Its the dawn of a Monday, while Olu awaits his prey to get victimized and lose his throne, Ayo also awaits not being a scape goat to the brutality plotted by Olu and his cohorts.
However, Sade who has the phobia of Mathematics in her soul is also hoping to have a glorious and a promising way to round up her FEC exams..
Hence, Mrs Bernard who kept Mr Bernard in the shadow of innocence keeps wondering why her son is exhibiting the threat of a devil. Lots of rhetorical question running through her mind, she even doubted if truly she was his mother but it was all borne of her agonized heart.
Like an African proverb says;
"When you use your right hand to scold your child for doing what is wrong, you use your left to pamper him/her."
"No matter how bad Olu might have grown to be, he is still my son." Mrs Bernard soliloquized.
Ayo who had arrived school before anyone does felt its now a war of the smartest, he arrived very early in school so as to be protective and to never let anyone intrude their reversed plot.
This time, he never came to school with his younger sister (Aduke) because she might not meet up with his hurriedness or rather, slowed him down.
But Aduke joined him few minutes later as Ogbeni Alakija picked Aduke up from her home after Soyinka had suggested that her father should go pick both Ayo and Aduke up to school but Ayo had been in school some minutes after the third cockcrow.
"Good Morning sir," said Ayo.
"Good Morning Ayo, I hope you had a great weekend?" Replied the Principal.
"Yes, I did sir," Ayo replied the principal with a gleeful heart.
He aided the principal with his bag by collecting it and dropping to it in his office.
"Ayo, Ayo.
Your Excellency sir.
We greet you, just remember that we are still your senior in this school. So, we are still ahead of you. You might be the president but we own the nation, we are men.
However, get prepared." Olu and his friends mockingly said to Ayo.
Ayo who has always been a brave boy also responded to their berating words, he said;
"Sure, you're still a class ahead of me and i know some of you are perhaps older than me but that doesn't change the fact that i'm privileged to lead the nation of this school in the midst of men like you (Just as you described yourself to be)."
"Guys, let's leave his excellency alone, let's not distract him in discharging his duties.
Its time for the morning assembly, let's go.
But wait, where is Tao? Olu asked.
Tao is one of Olu's cohort who planned the plot against Ade but his absence brought concerns to the heart of Olu because Tao has always been around him.
Olu and his demonic friends decided to upheave their plot by calling the principals attention to the money they planted in the locker of Ayo and blackmailing him to be a thief, that they saw him when he was exhibiting such unholy act.
By getting to the principals office they met Tao in the office, they were astounded because he never discussed meeting with the principal on the day of activating their plot.
As Olu entered the principals office, he lost his words because the momentum of the room tells him that something is wrong, perhaps, Tao has confessed and leaked their plot to the principal.
"Why son?
Why?
Why?
Why would you do something of such?" The principal repeatedly asked.
"I'm sorry Olu, I just couldn't hold the conscience to myself." Tao said with tears dropping down his cheeks.
The principal continues;
"I checked my drawer this morning, I realize my money is gone, it wasn't stolen by anyone but taken by my son to blackmail an innocent boy."
The assembly bell rang, the principal discharged them all to go to the assembly.
The entire Olu's team who got involved in the plot already knew that its gonna be a bad day for them.
As the principal joined the assembly, so did Mrs Bernard hurriedly came to the school to reveal the realities behind the plot and hear her son's confession to this allegation.
The principal instructed one of the teachers to bring Ayo's locker and redeem the money in front of the entire school.
Mrs Bernard Interrupted;
"Before you go teacher.
Good Morning sir's and ma's.
Good Morning my darling students."
"Good Morning ma," The students chorused.
"Yesterday, i got the information that some money were placed inside locker of Ayo by Olu and his friend, they came to inform me and to my dismay we met it exactly as it was said.
So yesterday, we came to school and took the money from Ayo's locker into that of Olu's locker so as to save the innocent boy from suffering from what he knows nothing about.
Now, teacher you can bring Olu's locker instead ( Mrs Bernard said to a teacher) and we need to hear from Olu himself. Olu is my son and I love him but I won't be calm when he plants bad deeds against innocent people.
Olu and his team went out and Olu said with tears dropping down his cheeks;
"I'm sorry mom and dad, I'm sorry Ayo, it was the devil.
I was jealous of you, I wanted to be the Head boy, I wanted to be best friends with Soyinka, I wanted to have the attention of the school like you did, I guess I never knew that pulling an innocent man down doesn't make someone great.
I'm was driven by power and fame and blinded by my ego.
I'm responsible for this cause I lured my friends into it.
Please forgive me." Olu concluded.
"As a father, I am heartbroken and as a teacher, I'm disappointed, but I'm glad that an innocent soul did not suffer for what he knows nothing about.
The case of Olu should teach us that the success of an egoistic mind is always stymied by his mindset of seeing every successful person as a competitor, let's learn never to deface someone because we wanna be great, learn from the story of my son but don't be like him. Don't be like Olu!!!" The principal concluded.
