My compliment didn't affect her?

Rahul's POV

It's her the Angry bird....Did she come here to apologies for what had happened yesterday? Ohhh... C'mon who am I kidding she is the feisty angry bird. She won't let go of her pride. But I am known to make the impossible possible. No one gets anyway just like that after insulting me. I smirked.

Then, I realised that she was here for the interview. Great! Perfect time for the perfect revenge. I noticed that once she met my eyes her face turned pale and I knew that she was thinking about something.

She should be probably, regretting what had happened yesterday.

While she was lost for a moment, I took that opportunity to check her out. She didn't dress anything like the previous women that I had interviewed a while ago.

She was not even wearing a dress.

Her skin was covered more than needed with a black slack pant, a navy blue button-up shirt and a coat over it. She was also wearing her flats. By a single glance, I could say that she was indeed different from the others who came here earlier.

Hmmm...quite professional.

Then, she strode towards me, and just as when I thought she was going to act all mad and angry over me and create a scene in my office for what happened yesterday, she surprised me by greeting me.

Wait!! What?... She doesn't remember me? That's impossible, no girl could ever forget me and it's just been a day after we met. Or is she trying to play smart? I had an evil smirk on my face.

Guess what I am gonna give you a taste of your own medicine angry bird.

I chose not to talk about yesterday's incident.

I asked her to sit down and went through her resume. So....her name is Diya. Nice name for a bad person.

Then I asked her why should I offer her the job out of all those who came for the interview this morning. Even though, I knew that she was way better than them. I just wanted to see this tigeress becoming a poor kitten while answering my questions.

But that feisty angry bird managed to answer my question confidently. Smarty. While she was answering me her face was quite close to me and that's when I took a closer look at her face.

Her skin was smooth with fair complexion. She had high cheekbones, a sharp nose and a perfect jaw. Plus, she was not wearing any makeup. She had natural beauty. Suddenly, I narrowed my eyes once the bruise on her forehead got my sight.

What happened? How did she get that bruise? She didn't have that bruise yesterday!

I was confused, I wanted to ask about the injury but I restrained myself from doing that. I didn't want to intrude her privacy.

Then, her fake cough brought me back to reality.

" Ms Sharma how much salary would you expect from this job if you are appointed? " I questioned her emphasizing the 'if' while smirking.

" Mr Ranawat, you can decide how much you would want to pay me after noticing my work. I wouldn't have any complaint about the salary, 'if' I get appointed." she answered coolly.

Ok, I am impressed with her answer.

"Ok, you are appointed Ms Sharma"

But that doesn't mean that I will let you go that easily after messing with me. Welcome to the hell Diya.

" Its ok Mr Ranawat, it was a pleasure meeting yo.." before she could finish her sentence she realised what I had just said.

I smirk at her but she only had a blank expression. But I could sense that she was not expecting that from me.

Take that.

I chuckled at her

" Uhm...Thank you for offering me the job Mr Ranawat" she said with an awkward smile.

" Be here sharply around 9.00 a.m tomorrow. It was nice meeting you Ms Sharma" I said while thinking about all the ways that I could use to teach her a lesson.

She gave me a nod and stood up from her chair and went for the doorknob.

" By the way, you looked good with the beanie yesterday," I said with a chuckle.

Although I wanted to make it clear that I didn't forget what had happened yesterday by saying that, it wasn't a complete lie. She actually did look cute with the beanie.

Wait she is cute? What am I saying?

But that was a true compliment though. I was expecting her to blush or flutter her eyelashes after hearing my compliment. Girls usually do that when I compliment them. I chuckled inwardly. But she surprised me once again, she just had a damn blank face. She gave me a nod and exited my office swiftly.

Uh? No girl as ever ignored my compliment. What does she think of herself?

That hurt my ego very badly. I was pissed off because of that.

Just wait and watch how I break your pride, Diya Sharma. Just. Wait. And. Watch.

I smiled evilly.

Diya's POV

After a 30 minutes ride, I finally reached my apartment. Coming in, I kicked off my boots, took off my coat and sat on the sofa lazily with my head resting on top of the sofa's cushion. I shut my eyes and started enjoying the solitude.

That's when I heard Khushi's voice.

"Diya!!!!... How was the interview? How did you answer the question? Did you get the job?" as usual she asked all that question in one breath.

" I got the job Khushi," I said nonchalantly.

" What are you saying Diya! I can't believe my ears. I am soooooo happy for you Diya!" she said while giving me a teddy bear hug. I am not a fan of hugs but I don't resist them.

" C' mon Diya...are you not happy about it?" I just gave her a nonchalant shrug. I didn't want to tell her about my new boss, she would be worried about it. So I just lied to her.

" It's nothing Khushi, I am just a bit nervous. Nothing else" I said giving her a smile.

" You sure nothing else Diya?". "Yeah nothing else Khushi"

Owh...I feel really bad lying to her. Ugh!

I cursed myself for doing that but I don't wanna ruin her moment.

" Then what are you waiting for, let's celebrate this. Wait, let me call Dave, Steven and Ria. Let's celebrate this tonight." Khushi said while clapping both of her hands in excitement.

Dave, Steven and Ria were my classmates but now they are my buddies. We survived four years of med school having each others back. They were always there when I needed them. They got to know a lot about me within these four years which even my parents failed to do.

" But Khushi I think they already went back to their respective place and I also don't want to waste their time" after I finished saying that Khushi gave me an angry glare.

" Diya, spending time with you and celebrating your happiness is not a waste of time for us," she said sternly.

" But". " No butts Diya, we are gonna celebrate it and that's final and they will be here around 7.00 p.m ". I couldn't resist her.

I really like my friends, they have started to become more understanding of me. I have no idea how they crept into my lonely world but the have made a place in my life. Throughout my entire school life, I had been an outcast and no one had the will to be my friend. They just kept on calling me a weirdo and made me become isolated.

But these guys are so sweet, they accepted me the way I was and treated me as one of them. They know that I have a lot of trust issues, it's really difficult for me to trust someone or even let them pass my wall. But they continued doing what they were doing to gain my trust.

I blame myself for not trusting them completely but what am I suppose to do, I don't want to get hurt.

I sighed. I hope one day I develop the courage to trust them. I really hope so.

I am grateful to have them in my life.
