"I don't understand, why should I go with you?" - Knightwalker asked with a frown.
It had been a week since she had been forced to work as Kurama's [Combat Maid], time that honestly her life had improved considerably.
She now didn't have to be fighting to the death, or following ridiculous orders, she only had to do demeaning work like cleaning the house, or taking care of the girls, though the latter wasn't so bad.
"Because it is the duty of the maid, to follow her master" - Kurama answered calmly.
"He's right" - nodded Virgo, a beautiful pink-haired girl in a maid's outfit who was hanging from the mast of the ship they were boarding - "By the way, thank you very much for the punishment, Kurama-sama."
"Don't mention it, I have experience with people like you" - Kurama replied while making a hand motion, which made the girl end up upside down.
"I feel the blood going to my brain, this is the best punishment I've received in years" - said Virgo while blushing, although those present didn't know if it was because of the excitement or because of the blood going to her head.
"I'm having serious trouble comprehending this situation" - muttered Lucy as she gave an embarrassed look at her summoning.
Kurama shrugged at this as he looked curiously at the surroundings.
They were heading to [Tenrou Island], the supposed sacred land for [Fairy Tail], and the place where the tests to become an S-rank mage were held.
The trip was going along quite normally, at least if you ignored the sound of a loud slapping, it echoed constantly.
Kana was slightly embarrassed because the person who was receiving those slaps, was none other than her biological father, Gildarts Clive, the strongest mage in [Fairy Tail], though this he didn't know. She had been waiting to become an S-Rank mage, so she could tell him the truth.
Gildarts was a tall, muscular man with dark brown, almost reddish hair.
"There was no need to use violence," Gildarts muttered as he cupped his cheek.
"Be thankful it was only a slap, human" - growled Lucoa, who was glaring hostilely at the strange man who had been constantly annoying her - "And what part of I have a husband, don't you understand?"
"Wait, you have a husband?" - Gildarts asked in surprise, only to be embarrassed - "I'm sorry, I didn't hear that part, had I known, I wouldn't have tried to flirt with you."
Lucoa narrowed her eyes as she watched the man retreat, though she did nothing to attack him because she could sense he wasn't lying, which made her fury subside a bit.
"Are you all right, Lucoa-sama?" - Wendy asked with concern.
"Yes, you don't have to worry about me, little one," Lucoa smiled as she stroked the little girl's blue hair.
Wendy let out a small giggle before running to her teammate.
Kurama watched all this with a smile, though it was a pity that only Lucoa could come with him because Ultear had a mission to do together with Meredy, and Tohru was taking care of Kanna together with the guild.
Makarov was thankful for this, because at least now there would be no danger of things getting out of hand if something happened on the island.
It was unlikely, but the possibility was there.
"Why didn't you do anything to defend me?" - Lucoa asked as she gave her husband a flirtatious look.
"One, because I could sense that he was a herbivore posing as a carnivore, second, because you are strong enough to defend yourself alone, and in case things got out of hand, I would intervene" - Kurama answered honestly.
"Hmm, I'll let it go for this one" - smiled Lucoa as she sat on her husband's legs with a smitten smile.
"Hey, there are kids present" - said Carla as Wendy covered her eyes with her paws, though the curiosity was too great.
"Putting this aside, I'm surprised you didn't bring Laxus, old man" - said Gildarts as he shrugged at the scene in front of him.
"He said he had better stay to make sure all is fine in the guild, and while I don't know how he changed so drastically, I'm grateful for that miracle" - Makarov replied happily.
His grandson had returned to his childhood self, and was much kinder, although he was still gruff in front of his peers, but they could notice this change.
"Ugh, my stomach hurts" - muttered Natsu, who looked like he was about to throw up from the constant motion of the ship.
"Are you okay, Natsu?" - Lissana asked as she looked at her childhood friend.
"Relax, this is a normal thing" - replied Happy as he sat on his mother's head.
"If Natsu wasn't a childish idiot, I'd think those two make a cute couple" - Lucy said while the other girls in the group nodded.
Gray, for his part, just looked at the sea in silence as he thought about the past, especially the moments he had lived together with Ur and Lyon.
"Rivals in love, each one of them" - muttered Juvia, who was looking at Lucoa with jealousy.
"Why don't you just go and talk to him straight out?" - Gray asked bored - "Kurama-san has more than one wife, one more won't make a difference."
"Really?" - Juvia asked in surprise as she looked at Gray with realization - "You're a genius, why Juvia didn't think of this before?"
Gray felt offended because it was as if the girl was trying to tell him he was an idiot for remarking on the obvious.
"Did I say something wrong?" - Juvia asked in surprise as she noticed how her companion frowned.
"No, it's nothing," Gray replied as he shook his head as it was obvious he was overthinking things.
"You really don't want to come?" - Kurama asked as he looked at the red haired girl - "Fine, then you'll be in my pocket dimension."
Knightwalker let out a cry of surprise as she was swallowed by a strange portal, while everyone averted their eyes because they didn't want to get in the way.
* * * * *
"This presence" - muttered a young black-haired man as he slowly opened his eyes - "I remember it".
He slowly looked around, and noticed that he was resting in what appeared to be a giant tree in the middle of a lush forest.
Without a second thought, he began to jump into the tree branches until he reached the top - "An island?"
He didn't remember what had happened or how he had gotten to this place, nor how long he had been sleeping, but what he did know, was that this place was extremely familiar.
The young man, quickly got down from the tree and walked around until after a few minutes, he came to a gravestone.
"Mavis" - the young man murmured as he touched the gravestone affectionately - "It has been a while, though now I understand why this place was familiar, after all, it is the island that your guild considers sacred ground, not knowing the blood-filled history that plagues this land."
An illusory silhouette appeared in front of the black-haired man as she tried to touch his face, but before she could do so, she stopped - ". . ."
"Mavis?" - asked the black-haired man as he looked in the direction of the silhouette - "You're here, aren't you?"
"Zeref" - said the silhouette, though her voice was not heard by the black-haired man.
"I know you're close, though I can't see you" - muttered the man as he sighed regretfully - "I wonder if you still hate me?"
I don't hate you, I love you, and I will always love you" - replied the small silhouette as she sighed regretfully.
"You may not know this, but your guild is going through a great change, all thanks to the involvement of a traveler from another world" - Zeref said as he turned around - "Soon it will be time for us to meet face to face, and that will be the time for my plans to resume"
"Zeref, what you are doing is wrong" - Mavis said regretfully as she began to sob - "This will only make your destiny one filled with pain."
"I don't know what you're saying, but I can assure you there's no way I'll change my mind, not when I'm this close to finally wipe that thing out" - Zeref replied as he shook his head - "And if I can't make it, I'm at least hopeful that they can finish the job"
"They?" - Mavis repeated as she watched her guild's ship, slowly approaching towards the island - "Do you mean them?"
Mavis was confused because she could feel some strong mana signatures, and there was even one person who had a life force and energy that were far superior to the others.
"Strange, there is a person who has no aura" - Mavis said with a frown as she slowly wiggled her nose - "Which is strange because even the person with the least magical talent, has a mystical aura around them, but this man has nothing, it's like he doesn't exist"
Mavis was interested in this strange existence, but for now she would keep her head down, after all, she had to keep watching Zeref as long as he was on the island.
