Chapter 4: Rescue

As I entered the room, I took in my surroundings. As expected, it was exquisite, with plush sofas and stylish armchairs you could probably just sink into.

Which was when I noticed him sitting there on an armchair furthest from the door.

Jungkook.

I blinked rapidly before covering my mouth with both my hands to stifle a gasp. He was actually here. I contemplated slapping my cheek to wake myself up, but I decided I didn't want this dream to end. It just couldn't be real.

He slowly approached me. His eyes were the same colour as I had last saw him; golden-brown orbs that seemed to lose people in their gaze. Slightly curled hair, a darker brown with red streaks appearing as they shimmered in the dim sunlight.

He finally reached me and stopped. After what seemed like an age of silence, Jungkook bent his back slightly to stare at me right in the eyes.

"Hello Alex. We meet again."

Was this real? Only one way to tell. Trembling slightly, my hand shakingly reached for his face. As I came into contact with incredibly smooth skin, I couldn't help but gasp. I covered your mouth again as tears ran down I face and didn't seem to want to stop. He was real. And he was standing right in front of you.

Blindly, I stepped back. Right into something hard and muscular, but at the same time soft. So it wasn't the door. Turning around, my eyes widened as I faced someone I thought I'd never see again. Park Jimin. Jungkook's right hand man and one of my best friends. Always happy and cheerful, if a little sassy, Jimin was just always there. A comforter, a friend.

He didn't seem so happy now. He looked anything but, as his eyes narrowed intensely until they were no more than small slits glaring at me in anger. And I hated Jimin angry. That meant someone fucked up. BIG time. ie me. Not sure for what, though.

My thoughts were interrupted for the third time in a day when I heard a sound I knew all too well. The loading of a gun. I turned around to come face-to-face with the barrel of a gun directly in my face. Now I was confused. Why on earth was a gun being pointed into my face?

"What are you doing here?" I whispered, not sure I could trust myself to stay calm and freak out over the fact I was suddenly being held at gunpoint.

"I could ask you the same thing,

Alex."

My name rolled off Jungkook's tongue, and I couldn't stop the internal shiver of satisfaction. But now his answer left me even more confused than before. Wasn't he here to rescue me from Kai?? Then, what the hell was he doing here?!

As if he could sense my confusion, JK flopped dramatically onto the couch, but the hand holding the weapon never wavered. Jimin sat next to him, still glaring at me with a darkened expression. Then JK started talking and I couldn't believe my ears at what I heard.

"About one year and a half ago, I get a resignation letter from you through the door of my office that you were withdrawing from the gang, and you were joining EXO, even getting married to one of their members to keep your place without having to go through an initiation process. I looked for you everywhere for an entire year, but nothing came up. Then I hear that EXO's Kai got married to a girl named Alex and was moving back to Korea, but in Busan, after travelling a couple of months. I want answers."

Now I was mad. Jackson had lied; he'd told me every time he came to see me that Jungkook didn't know where I was and had given up searching months ago. What he hadn't told me was that he had set me up.

"I would never give a resignation letter through a door for starters, because that's coward behaviour. And I had no reason to leave the gang because it was my home."
