Meteor Shower

Time: 10:23pm, City: New York

Jason and Mina both with Uncle Thompson are seated on a thin blanket at the top of a hill. From this hill they could most of the city. Short buildings and tall skyscrapers in the distance and lights illuminating almost every building. It was a sight to see from this decently size hill. Around the hill are a few guards from the house, 10 total just standing around enjoying their time to relax. Many were drinking while some are even cooking on a grill keeping the picnic table they brought filled will food.

"Big Brother are you not feeling hungry? Look at all the food there is to eat!" Mina shouted at her brother Jordan while pulling hand hand trying to get him to stand and get more food with her. "Mina I can't eat anymore..." Jordan said feigning that his stomach hurt while smiling towards her.

"Hmph! Big brother if that were true then why did you just eat another hotdog!" Mina said as she glared at him while giving his hand another tug. "Get up and let's get more food! I want more but I want you to get it with me!" Mina started to pout seeing her brother stay seated and began to tear up when he looked her way. She was only 5 years old so while she trusts a few people like Thompson she doesn't really like any of the other guards assigned to watch them and the house.

Realizing he was only making a small problem into something unnecessary Jordan quickly got up and started walking Mina to the picnic table. "Mina no need to cry haha. I'll help you get your food alright? Don't cry please, big brother is going with you see?" Jordan said as he rubbed her hand with his own while they held hands.

"Young Master and Young Mistress please eat as much as you want, the Master said to keep the table filled with food and any extra we will give to families who need it. One guard said as he stood beside the table taking a few cheeseburgers onto his plate.

Jordan helped Mina get more food but as she is only five years old it didn't amount to much. They both walked back and sat beside Thompson who had been on the phone for a few minutes. Thompson sighed, "Yes sir, I'll tell them when we get off the phone, they will be quite disappointed but if you say that then they will be excited for when you both get back tomorrow" with a chuckle Thompson hung up his phone leaving it on the blanket. "Little ones, your parents said that they won't be able to make it here to see the meteors but they said that they are at home watching it from their lab. They said that they'll make it up to you both by bringing you presents tomorrow." Thompson explained while looking at the brother-sister pair eating a bit of food.

Mina with tears in her eyes sobbed a bit while she chewed her food. "I wanted them to be here with me..." she said a little heart broken to know her parents wouldn't show up to see the meteors with them. Jason on the other hand frowned and reached his hand out rubbing his little sister on the head. "Don't worry Mina" he said, "We'll definitely see them tomorrow and father already said we'll get presents so don't be to disappointed..."

"Both of you look! The meteor shower has started." Thompson said as he kneeled behind them with one hands on each of their shoulders. Meteors shooting through the sky disappearing over the horizon. All show the same color except for a few that seem to stand out from the rest. A red light streaks across the sky like any other meteor then an orange, green, pink and yellow. "Big brother look! This is really pretty!" Mina said as she watched the hundreds of meteors fly by every minute. It's already been around 5 minutes and so many have flashed by that Jason was starting to lose his interest. He got up and started to walk over to the picnic table looking for a soda. "This is really interesting but I am bored staring at that for a few minutes with nothing happening..."

Jordan walked next to the table and picked up a can of sprite, a little cold since it was in a cooler up until a while ago, and turned around to walk back to his sister and Thompson. Then he looked at them and saw the look of shock in their eyes everyone looked frozen in disbelief whenever Jordan looked around at all the guards so he finally looked up at the sky.

His face turned pale as he dropped his soda on the ground. He stood there not saying anything as his eyes opened wider and wider. His hands shaking slowly as he struggled to understand what he was looking at. In the sky a blue streak seemingly similar to the others had struck another meteor and changed its course, it was heading towards the city but how they saw it on the hill, directly for them.
