuring him out. "My family has always been the guardians of the gods and that just gives us like a sixth sense towards them." Jim said trying to cover himself.
"So it will take a few months for enough magic to leak out for us to open the doors, which door between dwarves or fairies should be open first?" Asked Mary.
"Logically I would open the fairy door. You said you are in England which was completely devastated so we run no risk of the fairies interacting with people. Plus their magic may help restore the land. Mary do you think they will be friendly?" Asked Jim.
"Sounds logically, Jim. As for their friendliness I couldn't say. According to the legends my family has passed down, fairies are more playful than anything. As long as you don't cross one that is. Apparently if you cross a fairy it will become full of rage and be as an unstoppable force." Mary responded to Jim. "Hector I would like your take as well." Said Mary as she turned to Hector.
"Sounds good to me, I need more time to prepare for the dwarves anyway. They are known in the legends to be hard working, they do however love to party. We will need a lot of alcohol here before we open the gate." Hector replied.
"That settles it. We open the fairy, then the dwarf, and then the god door if we cannot find a way to keep it sealed." Mary then turned serious again. "We have another issue. Since we have decided we are restoring magic to this world we need to let the general population that is left know as well. We need to become their leaders. We should use our magic and knowledge to win them over and support us." Mary thinks for a moment. "Of course this only applies to you two. I have no one here left to lead, only hordes of the undead. If that's everything we will call this meeting adjourned and reconvene in two months time. I wish you both good luck in your endeavors to win over the populace." Mary then turns to Hector again. "Hector please stay after so that I may share the details of my mess hall rune with you."
Just then Jim's mind was transported back into his body. "Whoa that is weird." Jim said to himself as he got up. "I have to tell Susan and Astros about the meeting." As he exited the room back into the main chamber he saw Susan and Astros waiting for him. "I thought I told y'all to wait in the mess hall."
"We grew concerned darling you were gone for awhile." Astros said while trying to make puppy dog eyes at Jim.
"So what did they say?" Asked Susan.
"We believe the underworld guardian most have died long ago and that's what caused the apocalypse." Jim explained.
"And?" Asked Susan again.
"We decided to let the world have magic and to not seal it. We are going to open the doors, fairy then dwarf, then god unless we can find a way to keep the god door closed." Jim further explained.
"What don't want my kind rampaging amuck darling?" Asked Astros. "Just don't know how to have a good time do you?" Astros said with a smile.
"Your idea of a good time is what scares me Astros." Jim answered.
"What else? I know there's something else your not telling us jim." Susan said.
"We have to… We have to take over what is left of the world." Jim said sombly.
"Oh darling! You do know how to have a good time!" Astros yelled.
