Chapter 4: The crafting chapter

With the quests completed there's a cool down for when I can take them again. So I thought of experimenting with [General Crafting], in the free workshops the guild provides in the second floor. Looking out the window, before I begin, I realize that the sun is setting. Everyday in DFO is only 6 hours long, so I've been here for only half a day now.

I set up the alchemy set thinking that it would be used in potion making. I was wrong, alchemy has nothing to do with potion making . Instead chemistry handles all potion making. So setting up the chemistry set it has a magic burner to heat things up, various sizes of flasks to keep things in, a stand, and things to hold things to the stand.

I didn't know which herb makes potions so I just used the green herb. After heating the herb up in water for 10 minutes and realizing nothing was happening, I knew that I did something wrong. So I just started mixing herbs together with the water, and I finally made a potion. All I needed to combine was the green herb and red herbs together. This is the result:

<>

A potion brewed by a novice chemist. Heals for 25 LP.

Cool down: 25 seconds

Sell value: 100 Scales

It heals more LP when compared to the Beginner Potions I have. Those only heal for 10 and there cool down is 40 seconds. So I made for better potions. Now that I know how to make a potion I wondered if I could make any other healing items. So I ground down both the green and red herbs into a fine powder. Then added them together with very little amounts of water, and stirred them. If I didn't stir them they would burn and ruin the experiment. After 5 minutes I had a sort of mush I thought of forming the mush in to ball shapes. After doing that I ended up with this:

<>

A pill made by a novice chemist. Adds Regeneration effect for 1 minutes. Regeneration heals for 2 LP per second.

Cool down: 2 minutes

Sell value: 1000 Scales

I made quite the powerful healing item, I wonder what an expert pill would look like. I made 10 more novice potions and 5 more novice pills. Now I wanted to see what alchemy could do. So I set up the alchemy set, it had a whole rainbow of chalk, and a book with transmutation circles in it. I thought that the bones might make for quite the experiment. I drew the transmutation circle for combining things together then put 2 Wild Dog Bones into the centre of the circle. Activating it took 5% of my mana and made this:

<>

An ingot made from bones. Harder and stronger than Iron. Usually made into weapons by primitive tribes.

Working level: 1

Sell Value: 200 Scales

It seemed that I could put these bones to use. I immediately used up all the bones in making ingots, so I ended up with 25 bone ingots. I then used it on the furs and ended up with this:

<>

A big fur. Capable of being used in making armour. Hard and strong as Leather.

Working level: 1

Sell value: 100 Scales

I made some more and ultimately ended up with 30 Big Furs. I didn't think of using anymore alchemy, so my alchemy session was put to an end. I now was in a dilemma I could use my blacksmithing set to make another dagger, or I could use the tailor set to make some better armour. I ended up agonizing overs this for half an hour. Before ultimately settling on making more daggers.

I used the blacksmith set to heat up the ingots to reshape them. I tried hammering in a rhythm to see if it would affect the end product. I continued this for 10 minutes before ending up with a jagged looking dagger.

<>

A dagger that seems to have been made by an Orc blacksmith. Has an incredible cutting edge and pointed tip. Curved slightly to make slashing at opponents easier. Deals extra slash damage.

Attack +4

Sell Value: 2'300 Scales

It seems that I made quite the dagger, with the damage being double my iron dagger, I knew I was going to make another one for dual wielding. I made another one and didn't know what to make next so I set up my tailor set to make armour.

It was easier to make the armour than the daggers, as all I had to do was stitch the Big Furs together with me body measurements. I ended up making bone arm guards and bone reinforced shoes. This is the results:

<>

Made from fur big enough to cover the human body several times. Has been reinforced with many layers leaving it as strong as light-heavy armour. Provides a Cold Resistance buff and renders slashing attack ineffective.

Defence +10

Sell value: 5'000 Scales

<>

A helm made from fur. Has been reinforced with many layers leaving it as strong as light-heavy armour. Provides a Cold Resistance buff and provides a resistance to bash damage.

Defence +4

Sell Value: 2'300

<>

Boots made from fur. Has been reinforced with bone ingots to make them as hard as steel. Provides a Cold Resistance buff and buffs kick attacks.

Defence +3

Sell Value: 1'950

I made quite excellent amour for myself. The cool down on the quests should have even completed by now. So I begin packing up and heading down to the quest board.
