Always At The Broken End Of The Stick!

Because the Li's were the third most powerful family in A city, no one tried to harbour evil thoughts.

Aizhe knew it was unwise to get to know the Li family members. It was more unwise to try to speak or put a hand on their matters.

Back in the village, Aizhe was not afraid of anyone or she never looked into the warning signs. But sitting, on this round table, surrounded by the spiteful looks amongst these 'family' members, Aizhe knew it was not the time to show her best.

Looking at her state, Mr. Li stood up to clear the situation.

Looking at everyone with his fiery, but calm gaze, he cleared his throat and spoke out with a deep and resounding voice.

"Since Aizhe is here, lets start with the formalities.

Aizhe, I have invited the west side, the Cheng's, which is Meng's family members and the east, the Ning's, which is your elder cousins wife's, Zias mother's family members. " Mr. Li approached the matter calmly while he explained to Aizhe.

"Since everyone is here, I have decided to throw a welcome party for my niece, Aizhe."

"Not long ago, my father has passed away and he left us with his precious gem, Aizhe. I have seen my downfall and my rise for the past 20 years in this country and in between that I forgot my family, my people and my own blood. Might be late, but now, I have come to accept the reality and will try to fix my mistakes.

"Starting from today, I have decided to include Aizhe into my family. She is now a pure 'Li'. She will be given equal rights to that of Chen and Lina. No one should have any objections, right? If you do, please bring it up now"

Hearing the long speech, everyone swallowed back their words. Their eyes were filled with venom and they all glared daggers at Aizhe. They couldn't believe their ears. They want to speak up, but had no sort of authority to do that. They slumped back in their seat as they look down.

Just as the matters were settled and Mr.Li cleared his throat to continue, Lina shrieky tone, filled with displeasure resounded out.

"Dad, how could we, the Li's, give our shares and house to this low and mannerless girl? We can't accept that!" Lina's word were exactly that of all the other family members words. They all started to hesitantly nod in their heads.

"Lina!" Mr.Li turned around and glared at her. "If I could, I would have sent you back to the same village as Aizhe. Atleast you wouldn't be standing infront of me, telling me what I should be doing!" He spoke up with an authorized tone with Lina.

Walking forward, Aizhe helplessly looked at her uncle and sighed. She took his hands and spoke out really low.

Why was she becoming the slaughtering goat all of a sudden?

"Uncle, I don't need anything, you don't have to give me tiny bit of your wealth. As long as I can have my uncle Hua's support and have a place to call home, I totally fine!" She nervously spoke up.

"No! I am going to throw a party next week, and the whole world will see and remember that day. Thats it! End of discussion!" With tha last sentence, he turned around and left the dining room.

The first thing that greeted Aizhe after Mr. Li left was all the ridicule filled looks from the family members. Aizhe felt helpless. She took a deep breath in and calmly sat down.

Why was she always at the broken end of the stick? Why couldn't she live peacefully? God, is it that hard to listen to me for once? She sighed and looked down.
