Chapter Fifteen; Leanunya

She lashed her tail even as Wolferan neared her, his eyes on her and her dagger. She backed up as he approached. He had no weapons but considering his sharp claws on his hands he really didn't need one. Neither did she but chose to use one. Leanunya also knew he had enough strength alone to be dangerous even without his claws. This was just her instinct telling her but she trusted her instincts.

Leanunya backed up til she bumped into a wall and Wolferan attacked at that moment. She dropped to the side and lashed out with her dagger at his thigh. The dagger tore his pants but glanced off his dragon scales.

Leanunya cursed and scrambled away just barely avoiding his attempt to grab her. She grit her teeth from the pain of her own movement but continued to move to get out of his grasp. She panted facing him once a distance away from him.

She jumped to the side as Wolferan attempted to grab her again. She then tried to slash the side of his gut as she went diving past his left side. Once again the dagger only tore his clothing and glanced off his dragon scales.

Before she could even turn to face him she was tripped by his long tail. She landed on the ground on her hands, her right hand gripping the dagger. She tried to get back up but was kicked in the back, right back onto the ground.

Leanunya whimpered from the pain of being kicked but rolled on her back gasping from the pain on her back and right wing she lay on. She tried to scramble away but Wolferan dropped onto her straddling her to hold her down. Leanunya gritted her teeth whimpering from the pain. She then lashed out with her dagger at his face but to no effect and only got him to grab her wrists.

Wolferan then smashed her right wrist into the ground making her gasp, dropping her dagger. She growled pinning her ears to her head feeling panicked as she struggled to break free from his grasp.

"I told you; You are not getting away this time." Wolferan growled out.

Leanunya glared at him, clenching her fists still struggling. She growled and kicked out, still pinned. She gritted her teeth before kneed him in the crotch with all her strength and heard him groan and felt his grip slack. She struggled more and broke free from his grasp and scrambled away before getting to her feet.

She turned and ran leaving her dagger that she had been forced to drop. She could only think of one way she might be able to get away from him and that was to take to the sky. Just maybe she could escape him then, just maybe.

Leanunya ran as fast as her legs would carry her to the nearest city wall ignoring the guards she ran past. She panted her lungs burning for air but kept pushing herself. She ran, reaching the wall and seeing stairs to the top of the wall ran up them without hesitation.

She reached the top of the wall and saw this was the wall that ran along the edge of the cliff the city was built on. She went to jump but felt a tug on her cloak. She glanced back and saw Wolferan had grabbed onto the edge of her cloak trying to stop her.

She swiftly released the clasp on her cloak and swiftly jumped from the wall and cliff just before he could grab her and stop her. She went to spread her wings to fly but yelped in pain as she discovered her right wing was broken. She had been unable to tell before due to having no time and the amount of pain she felt from her back. Now she had made a fatal mistake.

She couldn't fly and was likely to die from crash landing onto the ground. Although she could slow her descent with her one good wing it would still be up to fate if she landed in a safe spot. She flapped her one good wing trying to slow her fall with some luck. She then noticed the place where she was falling towards and grit her teeth.

It was a rocky field and many looked sharp. It would be a miracle if she survived landing there. She pinned her ears, her eyes wide even as she struggled to change the direction of her fall. Even going through the pain of using her broken wing even though it only made it worse causing her immense pain. She had no luck changing directions and closed her eyes as she was about to hit the sharp rocks below.

Leanunya suddenly felt arms wrap around her and felt the pressure of being swooped up back into the air. She opened her eyes and saw her gliding over the ground. She gritted her teeth from the pain of being crushed against the chest of the person holding her from behind. The pain was from her broken wing and back which she wasn't sure how badly damaged it was.

She was fairly sure her savior had been Wolferan but as she couldn't see his face due to her swimming vision which was speckled with black dots, she couldn't confirm. She watched as finally they landed by a river bank at the bottom of the cliff. She was let go and she stumbled to the ground coughing gasping for air from her earlier fight, run and, near death fall as well as her immense pain.

Leanunya finally caught most of her breath back and looked up at the man who had saved her. As she had assumed, it was Wolferan who saved her and who was now glaring at her. He looked like he would be ready to grab her if she even attempted to run.

She didn't bother to even attempt as she knew it was pointless and she was caught. She had a broken wing and from the stabbing pain at each breath she took probably a broken rib or two. She looked at him nervously, not sure what he was going to do to her.

"It was stupid to jump with a broken wing." Leanunya gritted her teeth in anger and pain as she stood, "I didn't know it was broken." Wolferan looked at her coldly, "You're a Cattagon." "Thanks for pointing out the obvious."

She winced as she placed her left hand over her ribs on her right side under her arm. She watched Wolferan as he stared at her. Leanunya flicked her tail nervously looking back at him.

"You'll be coming with me to answer several questions as well as answer for your crimes" Wolferan spoke as he stepped up to her.

"What if I don't agree with that plan of yours?" Leanunya backed up. "You think you have the ability to resist?" "I can try", she hissed out.

She backed up even as Wolferan approached. Leanunya tried to dodge as he grabbed her but failed and was brought in his arms almost in an embrace but her arms and wings were pinned. She struggled but was only squeezed tighter causing her to whimper out in pain. She hissed and tried kicking out but this only resulted in her feeling a sharp pain to her head before darkness enclosed her vision.
