Chapter 3

The inside of the Adventurer's Guild had two large boards, on either side of the building. At the front was a large receptionist desk and in between there and the entrance was a myriad of tables and chairs.

Rudolf pulled me along to register with the Guild. All I had to do was right my character's name down and lift my hand to a magic item, and then we were done. Afterwards Rudolf pulled me along to get my starting gear and equipment. We picked up quite a bit, this is what we picked up:

1 Iron Dagger (+3 Attack)

1 Cloth Clothing set (+2 Vitality)

1 Iron Ring (+1 Intelligence)

10 Beginner Potions

5 Magic Potions

1 Woodworking Set

1 Blacksmith Set

1 Alchemist Set

1 Chemist Set

1 Chef Set

1 Tailor Set

1 Stonemason Set

1 Gemcutter Set

1 Farmer Set

1 Enchanter Set

1 Leatherworker Set

1 Breeder Set

1 Glassworker Set

1 Carpenter Set

By the end of it I was broke with only 21 Scales, for reference the starting amount was 10'000 Scales.

Rudolf: Well good luck with progression. I have a party I need to get back to. I have faith that you'll have fun playing, so bye for now.

After that we waved each other good bye. I had to go back to the guild in order to take quests for experience and money.

Arriving in front of the quest board I realized how few quests I could take on. My rank in the guild scales with my job level, so I'm rank J right now. I could only see seven jobs that fit my rank, three of them were out due to having to leave for the capital. So that left me with four jobs to take on, those being:

<>

Kill 10 Horn Rabbits

Rewards: 2 Guild Points (Job Exp), 1000 Scales

<>

Kill 20 Wild Dogs

Rewards: 4 GP (Guild Points), 1250 Scales

<>

Kill 30 Mad Beasts

Rewards: 6 Gp, 2 Magic Stones

<>

Collect 20 Green Herbs

Rewards: 4 GP, 500 Scales

All of these jobs were repeatable with no time limit on when to complete it by. After asking why the Wild Dogs and Mad Beast kill quest was much higher, the answer I got was that they didn't provide anything for the city and were just pests. Accepting them was a simple matter just go up to the receptionist and have them process it through.

Now came my biggest challenge finding the Western Exit. I have no sense of direction so this took me longer than I would like to admit. After finding the exit I was greeted by the sight of player killing only Horn Rabbits, I guess they found out pretty early on that the Mad Beasts and Wild Dogs don't drop anything useful for them. So I went searching for herbs in the meantime.

The green herb was quite rare after searching for 5 minutes I only found 10, the most common herb was this weird blue one. All the herbs looked exactly like maple leafs growing out of the ground in a rainbow of colours. The colour I've seen the least of would be the green herb, while the most common would be red herb and purple herb. It took me an extra 5 minutes to get all 20 green herbs, during that time I took all the other herbs to test Chemistry on as Alchemy was to do with metals and chemistry was with herbs.

Now my massacre of the Wild Dog and Mad Beast population was to begin. I quickly found a Wild Dog, it was half my height with a dark brown coat of fur. It's eyes were bloodshot red all the way through. Graping my dagger, in my right hand, I waited for it to attack. It jumped towards me, I quickly sidestep to the right and stab my dagger into its eye.

[Sound of a dog barking]

It barked and jumped around once it's eye was rendered useless. I chased after it and stabbed it's neck, killing it. The fight was easy, the only thing left to do is stab my Dismantling Knife into it. I managed to get Wild Dog Fur, and Wild Dog Bones. I decided to check out their descriptions.

<>

Fur from a wild dog. It is unusually soft and light, but not very durable. Often used in decorations.

Sell Value: 15 Scales

<>

Bones from a wild dog. Large and hard, but brittle. Often used as disposable arrowheads.

Sell Value: 20 Scales

After seeing the descriptions I could see why the guild just sees them as pests. Just from feeling the bones you know they would break if you tried hard enough. Now all I have to do is kill enough of them. Mad Beasts and Horn Rabbits attack the same way as a Wild Dog, so they were no harder to fight. It took me about an hour to hunt everything and gather all the loot, in total I got:

20 Wild Dog Furs

20 Wild Dog Bones

10 Rabbit Horns

10 Horn Rabbit Furs

10 Horn Rabbit Meat

30 Mad Beast Fangs

30 Mad Beast Claws

30 Mad Beast Bones

30 Mad Beast Fur

My inventory was full of different crafting materials. On a side note every 1 con means I get 5 inventory slots, so I have 125 inventory slots each can hold 999 of a single item. So counting all the herbs and sets I have filled up 32 inventory slots leaving me 93 inventory slots, as equipment has its own space.

Saying that I picked up some random rocks to see what it's description would be.

<>

A rock picked up off the ground. If polished may become a gem, ore, or just a polished rock.

It was strange to say the least I never thought to polish a random rock I found on the ground. Well nevermind then. I head straight to the Guild to hand in my quests. After doing that I gained 16 job exp. Almost a full level up, I wonder why they said this job is hard.
