False Alarm

Yue was surrounded by almost a dozen men in black.

She was knew her chances of escaping from their clutch would be almost nil.

She learned some self defense but she didn't think that would help either way, these men look very professional.

She didn't expect she would be discovered before she can do anything significant, isn't she just a burden this way?

Well, she's new at this kind of thing, she's really helpless.

She just hope they didn't know that she's Yyan's sister.

But her hope was dashed as soon as the leader of the men in black opened his mouth.

"Greetings to Miss Yue" the leader stepped up.

Yue blinked. Is there a villain who greets their target first.

Yue calmed down for a second and analyzed the situation again.

The men in black maybe intimidating but they didn't bear any malice towards her. She thought of an idea.

"Are you here to stop me from entering the forest?" Yue threw the question.

"Yes Miss, we cannot allow anything bad to happen to you" the leader replied politely.

"Since when have you been tailing me?" Yue was now trying to confirm her suspicion.

"Ever since Miss left the capital. Assistant Yi arranged for us to protect Miss from the shadows but we have to step out this time in order to stop Miss from doing something dangerous" the leader was honest in his answer and even explained the details of their action. Seeing their earnestness, Yue relaxed.

She should've already thought that she won't be left alone, otherwise how could her brother be at ease to leave her.

"Next time you can inform me if you're within the vicinity. Do you know where my brother could be at this moment?"

"Yes Miss, we can bring you to his headquarters right away"

"Lead the way" Yue wanted to curse Assistant Yi for not letting her knew of their existence, else she wouldn't be running about like a headless chicken.

There were actually six cars used by her bodyguards. She couldn't comprehend how she missed them, but it just shows that they're an elite team.

They arrived at an old two story building at the suburbs.

The cars were parked underground.

They rode an elevator, but instead of going up, they go further down.

Yue didn't know how far down they were, the elevator didn't indicate the floors. It took quite some time before it stopped.

They were greeted by a long hallway with series of check points.

Along the way, they met some people who curiously glanced at her, but they didn't ask any question.

She noticed that most of them have murderous aura and serious faces.

This must be one of the bases of their family's underground operation.

Now Yue wasn't so sure if she should be here.

But she knew the guards wouldn't bring her here if Yyan didn't allow them to.

They stopped by a door and Chen, the leader of the guards knocked three times.

"Come in" when they heard the permission to enter, Chen motioned for Yue to enter and left together with the others.

Her heart was beating fast but she didn't delay and opened the door.

Yue saw Yyan with his eyes close while leaning on his chair.

He looked so haggard, obviously lacking sleep.

Even stubbles can be seen on his face.

It seems like he also lost some weight.

Yue walked silently besides him and her hand reached out to touch his face.

Suddenly, Yyan's eyes opened and sharply stared at her. He also twisted her hand that was about to touch his face.

Yue didn't shout for pain but tears are threatening to fall from her eyes.

Yyan was shocked awake when he saw that Yue was about to cry. He immediately loosen his hold of her hand but he didn't let go.

At first, he thought that the person who knocked had something to report. Since it was his person, he didn't bother to open his eyes, he wouldn't expect an assassin would knock first before killing him. But when he felt the other party trying to silently approach him, he became vigilant. When the person tried to reach for his face, he automatically defended. Who would have thought that it would be his Yue who sneaked beside him.

Yue didn't know why but the moment she saw Yyan, her chest felt stifled.

She felt her nose souring just thinking about how he spent the past couple of days.

She didn't feel much during the time that she's trying to contact him or when she first felt uncomfortable knowing he might face some danger, but now that he is in front of her, she felt the horror of the situation.

What if he didn't manage to escape from his enemies the first time?

What if she didn't learn about the plan of his enemies today?

What if she didn't manage to get to him in time?

It dawned to Yue how she took Yyan's presence for granted. If anything bad were to ever happen to him, she didn't even want to think about it, but then her tears already flooded her eyes.

Yyan was startled. He didn't know whether to comfort Yue first or to wipe away her tears.

He wanted to hit his own face. He knew he applied too much force when he twisted her hand, else why would she cry so much.
