Wolferan sighed reading a report he had gotten. He had reread the paper at least ten times already. He was really disappointed. He had no news of the silver-eyed demon and only kept getting reports of rumors that always turned out to be false. This was frustrating him to no end. It had been two whole years since he had any real news of her. There had been a few times when he had reports of a mysterious woman in a few towns near where he lost the silver-eyed demon last, but it was always brief.
The reports said a mysterious cattrina came into town with a boy and bought clothes and left. There was no definitive proof it was the silver-eyed demon as none of his informants got a good look at the woman and boy. He didn't believe those reports to be the silver-eyed demon but he had a nagging feeling towards those reports and remembered them. He didn't know why they bothered him but they did. He actually went to check one of the reports out because it bothered him so much but even then he still didn't find anything else than what the reports stated.
He was stumped as to where the silver-eyed demon went. He wanted to know if she had killed the child with her or if the child had been released. He really couldn't see the silver-eyed demon traveling with a child and as such wasn't looking for this. He was mainly having his informants looking for mysterious cattrina women.
This was because he knew most no one knew what the silver-eyed demon looked like. He wanted to catch this woman and bring an end to her. He believed she had killed the child she had with her when he lost her but couldn't be sure until he confirmed it. To confirm it he would have to catch her though. And to catch her, he needed to know where she was; which he didn't know.
He sighed and set the depressing no new news on the silver-eyed demon report down. He needed to find her. He had been hunting her just short of five years. He had never taken so long to catch someone. Normally it only took him a year at most but the silver-eyed demon… He was unable to catch her. He had originally thought the task would be fairly easy but it was far from. She had caught his attention after several assassinations on nobles and lords who were all killed the same. At first no one knew it was the silver-eyed demon until she slipped up and got caught. After that all knew who it was and tried their luck only to die.
The silver-eyed demon had gained his attention and out of curiosity asked for information about her. After he got what little information he could on her he decided to hunt her. After his first failed attempt which let him get a good look at her face he discovered not only was she young but skilled in getting away. Every time he managed to get close she would run and once she made it to a forest she seemed to vanish. But he also discovered a pattern to her actions for the first two years he hunted her.
The silver-eyed demon would come out of hiding only every two or three months and kill a lord or person. After she would kill she stayed in a town for a little bit before disappearing once again. This frankly baffled him as he couldn't understand why she did this. She then changed her actions three years ago and started to just travel town to town and now had vanished these last two years. He just couldn't make sense of it. Why was this woman known as a demon acting in such a way? His thoughts went to reasons she could be acting like this.
Could she have a family? Did she take care of her mother the first two years and then her mother died? Did she get pregnant two years ago? Was she apart of an assassination group? Could she not be what anyone thought she was? Could she be helping someone? Was someone helping her? Was she ill? Was there a reason for her doing all the killing? Was it possible she died two years ago? Wolferan sighed he just couldn't believe she was dead. He had a gut feeling she wasn't. But why, was the question running through his head.
Wolferan could find no reason for her actions and why her patterns kept changing and why every few years. He of course did look into her past as far as he could of the silver-eyed demons. He knew she had tried to kill the king of Huskarian and failed. Also during her failed attempt she had been injured. He also noted there was nothing about her for four years after that and figured she took that time to heal. After that year though he noticed a few cases of killed men that were too odd to be coincidences. The men had been roughly killed in the manner the silver-eyed demon killed in. These killed men had been killed in a way that he knew the killer wasn't experienced in killing, but had no hesitation to kill.
He was fairly sure this was the silver-eyed demon at work perfecting her killing craft. Though one thing that bothered him was the fact that she had no reservation about killing. It made him wonder about her upbringing. Was she taught to kill as a child but he knew that couldn't be true as he had seen the improvement of her killing technique. He had seen it be a beginning level of skill to become what it is now a master. He knew she had been learning to perfect her killing skills since he started to hunt her.
Wolferan did wonder if something had happened to the silver-eyed demon during her childhood to make her who she was today, a demon. He would definitely ask her once he caught her. He had so many questions unanswered about her he was utterly baffled. Never, not even once before had he had such trouble getting information about someone.
He could normally get everything about them, even if they never showed themselves to the world beforehand. This silver-eyed demon, she was the first person he couldn't get any answers from. He knew nothing of her other than where she had killed since he started to hunt her. He knew nothing of her childhood or even her real name. He only knew of her false names she gave others.
He had put so much effort into learning about her only to get nothing. He only had one option now and that was to catch her. He would make her talk and tell him everything. By now he knew he had become really obsessed over knowing about this silver-eyed demon. By now it was near borderlining on stalking as he had to know everything. In these two years without any information on her whereabouts he had gathered every little bit of information he could. He actually even by now knew which type of bread rolls she would buy or what jerky she preferred. He had learned every bit of information he could get a hold of.
Even his servants and informants knew by now he was obsessed about this silver-eyed demon he knew almost nothing about and had yet to catch. Once wolferan did catch her though he would know everything. He knew this obsession of his was due to his dragon side but he didn't care. He wanted to know about this woman and have her answer every one of his questions. At the moment he would even kill a whole kingdom to get what he wanted. Once he had what he wanted, he would make her pay and suffer for all his hard work.
He sighed, rubbing his face trying to shake his mind of his thoughts of the silver-eyed demon. This was becoming harder and harder as days passed. His dragon blood demanded he catch her. He also knew it was pointless to obsess as he was but he really couldn't help himself. He wanted what he wanted no matter the cost. He stood and grabbed a bottle of scotch from his cupboard in his study. He opened the bottle and took a swig from it without bothering about getting a glass.
He enjoyed the burning sensation as the alcohol slid down his throat helping to clear his mind. He set the bottle back in the cupboard before leaving his study blowing out the candles in the room with a bit of wind magic. It was midnight and he had a meeting in the morning. He had to get some sleep, or at least try to. He knew he wouldn't get much sleep tonight.
He hadn't been able to get much sleep recently but he knew it was because of his agitation. This agitation also made it very easy for him to snap or become aggressive towards others. This in turn made people listen and do their best not to anger him. It made no difference to him though.
Wolferan went to his bedroom which was down the hall of his study. He went into his room and changed into some sweatpants before he lay on his bed. He normally didn't sleep with blankets but always had a fire in his fireplace in his room. He couldn't handle the cold very much but didn't like blankets much. He relaxed his muscles, closing his eyes trying to fall asleep. After tossing a turning to get into a comfortable position he finally fell asleep.
