City Lights

Seeing her look, Aizhe understood the emotions surfacing in Ning Mei's mind. She walked towards the opposite side of the bed and sat there. She looked at Zia and wondered how peaceful she looked in her sleep.

When she grew up, would she still be this innocent and pure. Would she still follow and hug her just like how she did?

Finding her thoughts a bit overwhelming, Aizhe shook her head. She was already in a huge dilemma over her feelings, she didn't want to bring more tension and stress to herself. She then looked at Ning Mei and their gaze locked. Instead of looking away, she displayed a reassuring, gentle smile at her.

"Mei sister, you know when Zia is hungry, she would pout cutely and hug you tightly. Isn't that adorable?" Ning Mei looked at her in confusion as she thought over.

Whe she was in London, Zia used to talk about her all day, so it was clear that when she came to the Li Mansion, she wanted to meet the woman who made her child so happy. But she collided with Li Na on the way and she told her that Aizhe was the monster Mr. Li brought. Li Na looked really pitiful and even shed tears. Was all that lie?

She stared at Aizhe and felt as if something was wrong. She blinked her eyes and wondered whether the looks in her eyes was deceiving her or Aizhe was really that calm and serene. Aizhe didn't even notice Ning Mei's expressions as she was adamant to make the mother and child understand each other. She wanted her Zia baby to be a happy child who had both her mother's and the father's love.

"And you know, when she is sad, she will cross her arms over like this and look away frowning." she demonstrated for her and smiled warmly thinking about Zia when she didn't get what she wanted.

She kept talking all by herself and when she realized that Ning Mei was just staring at her and not saying anything, she paused. "What happened Mei Sister?" she asked her with bright eyes and hesitancy lingering in her tone.

Ning Mei broke out of her daze and she shook her head calmly. She then spoke out: "I am wondering, how long you are going to stay like this." she said solemnly pointing at her drapped towel and naked upper body.

When Aizhe looked at the direction she pointed at, she immediately stood up and held her towel tightly to not let it fall down. She turned around and embarrassedly looked down. She muttered sorry multiple times as she dashed towards her close in wardrobe. She looked around and quickly fetched the light blue short night dress. She closed the door and only came out when she was done changing.

When she opened the door, she got her second shock as she saw Ning Mei standing there, seemingly waiting for her.

Ning Mei smiled at her and took her hands. Feeling a bit curious on where she was taking her, Aizhe asked her but to no vain as Ning Mei only pulled her towards the rooms balcony silently. When Aizhe sat down on her favorite swing, Ning Mei entered the room and grabbed two blankets for them. She drapped one on Aizhe's body and probed herself in the swinging chair next to her.

The night air in A city was chilly and it made Aizhe's body to slightly shiver. She held on to her blankets closer as the chilly wind passed by them.

The atmosphere was calm as the two of them watched the blinking city lights and the tall buildings that stood like the olden days castles.
