Chapter 308: Long Life

Standing up from the debris, Maltheus really seemed unhurt after all those that happened as they fought

Due to his thick skinned and quite durability, even Argos seemed speechless from it all as he stood straight and guarded himself

"You know... As a Dragon Monarch, it's quite lonely being at the top, since no one can outdone you, you intend to always win and never lose... If I may have a say on it, then all I can say is that being strong is quite a boring thing to do" said Maltheus in all honesty

"But somehow that notion changed today as you arrived here and tried to recruit me for your raid" he added

After hearing that Argos stood straight as he replied

"So your thankful? Well I never really expect to be thanked from all my actions" shrugged Argos

Seeing that Maltheus was then brought to a laugh as he said in a loud voice

"Honesty? Or humility?"

"Don't know, don't care"

As Argos said that, Maltheus on the other hand begun to grew dragon wings from his back which were quite heavy that it actually touched the ground

With a flap of his wings, Maltheus then zoomed straight towards Argos in a super Sonic speed that even shocked the other dragon's

Seeing that speed Argos instantly formed dozens of magic circle as he continouesly fired multiple beams towards the speeding Maltheus

But due to his speed Maltheus easily dodged those attacks coming from Argos and swiftly came before him as he arch his back to punch straight to his face, but the moment as he did the deed, a barrier lit up and defended Argos

"What!"

Seeing this opening Argos then gave Maltheus a huge uppercut which shot him off the ground and crashed against multiple rocks

Arching his back, big black wings sprouted from Argos back as it spread out which somehow blocked the sun

"Spherum!!!"

Conjuring two huge sphere made out of dark magic from his wings, Argos then added black lightning Ning to coil it through its surface area

With a push such an attack was then shot before Maltheus in an incredible speed

Just as Maltheus was about to get up from all those rubbles, he was immediately once again struck down as Argos continouesly fired off his attacks, this raining down the whole venue

With continues explosion in those rocky valley, Maltheus was immediately drowned from it as Argos mercilessly fired off his attacks again and again

Seeing such a sight even the spectating dragon's were speechless as they begin to murmur

"Looks like our leader is cornered..."

"How can he even escape that?"

"Do you think leader would use magic this time? Cause it seems this Argos guy is very proficient with magic, rather than close combat"

Soon after a huge magic circle appeared out of nowhere as flame pillar started to rise from the ground and shot off multiple lava towards Argos

"Pillar Graze!"

At that moment Argos covered have myself with a shield as he successfully defended from that counter attack

But with a dash Maltheus zoomed in and slammed agaisnt Argos as he dragged him across the sky

Crashing at the top of a mountain, Maltheus completely overpowered Argos in terms of combat as Maltheus was far more experienced than Argos

By grabbing his head, Maltheus prevented Argos from firing off his blast, thus giving leeway for Maltheus to smash Argos to rocks, debris, and even hot crystalized lava if by chance

But Argos doesn't have time to be dragged like this as he took a hold of Maltheus arm and slowly crush it's wrist, causing pain on his arm

Due to pain Maltheus was forced to let Argos go, which in turn, had its tables turned on him

Clenching it's fist Argos punched Maltheus on it's jaw before catching up with him in midair and grounding him down by force

Raising his hand into the air dark clouds begun to condense from above and a rainy streaks of water poured down

Under his command he then casted a huge spell on him

"Thunderstruck!"

Like a being from high above, the clouds shot down 50 lightning strikes simultaneously towards the hard ground, this destroying Everything that is built, formed and even possible weak life that was underneath it

In a moment it made it look like as if the whole area became a lightning Field which greatly devastated the ecosystem below

With a great destructive explosion which upturned everything below, Argos then flew down after those strikes and slowly walked towards Maltheus who was struck down hard by those lightning strikes

After a while Argos saw Maltheus being scorched down from all of that but still somehow only received quite a few type of damage

An fact even that destructive attack seemed only to burn him on the outside but quite intact on the inside

"This guy... Just what is he made off? Even from that scale, it only did this much damage? Unbelievable" exclaimed Argos

Soon after his eyes constricted upon seeing maltheus actually starting to stand up even with all those damage

Seeing that Argos somehow waited for him as he said

"You know... Your quite thick skinned, but are you somehow an earthen dragon in disguise? Why are you so tough? I just can't understand"

Hearing that Maltheus heartily laughed as h said

"That's experience accumulation! Throughout my life that is limited i always made sure to always stay alive no matter what the cost... And do you know what happened?"

"You gained an indestructible body?"

"Not quite! In fact the indestructible body that your thinking is no mere than an figment of your imagination" replied Maltheus

"Huh?"

"I mean the way my body is still intact, you really thought I have a indestructible body? Then perhaps you haven't known but it's all just basic defending" said Maltheus

"Defending? You mean you used magic in it?"

