Meeting You Hundreds of Years Before

Yue felt someone carried her away from the pool but she was too tired to open her eyes.

Along the way, she sensed that the one carrying her stopped to greet someone.

She can vaguely hear the voice of the other party.

"Greetings, General Yan" the maids had to bring the miss back urgently but they can't ignore the presence of the General of the Country and had to stop.

"You seem to be in urgent business. Please go ahead" the general was a cold person but was not irrational.

"Thank you General" the maids continued carrying the miss back to her room, but as they passed by the general, he seemed to hear someone calling him brother.

He looked back to see if it was the lady the maids are carrying, unfortunately, he wasn't able to confirm his thought as they already took a turn.

Yue didn't know how she had slept but she felt so refreshed after waking up.

The purification had to be performed for seven days and Yue can only be grateful that the pain lessens each time she had to go through it.

The days passed and she was able to determine that she went back hundreds of years ago when the Salhura Province was once a flourishing country.

Yue can only deduce that the fog induced this illusion, but somehow everything feels so real.

Yue wasn't able to meet anyone besides the maid for the past few days, but after the purification was done, she was allowed to roam around the temple.

Yue was able to bump on several maids and although they treat her with respect, once they turn their backs, Yue can hear some snickering, gloating, or pitiful remarks.

Apparently, Yue took the body of Anita, the sister of Alita. They were twins abandoned in front of this temple.

As Anita and Alita grew up they were given special treatment and care by the temple.

The other maidens were jealous of them and often bullied them specially Alita who has a weak constitution.

Anita was able to protect her on several occasions but not every time. This caused some trauma on Alita.

But as the years passed by, Alita exhibited the power to become the High Priestess. All of a sudden, everyone treated her in reverence, and Anita was gradually ignored.

The twins tried to be close to each other but the responsibilities that Alita had to take pulled her away from Anita.

These days, Anita had sneaked in and out of the temple to explore the town.

Although she was rarely caught, the times when the High Priest do, she would be subjected to punishment of fasting and imprisonment to dark room.

But this didn't stop her from longing and experiencing the world.

Anita didn't want to be confined in the temple, so she decided that after the ceremony, once her sister was appointed to be the High Priestess, she would escape and never return to this place.

This information came to Yue while she had undergone the purification.

Yue was still not sure of her role in this story, but she felt that as she continues to go along, she'll be able to determine the origin of the pendant.

Yue was in deep though as she walks along and bumped into a hard surface.

Yue touched her forehead which is in pain.

"I apologize; I didn't see you coming" a handsome voice came looming above Yue.

"Brother!" Yue heard the voice of Yyan and delightedly looked up, but her expression was immediately replaced with disappointment.

Although the man in front of her looks and sounds like her brother, but he is not the same person.

"I'm sorry, I mistook you for another person. I also apologize for not seeing the road properly" Yue hid her sadness and reflected on her mistake.

General Yan didn't know why he was annoyed when he saw the disappointment on the maiden's face.

In fact, a man of his caliber would be able to avoid the collision but he didn't know why he didn't do so.

Ever since he first saw her, even if he wasn't able to see her face, but he could never forget their encounter.

Just seeing her walking today, he was so sure that she was the maiden who fainted back then.

He thought it would be fun teasing her who seemed to be lost in her own thoughts.

This is not something he would normally do and his men would surely felt aghast if they learn of his doings today.

But the maiden is thinking of another man.

Last time, he was sure she also called him brother.

But who is this brother. General Yan could suddenly feel his blood boiling.

Yue would have been baffled by the workings of the General's mind had she known.

"It's alright, there's no harm done. But the maiden should be careful lest you encounter some accidents along the way" General Yan suppressed his inner tempest and only showed his care for the lady.

"You're right. Thank you for your concern" Yue can feel that the man is kind, and adding the looks of her brother, she can't help but lower down her guard.

"Is the maiden alright these days?" General Yan continued to show his concern, not wanting to let go of this opportunity to get to know the maiden better.

"Huh?" Yue didn't expect that the man would continue the conversation and acted like he knew her.

"A few days ago, I happen to see you fainted" the General who discovered his shameless side didn't think the situation to be awkward.

"Ahh, that would probably be after I go through purification. I'm through all that stuff" Yue hid her face when she heard him witness her embarrassment.

"Could the maiden be the candidate for the High Priestess?" the General frowned. The day for the appointment of the High Priestess is near. She should be going through rituals, and if the maiden is one of the candidates, he might have to take drastic measures to steal her away.

"No, that would be my sister. I'm just an ordinary person" Yue quickly denied.

"Then, do you plan on continuing to serve the temple?" General Yan was relieved but continued to probe.

"Well, you have to keep this a secret. I actually plan on escaping after they appointed my sister" Yue didn't like the restrictive environment whether she embodies Anita or herself. She didn't want to change anything of this story as well so she decided to go with the original plan.

"Then, if you still have no place to go, you can stay at my General's mansion" hearing her plan, General Yan didn't not hesitate to grab the opportunity. And once the maiden entered his home, he would make sure she'll never be able to get out.

"Then I would gladly take that offer" Yue didn't think that the man is serious but was glad she would have that option. But she also didn't think that she'd be entering the tiger den if ever that happened.

"May I know the gentleman's name then?" Yue didn't forget to ask who she has to look for in case she really had to stay at his place.

"Ahh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Yi Yan. How about the maiden?" General Yan was embarrassed about his inappropriateness.

"I'm-"

"Sister!"
