Fleeing the Capital

YuHan Pov:

"I wouldn't have to wipe your face right now if you were more efficient and careful with your plan." I continued to wipe his face with my sleeve.

"Sorry, it's my mistake. I promise that this won't happen again. Next time I have a plan, I'll immediately tell you."

"You tend to say one thing and do the other."

"I promise." He stuck his pinky finger out.

"Only little kids make promises. Let's get out of here now." I grabbed his hand, and we started to run.

Third Pov:

When we arrived, WuQi was waiting at the gate. ZiNuo's face had grey dust marks, and the corner of his lips was bleeding. YuHan, on the other hand, was out of breath, and his lips had turned into a faint pink color.

"What in the world happened here?" WuQi asked while looking at ZiNuo.

"It's an accidental explosion that I created." ZiNuo smiled awkwardly.

"You did that?" WuQi's eyes widened.

"I assure you that I did all of this, and YuHan did not take part in it." The both of them heard a sudden thump. Both of them stared at the ground. That's when they found YuHan had collapsed on the ground with his eyes shut.

"Your partner seems to have collapsed from exhaustion." ZiNuo kneeled and picked up YuHan into his arms.

"Maybe he collapsed due to lack of mana," ZiNuo said before looking at YuHan, who was in his arms.

"I told you, we should have waited for him to recover a bit more," WuQi sighed.

"But he insisted."

The sound of footsteps got louder, "You hear that ZiNuo?" ZiNuo nodded. "We have to get out of here right now. We won't be able to escape when they catch sight of us."

"Who are they?"

"I will tell you when we make it out alive." The three of them left immediately. They made it out before a group of Teng sect members arrived. They made it back to the clinic, where ZiNuo laid YuHan on a bed before he went to talk to WuQi. WuQi is currently sitting at a table, desperately gulping water down. "What a close call!" WuQi placed the cup on the table. ZiNuo seated himself next to WuQi.

"So, who were the guys that were going to catch us?" ZiNuo asked.

"Teng sect members. If they caught either one of us, we would have been beheaded on the spot. They are going to investigate, and they might find some slip-ups you made. They're going to trace your scent and catch you."

"Why would the Teng sect come for me? They have everything they want."

"The place you blew up was their gambling hall. They make the majority of their money off of that place."

"Oh shit."

"Don't worry though, ZiNuo. It will take a bit of time for them to trace your scent. They are going to close the front gates of the capital. If you don't leave by then, you won't be able to leave for a couple of months."

"YuHan and I will have to leave immediately when he wakes up."

"Hopefully, he wakes up before they do that."

"What are the two of you doing here in the capital in the first place?"

After a long conversation, ZiNuo went to check on YuHan. YuHan's eyes slowly opened, and quickly sat up. ZiNuo looked at the other, who seemed tense, and said, "Calm down, YuHan."

"It feels so real," YuHan's words stumbled.

"It's a dream. Whatever you witness, it's just a dream."

"My mother-" His eyes turned watery. YuHan shoved his face into the sheets.

"It's fine to cry," said ZiNuo trying to soothe him.

"It's embarrassing."

"Nothing is embarrassing about crying. I'll leave you here if you need a moment. We will be leaving soon because the capital gates might close if we keep staying here." ZiNuo walked out of the room, leaving YuHan to compose himself.

After a few hours, YuHan has fixed himself up and packed everything. He walked out of the room to find ZiNuo. YuHan's eyes meet ZiNuo's, there he stood at the entrance of the clinic.

"YuHan, we can go now. I paid for your medical bills. I also have the medicine you'll need for the trip, well enough before we stop at the Su sect," ZiNuo smiled at YuHan as orange sunlight shone on his face. YuHan nodded, and he stood next to ZiNuo. "We will be going now, WuQi! Till next time, my friend!" ZiNuo waved his hand at WuQi. WuQi smiled as he watched the two figures walk away into the crowd.

YuHan Pov:

"My money," I said bluntly.

"Your money?" ZiNuo looked at me with a confused face. "Oh, you meant your medicine that I bought with your money. Don't worry, I paid for your medical bills with my money, so there's nothing to worry about. Your wallet is still filled with money." I watched ZiNuo's arms swing up and down as we walk.

"Stop swinging your arm. You will hurt someone at some point."

"Well, maybe if you let me grab onto something, your arm perhaps. I will stop, " he laughed.

"Here," I stuck my arm.

"I was joking," he laughed.

"Grab it or not." I stared into his eyes.

"You didn't have to stop walking. It makes me look like I made you mad or bullied you. People here are watching us." His arm clung to my arm. "You happy now?"

"Let's get going."

"Your ears are red!"

"Will you be quiet for once, ZiNuo," I sighed as we got closer to the front gate of the capital. When we got to the gate, some guards were checking merchants' carts. Some other guards checked people's bags.

"Give me the sword."

"What sword?"

"That mysterious sword, give it to me. I'll hide it with magic."

"It's not like they will do a magic check."

"Trust me." I dug for the mini sword in my bag.

"Here." I handed him the sword, with a magic swoosh, the sword disappeared. When the guards got to us, one of them took my bag. He opened it to see some steamed buns and clothes.

"Pack it up and get going," the man spoke. I gathered everything up and wrapped it with my large cloth, forming it into a bag that I can carry. After walking out of the gates, the sun was going down. I turned my head to view the capital gates that have now closed.

"You see that yellow-colored barrier?"

"Yeah. What WuQi told me was correct. I could have been caught, but here I am with you." I continued walking while ZiNuo stood there and kept talking.

"Where are you going?" ZiNuo shouted.

"Finding shelter for the night."
