Sprints Towards Her!

Paying no mind to the loud chatter, her uncle started to speak up.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the Li's 5th banquet. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for attending my small celebration. I have always wondered what was the best thing that happened in my 20 years of experience and if someone had asked me way back 20 years ago, I wouldn't hesitate to say my 'bussiness boom'." He stopped and held Aizhe's hand. But, few weeks ago, I realized that life is life and it goes on and a lot of thing are so precious to us that we might not find it back again.."

Looking at the whole audience, Aizhe felt her uncles words way too precious. A hundred pair of eyes trailed on them.

The murmuring and lively chatter before were now replaced with calmness and silency. They all patiently listened to her uncles word. Her heart felt like as if a nail was placed on it and someone was pounding the hammer on to that nail each minute.

She looked around, and noticed Ai and Ah Si calm and wondering gaze. When Ai looked at her, she smiled brightly like the cheerful girl she was.

She then noticed Ah Si and his gaze was indifferent yet his eyes were really warm and calm. This guy can be indifferent but his eyes deceived him everytime, she thought.

Aizhe smiled at them and relaxed her nerves. It was throbbing in her head and her hands were turning cold again. She looked again at the audience. She could feel Cheng Meng's venom filled gaze on her. She looked around and realized that she hasn't seen Lina at the banquet at all. And Cheng Meng looked at her really weird. She knew she had offended her but this time...

Her Uncle's word broke her long train of thought as he continued. "I soon realized how precious our surroundings are, especially our family. I had long lost hopes and felt dejected, but when few weeks ago, I saw this little girl, my hopes were revived. I saw in her eyes the purity and kindness I saw in a person twenty years ago. That same person had told me the importance and value of a family, and whenever he talked his eyes held purity in them. It was my father's." He looked away from the audience as he looked down at Aizhe.

"It was really heartbreaking for me and my family to know that few weeks ago.. my father had passed away and left with us his one and only gem, Aizhe." When Mr. Li announced that, shrieks and shocked expression were heard and seen among the audience. They looked at Aizhe really differently when they realized that she was related to the Li famillie. She was part of the 3rd high and profound family in the whole A city.

"Might be late but that was when I really realized the importance of family. However, now that I do realize, I would like to announce that Aizhe is now truly part of us. She is also like my daughter and whatever rights Lina and Chen has, she will also do.."

When the long speech was over, Aizhe closed her eyes and when she opened it she looked at her uncle. His eyes filled with tears and he looked down at her warmly. She held on to his hands and smiled at him warmly.

No matter what happens, where she runs to, she would still be a Li and that was what her grandfather told her even in his last breath. She smiled when she realized the meaning.

Grandfather wanted me to stay and look! He wanted me to know the importance of a family..he wanted me to see the world..a world without his warmth filled hands..or help.

He wanted me to remind his family, her uncle, that family was the utmost thing..and atlast her uncle did realize that..he did realize that..

A sudden emotions filled her eyes and it came out in the form of her tears. It slipped through her eyes and traveled through her chin as she tasted the saltines.

She looked at Mr. Li warmly. When he saw her effort to not cry, her uncle hugged her. She kept smiling, and being cheerful and didn't notice the commotion that was occurring down.

When Cheng Meng heard his words, she fumed and turned around and glared at her. Seeing her daughter depressed, Cheng Meng got tensed and knew the cause of it was Aizhe. Had she not come and become part of their family, her daughter would not be tainted by some dirty guy today.

When Ai and Ah Si heard the announcement, they were taken back. Aizhe's grandfather passed away and that was why she was brought in to the family. How about her parents?

Ai looked at her mother and father who were shocked.

"How could she be so happy and jolly all the time, when her life is so ruined?" Su Ling spoke up.

Ai suddenly felt incredibly sad. She looked down and sighed. Lu Jung looked at her and comforted her.

"Life is life, who knows when but the two of us will also.."

"Father! Daddy!--" Ai and Ah Si both spoke up. They looked at him like he had wronged them.

Mr. Ah looked at Ai and Si. He suddenly chuckled seeing their reaction.

He looked at his wife and sighed.

"This girl is really precious. Hold on to her Si." He contemplated but spoke at the end.

"I know Father, I know.." He looked at the scene that was occuring in the stage.

"Okay, okay. Honey, let's not talk about this for now.

Brother Si, if you want, I can talk to Mr. Li about--"

"No Lu Jung, I know what I am doing. Don't worry! Worry about the baby shower. We need to throw a party for that, right Ai?"

"Yeah.." Ai replied quietly and solemnly.

"But son-"

"It is okay Father." Lu Jung spoke up with a smile on his structured face. He looked at Ah Si and noticed the emotions clouding in his face. The whole atmosphere was cold and Ah Si's face were clouded with darkness.

He knew how Ah Si felt. Powerless and angry.

He was pretending to be fine and normal when he was obviously hurt too. He felt emotional but couldn't do anything as this was his first time feeling something for a girl.

"Brother, we need to leave soon. The company have some difficulties going on. The stocks are decreasing and the Fu Groups are making it harder.."

Ah Si looked at the passing by waiter and grabbed a wine from the counter tray. His gaze looked deeply at the front, at certain someone. He was in a long daze, ignoring Lu Jung and his surroundings.

Not soon after, the atmosphere went back to its original. Alot of people started to look at Aizhe differently and the whole time, she will be welcomed and smiled at. Nothing like when she arrived or when she was ridiculed. A lot of aunties even introduced their sons, and loads of girl's wished for their friendship with her.

Aizhe felt surrounded by unknown people and pouted. She was beyond tired and wanted to go home. She missed her cuddly bear, her Zia.

When she got out of the crowd, she noticed Ai who was looking down in a daze. She went forward and suddenly stopped in her tracks when something shiny fell near her feet. She stopped and bended to hold the shiny metal. Aizhe frowned when she realized how she saw this piece of metal somewhere.

She looked around and when she looked up, her eyes widened. Her body froze and she looked at Ai who was standing in the middle of the huge and magnificent chandelier.

If this fell on her, she would be injured and most importantly..lose her baby..

"Ai, move from there." She suddenly screamed and sprinted torwards her. Seeing Ah Si, who was not far away from Ai, she pushed her to him.
