Basics and skills[Edit]

Based on the data from his phone, Wade managed to determine that he had a studio apartment with a killer small area. Literally, one room, and that bed took up most of the space. The walls were painted a pale shade of yellow, resembling overly used mustard. The bathroom was small and cramped, with a shower and toilet that felt like they had been forcibly shoved in there. The little kitchen connected to the living room, furnished with some tacky furniture set, also didn't add any charm. This was the end of the journey he so desperately wanted in his life.

The interior decor was poor and cheap, designed with minimal costs in mind. Even the TV looked like one of those old, bulky models he had seen at McDonald's, and its screen was so small that it seemed comical compared to modern technology. "How can I live here?" he thought, looking around his little kingdom.

However, despite this beautiful decor, he couldn't sit still. Sleeping on that horrendously looking mattress must have been a nightmare, and the back pain caused by sleeping on that relic would remind him of it every time he tried to get comfortable. "I was supposed to dream of a better life, and I ended up here…" he thought ironically, sighing heavily. But no wonder, he had a system and was in the damn Marvel universe. Wade knew what he had to work on.

He seriously considered developing his basic skills. Since he had speed, maybe he should go out on the street and run a bit. However, a certain phenomenon interrupted him; he felt a pang of hunger.

His assumption was that due to this ability to run, his stomach needed more fuel, i.e., food. "So why not try cooking skills?" he thought, uncertainty in his voice.

With a few ingredients he had in the fridge, he decided to make an egg omelet. It wasn't anything creative; it resembled a meal from a cheap cafeteria, but it was enough to fill him up. "I'll make five omelets," he declared, setting himself an ambitious challenge.

[Cooking skill gained level 1]

"Thanks, Vega!" he shouted, seeing that he had gained a skill after making one omelet. "So the saying 'Anyone can cook' is true." Hehe... Vega upgraded Cooking to level 10.

[Cooking skill increased [1->10], do you want to develop this skill?]

A slight cerebral shock and almost all his muscles were tired. The level of pain was hellish, but he was starting to like it. Maybe it was related to the feeling of increasing strength. "Is it possible I won't go insane from exhaustion? Who knows…" he wondered, twisting his lips into a slight smile.

However, his sense of humor began to wane. After the evolution of "Cooking" to "Young Cook," his emotions also dropped. He instinctively knew how much salt to add and even felt like adding some herbs. But whenever he tried to reach for the spices, he couldn't find them. "Where do I keep all these ingredients?" he thought, becoming increasingly frustrated. After limiting himself to salt and pepper, he decided that would be enough. "Without ingredients, further cooking doesn't make sense," he thought, discouraged. And since he wasn't rich, he had no way to get more ingredients. For his mental health, he decided to stop upgrading "Young Cook," leaving it at level 1.

However, after eating the omelets, which, aside from the first one, seemed perfect to him, he felt like something was missing. The taste was fine, but with every bite, he felt that he hadn't met the challenge. "I wanted to create something more," he thought, downcast. His enthusiasm revived when he reached for his laptop. He discovered that many heroes were known in the media, and some even had social media accounts. But that wasn't important to him. He found a fan page that showcased many heroes and the information that internet users had about them. Each hero thread had a separate chat where fans excitedly discussed every achievement of their chosen superhero.

As he browsed through the characters, he examined them in a different way. On a piece of paper from an old math notebook he found under the bed, he wrote down the goals, or rather powers, he wanted to have as a solid foundation. "I have to be realistic," he thought, analyzing his options. He knew he currently couldn't magically fly, cast spells, or have laser vision. He was limited solely to physical and mental skills. After watching a short video on the mentioned page featuring Spider-Man, accompanied by a few heroes he was more familiar with, namely Spider-Gwen and Scarlet Spider, Lucke Kage and Iron Fist were busy fighting members of the Sinister Six. But ignoring the footage, Wade remembered a scene where Spider-Man caught MJ and a tray of food. In one of the Spider-Man movies.

Reflex.

He grabbed the pan he had washed some time ago and started tossing it, trying to catch it by the handle. At first, he was really bad at it; he threw it too high and couldn't catch it in time. The pan fell, making a pleasant sound to the ear. However, after gradually increasing his agility, he didn't even catch the pan when it fell behind his back; he heard and saw a notification from Vega.

[Instinctive Grip level 1 gained]

When he saw this, he literally froze. "This isn't what I wanted to achieve," he thought, unsure. He decided to check what this skill was; the name of the skill was misleading.

["Instinctive Grip" is a passive skill. It causes instinctive movements with increased speed to catch, grab, or throw an object or to be in motion.]

"That's a useful skill," he thought, though against all odds. However, he didn't think that instead of a skill that increases overall reflexes, he would get some specialized one. "I don't know what… it's difficult," he pondered. "Maybe I'll be able to catch bullets thanks to it. But I also need Super Strength so I don't break my fingers!"

Vega upgraded the instinctive grip to level 10.

["Instinctive Grip skill" increased [1->10], the skill reached its maximum form. One lottery ticket received.]

"Wow, wow, wow. What the hell? I expected an evolution, not a maximum. This skill didn't even evolve once. Why?" he asked himself, feeling growing frustration.

[This skill, reach your full potential. Instinctive Grip is a minor skill that is part of many others. However, leveling it up is at a really high level and takes many people years to raise this skill level or obtain Super Power with a physical aspect.]

"Well, okay. I buy it. At least I have an ability that can be called a superpower. Hooray. But I shouldn't get too excited; just catching won't make me Bullseye." What else could he do to be as excited as Spider-Man in the web? He decided he would jump around like crazy, doing jumps that could demolish his apartment if he wasn't careful. Not the most responsible plan, but responsibility at that moment was not on Wade's mind.

He started running around the room, jumping on the sofa, doing hops. Over time, he created a small obstacle course with furniture. The table served as an obstacle for him, from sliding under it, jumping on it, to jumping from chair to chair. He even tried to do a somersault but with little success. Nothing happened to him, but the neighbor from below started banging on his floor, shouting that if he didn't calm down, he would come up to him. "Great fighting skills," he thought, feeling a slight smile appear in his head. "I wonder if he would actually do it. But no matter the luck, Vega saved him."