"Yes apparently it's application type"

"Application... I see" said Argos as if something dawned on him

After a while of pondering Argos begin to guess what Maltheus did to obtain an indestructible body

"Let's see.. as a dragon we have scales to rely on defenses, on top of that we have magic to fortify our defenses, but you on the other hand brought it to another level, and since I never heard of it before, then perhaps such a thing was invented by yours truly?" Asks Argos as he thought it up

"Indeed I invented this when I was halfway of my dragons life..." Said Maltheus as he stood up and staggered a bit

"It's hard to describe it by words but I'll try to explain..." He added as he soon leaned against a rock to support himself

"Apparently on top of those I somehow thought otherwise and think, what happens if I brought it up a notch, after all humans claim that magic is like an infinite knowledge that was yet to be discovered... And I for one even with my long lifespan agreed to that notion"

"...."

"There are no impossible task, only unreliable searchers who are satisfied by the current status quo, in fact I belong to the part in which I need to improve, in one of my life I pretended to be an alchemist for atleast 50 years in the human kingdom and learned so much from them"

"Apparently I'm a monster in strength unlike those alchemist who were monsters of knowledge and craziness... Did you know they always like to do explosive stuff! Because of their enthusiasm it actually destroyed the place I worked for by atleast 8 times per three months... Unbelievable"

As Maltheus heartily said those words, Argos on the other hand was quite silent as he then stood straight and concentrating all his attention towards Maltheus who somehow begin spouting things about his past

As if reading his mind, Maltheus immediately said

"I'm not plotting anything"

"Is that so? Seems like you can read minds" said Argos

"Your mistaken, in fact your face seemed to be spouting that your not interested in any of my past" said Maltheus

"Indeed! I came here to recruit, prove my worth and get out, yet you begun story telling" said Argos

"Oh wow! As a young dragon your quite rude"

Standing up from those rubbles Argos then begun to walk away as it seemed like Maltheus wanted to continue the conversation

"I'll tell you when we would leave, so you better prepare for your departure"

Seeing him walking away, Maltheus then begin to flew towards Argos as he landed infront of him

"Oi! What do you think your doing?" Asks Argos

"Brat! Listen up..."

"Don't care! Stop bothering me"

"Triforce!"

Hearing that name, Argos seemed to halt on his step as he looked towards Maltheus and seemed skeptical to his words

"Triforce! That's the name I gave after finding a solution to create a body that won't easily be destroyed by anytype of Calamity that may befall unto me, it's also the reason why I stepped into slight godhood"

"As for you a Calamity Class Being, a status which is on par yet above the gods, your strength is not yet of a fraction from the past Calamity Class Beings... It's like your a degrade version of Bahamut"

Hearing that Argos begun to laugh

"That's because I haven't released all of my strength yet! I'm just suppressing it all, I'll only take a 100% if necessary to win" said Argos as he proved his point

"I see, indeed having a trump card being hidden that way may prove beneficial to you in the future fights where everything must go all out, like an all or nothing kind of scenario" said Maltheus

"See? That's mean I'm powerful enough" said Argos as he shoved Maltheus by the side and started to walk away

Seeing that Maltheus sighed as he called out his last ditch

"Did you know dragon's have a lifespan of 10,000 years?"

"Yes indeed! I heard of such things"

"It was said that once a dragon dies a natural death, it will turn into particles wherein his Mana would be absorb by the world and will cause great vegitation and reforestation, since dragons have abundant Mana... One dead dragon that died a normal death is equivalent to a barren land turning into a forested area"

With that Argos seemed to came to a halt as he looked back and seemed fishy about that claim

"Just what are you imposing? Are you telling me that it was all a lie to begin with? Such high tales are just meaningless rumors?" Asked Argos

Seeing the suspicion, Maltheus then shook his head and said

"It's not like that but the thing is out of history of Dragons for the past 35,000 years, only 1 dragon manage to die a peaceful death, as for others... No one knew who killed them... As a Dragon I too longed for a peaceful death, yet I'm afraid of someone killing me, a person capable of easily hunting and killing dragons in the past 35,000 years"

"Due to that I research the best defense and came up with this idea, but it's compatibility to other dragon's is very low, thus not anyone could learn it, but for some reason I know that you can learn it... If you want to ensure that you'll live until the end then learn triforce"

With that Argos was brought into thinking for a bit as he seemed to try to connect everything, based on his experience bon the past years or so, he beloved that he only knew two people who have a life years of 35,000 years, one was an old guy guarding the records, whole the other guy is the first Hero who seemed to be preparing for something big of a scale that even alerted the gods

After awhile Argos decided to learn this so called triforce to increase his defense and later on take on the first hero without minding the damage he will receive

"Looks like things that is happening around Kaido is much more complicated that it seems"
