Chapter Sixteen; Wolferan

Before the fight

Wolferan had arrived at the capital a week ago and now was waiting for the silver-eyed demon to arrive. He finally caught word of her arrival and after talking to several sources, discovered her in the library. He went to the library and went in careful not to be seen.

He went to the second floor and soon found her on the east side deeply immersed in reading a book. He crouched down and stalked closer keeping hidden behind bookshelves. Once close enough he pounced but it seemed she noticed him and moved away just in the nick of time and seeing him she ran and jumped out the window nearby.

He cursed at her getting away and ran jumping out the window. He spreads his wings taking flight chasing after her. He flew watching her from above ready to dive down to attack and capture her. When he saw her finally stop he dived down, attacking. He saw her try to get away but was a second too slow and he managed to land feet first onto her back driving her to the ground. He heard a snap and yelp from her so he knew he broke bones but the feeling he got from under his feet was strange.

He was then caught off guard as she rolled out from under his feet making him stumble a bit and flapped his wings to keep his balance. He steadied himself and refocused on catching her. He saw her take out a knife and scoffed seeing it.

""Give it up. You are not getting away this time, Silver-eyed demon." He growled out and the silver-eyed demon spat out, "Go to hell!"

He stalked towards her and she reversed until she backed into the wall. He used this opportunity to leap forwards to try and catch her only for her to dodge and even slash his thigh with her knife. It didn't harm him in any way thanks to his dragon scales but it tore up his clothes. She was much better at fighting than he had originally given her credit for. Since he had never seen her fight he thought she was a coward.

He turned and reached to grab her but missed as she scrambled away panting and looked miserable. He was quite surprised at her ability to handle the pain so well from the ribs he surely broke.

He attacked once again leaping forward and tried to grab her neck only for her to dodge and slash his gut. He ignored this and as she went to get away from his range he used his powerful tail to trip her.

He saw her try to get back up but kicked her back down getting a whimper out of her. He saw her roll onto her back and try to scramble away but he dropped onto her, straddling her to trap her. When she attacked his face with her knife he simply grabbed her wrists. He then smashed her right wrist against the ground making her drop the knife.

"I told you; You are not getting away this time." He growled and she growled at him struggling.

He pinned her while she struggled but he groaned being kicked in the groin and his grip weakened enough for the silver-eyed demon to escape. He let her go for a moment before he managed to collect himself and ignored the pain and stood up. He growled and took flight chasing after her. He took to the sky and looked for the silver-eyed demon and soon spotted her and chased after her.

He saw her climb the walls on the edge of the cliff and dived down thinking she thought it was a wall to the other side of town and not on the cliff. He could see she looked like she was going to jump from the wall. He managed to reach her in time and grabbed the edge of her cloak.

He went to pull her back but saw her unclip the cloak and jumped from the wall and cliff. He growled ready to save her from this foolery but froze seeing her spread a pair of wings from her back. He couldn't believe it. She was not a cattrina but a Cattogn!

He stared for a moment frozen silly from shock but then noticed she wasn't flying off but was half gliding and falling and realized her wing was broken from the odd angle she held it and even stil tried to use it. He jumped from the wall and dove, flapping his wings to catch up to her to catch her. He finally managed to catch up to her just in time and wrapped her in a bear hug and flapped his wings going to the ground.

He landed on the ground near a river at the bottom of the cliff and set her down watching her in shock. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The silver-eyed demon was clearly a cattagon. How had he never seen this before? She was a cattagon. She had both traits of the dracion and catrina. It made them extremely dangerous depending on which they took after more. Although it was clear she took more after the cattrina.

He stared at her coldly, he was furious. He couldn't believe his target had managed to keep such a secret from everyone for so long, perfectly disguising herself as a cattrina. Not only was that hard to do but near impossible. During a fight one would want to use their wings especially in getting away but she hadn't. She was so skilled in hiding her true identity that not even he could tell despite being as old as he was.

He looks at her and her wings coming to grips with the new reality while the silver-eyed demon was coughing and gasping for air on the ground where she had fallen after he let her go. He glared at her as he realized he couldn't do what he had wanted to before. Her being a cattagon changed everything. He had to find out everything about her. Although he had planned to do so to begin with; he now had to go about it differently. He also didn't feel the need to claw the answers out of her now that he was looking at her.

He finally spoke when she caught her breath, "It was stupid to jump with a broken wing." The silver-eyed demon gritted her teeth as she stood, "I didn't know it was broken." Wolferan looked at her coldly, "You're a Cattagon." "Thanks for pointing out the obvious."

Wolferan glared at her as she held her side. He knew she was starting to feel the pain from the broken bones and realized earlier she probably didn't really feel the pain due to her adrenaline running. He also realized she wasn't going to run but still was defiant.

"You'll be coming with me to answer several questions as well as answer for your crimes" Wolferan spoke as he stepped closer her.

The silver-eyed demon glared, "What if I don't agree with that plan of yours?" She backed up. "You think you have the ability to resist?" "I can try", she hissed out.

Wolferan stepped to her even as she resisted before grabbing her and trapping her against his chest pinning her arms and wings to her sides. He could feel her struggling and only tightened his grip. He then felt her start to try and kick him. He frowned and lifted his hand hitting her on the side of her neck to make her go unconscious. He felt her go limp and nearly fall from his arms.
