Chapter Seventeen; Wolferan

Wolferan sighed as he picked up the now unconscious silver-eyed demon into his arms. He wasn't feeling the pride he normally felt after catching his target. He felt frustrated and unnerved. Although he was smug about finally catching his target it was strained as he knew she was a Cattagon and it changed everything about his knowledge about her.

It gave him the reason why she tried to kill the king and why she killed some nobles but at the same time it left him with far more questions. He sighed before taking to the air headed to his home to lock the silver-eyed demon up where he could get answers to all his questions.

He flew swiftly, quickly stopping by the library to pay for the broken window before going home in deep thought. He had chased after the silver-eyed demon for years yet only now did he discover she was a Cattagon and not a cattrina. For so many years he had not once noticed. He hadn't even noticed she had wings under her cloak which was often all he saw of her when he chased her.

What also astounded him was the fact she was a fast thinker able to know when to escape and when to fight. Back in the city when they fought he was amazed by the fact that she faced him then ran. Which of course had been the right move at the time considering he might have killed her if she hadn't ran again. He had been too transfixed on catching her; he might have killed her at the least injuring her worse than she was now.

Now thinking about it, it was probably due to him that she had the broken wing. He sighed, feeling slightly guilty about that. He knew the extreme pain that came from a broken wing and as such he would prefer not to break anyone's wings if he could help it. Although when it came to the worst killers who didn't discriminate between children and adults he had no issues with breaking their wings.

Wolferan remembered the child that had vanished with the silver-eyed demon and steeled his heart. He didn't know if that child was alive or not still. He hoped the child was but he also knew the chances of the child being alive was slim to none. This made him want to skin the sIlver-eyed demon for the young child's life.

He had a code of ethics and he had thought she did too but after she took the child his thinking she had ethics were ground to dust. To him children were not to be harmed except in the most extreme circumstances. As such not knowing if she killed a child or not was a heavy stone on his heart.

He heaved a breath before focusing on flying swiftly home. He knew the silver-eyed demon would wake before then and as such used his magic to put her into a deep slumber that only him removing the magic, would she wake. It would take three or four days to make it home although he didn't mind taking so long as it gave him time to think.

Wolferan made it home after three and a half days. He landed outside his home and walked inside carrying the silver-eyed demon who was still unconscious. He went downstairs to the dungeon he had. He went to a cell and carried the silver-eyed demon into it before setting her on the ground and chained her to the wall by her wrists.

He stood and removed his sleeping spell on her before leaving the cell, shutting the cell door and heading up. As he started up the stairs he heard a groan and knew it was the silver-eyed demon. He left the dungeon and ordered a servant to get him a bath ready and to stoke a fire in his room, for after he got out of the bath.

He stretches out thinking. Before heading to bathe after being told his bath was ready. He entered the bathroom and stripped before getting in the wooden bathtub and took a deep breath relaxing in the warm water up to his shoulders.

He relaxed his body while going into deep thought trying to figure out what to do with the silver-eyed demon. He could use a truth spell to make her speak the truth which would make it faster to get the information he wanted. Though there was a loophole to that and if she just refused to talk he could get nothing. Although, he did have many ways to make people talk but he would rather give people the chance to come clean on their own.

Wolferan sighed before coming up with a plan that would let him get answers without magic or torture while giving the silver-eyed demon a chance to come clean. He then stood getting out of the bath and stretched. He dried off and got dressed before leaving the bathroom and went to his room to get some greatly needed sleep.

He hadn't slept much on the way back home due to being on guard and having pushed himself in his flight to make it home sooner. He paused before entering his room to tell a servant to leave the silver-eyed demon alone for the time being.

He ordered them to only give her water for the time being. He was going to use food and medical treatment as a bargaining chip to get her to talk. He thought it would work much better then torture or other violent forms of getting her to talk. He could be brutal and cruel but would rather use non-violent methods first if he could.

However, Wolferan's dragon instincts often just gave him the wanting to eat or burn his victim. He of course ignored these instincts for more beneficial ways to handle them. He wanted information about the criminals he caught. He wanted to know how many they killed and who they killed so he could notify the victims' families.

His mother had been killed when he was younger and never found out who killed her or why. Nor did he know if the killer had gotten what they deserved and this left a lasting impression on him. This made him unable to leave things be with victims' families and he had to bring them peace of mind.

He sighed at these thoughts and entered his room. He went and lay on his bed clearing his mind of such thoughts even as he wondered what brought about such thoughts. He hadn't thought of his mother in a very long time. He sighed and relaxed trying to get some sleep knowing he needed it.
