Fate of Faith

Within the space of few hours, the happy family that has a dancing father on his feet became bland, sour, heartbroken and bittered.

It was the hour of the midnight in a country where the public health system is just recuperating. The only choice the Biobaku's family has is to rush Mr Biobaku who got shot between the space of the chest and his shoulder to a private hospital, but either dead or alive nobody knows.

The strike of the gunshot woke the entire neighbors, this actually attracted the men of the neighborhood to divide themselves into two factions. One, to locate where the shot came from and to make effort in nabbing the culprits and two, to rush Mr Biobaku to the nearest hospital. But as luck will have it for these robbers, they already fled the scene. However, as luck will have it against them, haplessness befell them as the injured one among could no longer find his feet, this actually made him wobble and waddle. Thus, the other one who seem untouched by the strike of Mr Biobaku's cutlass left behind his fellow evil compatriots as he realizes that he can't make it too far as he hears echoing voices shadowing them. He left with the stolen money while his other cohort is struggling to hide himself and escape after losing so much blood from the cut..

The other faction of the neighbors are on the rush to get Mr Biobaku to the nearest hospital.

Mrs Biobaku, Sade and Aduke are all buried in tears and fears of not losing her husband and father respectively. Surprisingly, Ayo is no where to be found. This flamed another panic as some neighbors waited behind to search for Ayo.

"Where is your brother?" Mrs Biobaku tearfully asked Sade.

"I don't know mommy, few minutes ago we were both crying." Sade replied..

The midnight became akin to daylight, the only discerning difference between them is the absence of sunlight. Everyone in the neighborhood is busy, all in the effort to save Mr Biobaku, catch the robbers and find Ayo.

A private hospital was reached, but they said the doctor ain't around and the nurses on the watch can't handle the severity of the shot.

Is this not doom for Mr Biobaku and his family?

Luck was on his side on a Monday and on at the dark hours of Tuesday, luck seems to be against him.

Nobody knows how long a human can keep the force of a bullet in the skin, but they all do not want to take the risk of giving up on Mr Biobaku.

The dripping of blood isn't just coming from Mr Biobaku but also coming from the injured robber who was deserted by his friend.

He is taking it a step at a time as he is too weak to make a run. He hears voices mounting closer to him, this doubled the racing of his pulse as he believes that his waterloo nears him and that's similarly close to either losing his life or rotting in jail.

He kept acting brave as he relentlessly kept changing his hiding spot and position so as not to get traced by his blood. This time, his fellow deserted him and his blood did the same by giving his chasers a path to his shade.

Eventually, they located another private hospital but it was a different narration this time. The doctors and nurses on watch all have their hands tight attending to other patients while they still have a list waiting for them, all are emergency cases..

"God, what have we done to deserve this? Please help us" Mrs Biobaku emphasized..

Aduke who is tired of trekking and panting sidelined herself from the crowd, she knelt down with tears endlessly running down her cheeks stretching her hands forward and saying;

"I know there is God, he is the one who is looking after sister Layo. Dear God, this time, I want you to look after my dad and save him. My dad must not die.

He is not too young to die but I'm too young to be fatherless, please save him.

I love him (She bursted out in tears).

And please, help me to save Ayo too.

What an act of bravery from the little girl.

Hope is already leaving the sides of the carers of Mr Biobaku has they approach the last private hospital in the community.

Few minutes later, they saw a car approaching.

Everyone waving their hands so as to encourage the car to stop and lift the dying man to the hospital not knowing to them that help was genuinely approaching them.

It was Ogbeni Alakija and Ayo who also has Aduke in the car.

What a bravery act from the 14 year old teenager, he chose to find help to save his father from a different angle, running kilometers to seek Ogbeni Alakija.

Mr Biobaku isn't just blessed with brilliant kids, he is also blessed with brave kids.

Hence, Ogbeni Alakija didn't come alone, he came with his family nurse who had equipped herself before coming.

They hurriedly drove to the third hospital, due to the influence of the professional nurse, she was privileged to host Mr Biobaku in and medically attend to him in an attempt to save his life.

Apparently, its beyond the hands of the nurse or her level of professionalism but totally in the hands of destiny cause Mr Biobaku has lost too much blood. But hope is not lost, as the nurse is fighting to save the life of Mr Biobaku, so are the family and neighbors fighting with prayers in different forms to save the life of the dying man..

"Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner."

The hideous robber couldn't continue his bravery as he was too weak to move. The trace of the dripping of his blood led the vigilant neighbors to his hide out.

Despite breathing on his last breath, still the angered neighbors couldn't hesitate not inflicting more pain through punches and other forms of hits.

"Hold it guys, hold it!

This man must not die, we were told they were two, through him we will be able locate the other and you all should remember that we must not put justice into our hands, we should learn from the story of Falana." A neighbor said.

"Oh, that's true." Another neighbor acknowledged.

They lifted him up, trying to fix him in an hospital to get emergency treatment.

After 30 minutes of battle between death and life in the hands of the nurse, Ogbeni Alakija who couldn't stop panicking got the information from the trying nurse that destiny kept Mr Biobaku alive.

"Congratulations, he survived." The nurse said.

Ogbeni Alakija fiercely hits his fit on his palm saying"Yes" with thousands of smiles on his face.

He went out to break the news to the Biobaku's family and the sleepless crowds.

The dark day which has lost its sight becomes blurry but eventually it will become white again.

Prayers were answered, God listened.

Fears were buried, bravery paid..

"Everybody cannot save everyone but everyone can save someone".

Mr Biobaku survived.

The weak robber got a space in the hospital too and was treated by the nurse where neighbors are exchanging shift to ensure he doesn't escape before dawn where he will squarely begin to have his days of confession and justice..

"The fate of faith is Never Giving Up."
