Anarchy

Everything was quiet for an instant, nobody knew what to say until the sound of something hitting the ground woke them from their shock.

"U-Uncle Thompson that one is coming this way..." Mina whispered while slowly pulling his hand while her own was noticeably shaking as well.

"We need to go! NOW!!" Thompson said as he picked up Mina in one arm and stood up quickly dialing back the number that had perviously called him.

"Team one and two you both lead the way back to the house, we'll be behind you with Team three! Let's go!"

Jason still confused as he watched the blue light in the distance slowly get bigger with every passing second called as suddenly pulled by the hand by the nearest guard. "Young master we need to get back to the house, your parents planned for many things and we need to follow protocol. So we need to get to the house first to the emergency bunker in the basement!" The random guard said as he quickly led Jason next to Thompson before running back to the already departing teams.

15 minutes passed as the group of guards and two children walked quickly through the streets. Thompson has finished talking on the phone with Jason and Mina's parents. "We are another 15 minutes from the home, your parents both said that the underground lab they had built can act as a bunker instead. It should be able to hold everyone on the premises so as long as we get there we should be fine." He said later loudly enough for each team to hear it. Everyone noticeably relaxed a good deal as they though about their lives being fine as long as they made it back to the house. Most had already contacted their families and nearly all understood their families were probably safe in the basements they had in each of their homes. Though it might not be as reinforced as their boss's lab they were above the norm.

Just as everyone was talking amongst themselves about what they will do upon getting out of the lab days later they all felt their phones vibrate or heard a loud severe weather alert. The governor's office had sent an announcement that was sent to every mobile phone within the state.

It read, "Attention: in approximately 5-8 minutes the meteor that has broken away from the shower after colliding with a meteor at its side, will strike the immediate area of New York City. All citizens are advised to seek shelter underground in a basement , storm cellar or windowless room. Storm shelters are available for people who do not have access to these areas. Be advised, this meteor has a destruction level similar to a nuclear bomb. Seek immediate shelter!"

All of the guards who read their phones as this was sent out looked at each other in shock. Even random people stopped and looked at their phones in horror. There was a deathly silence that had taken over the entire city. One guard even dropped his phone as he looked up at the now bottle cap sized meteor burning with a hue of blue flames growing bigger still as it's decent neared ground level. It still seemed to be heading directly for them.

Jason confused had walked toward through the silence and disbelief of the guards and citizens they had stopped between. He picked up the phone and slowly read the word. He was very intelligent for his age being the son of nationally famous scientists. Reading the words in the message Jason slowly withdrew his breath. His eyes widened after he finished reading the message and looked around at all of the adults who looked like they were frozen in time.

"A destructive level similar to a nuclear bomb? What kind of joke is this?" Jason said as he sighed and looked towards the sky watching the ever growing meteor before a shout from behind brought everyone back to their senses.

"Let's go! We are only a few minutes from the house! If we keep moving we can make it to the lab before this meteor strikes! Stop day dreaming if you want to live!" Thompson roared as he pushed a guard on the shoulder and held Mina in his arm while she had her arms around his neck. "Uncle...." she said in a low, frightened voice.

All of the guards looked at Thompson and slowly gained their bearings again. They looked around tapping each other on the shoulder as they all began to move forward again. Slowly they progressed into a light jog as they progressed towards their goal, The Richardson estate's underground lab.

Minutes later the sounds of sirens can be heard along with shouts of anger, the streets had erupted into chaos after the governor's message. Cars colliding with each others, polls, walls, and anything solid, even some people. Jason never imagined that this was humanly possible, humans going crazy when they think that their remaining life has no meaning. Random homes were being broken into and even people killed others randomly, it seemed like a scene from a horror movie.

"Why would people do this? They can just go home and hide in a manor similar to what message said... why...." Jason thought to himself with a look of horror on his face as he stopped in watched someone drive their car into a intersection and collide with another while sending the second vehicle into a light pole as the first car erupted into flames as it rolled into the second causing both to explode. Jason felt his hand being pulled as he was forced to keep moving while his heart rate reached an alarmingly fast speed. He looked back at his sister as she held onto Thompson.

Mina kept her eyes closed but she heard all of these different sounds, screaming, gunshots, car tires squealing and the sounds of collisions and after an explosion. She was noticeably shaking as she held onto Thompson tighter as she cried into his arm.

"Mommy....Daddy.... I'm so scared...." she whispered in a silent cry that was drowned out by the mayhem happening around her.
