Koga narrowed his eyes before focusing on his companions.
"Hakkaku is right, Koga" - said Ginta, the other wolf demon - "I'm sorry that our leader attacked you, it's just that he's furious about the death of our brothers"
"I understand his fury, but..." - Kurama said, though his expression changed when he felt a familiar aura on the wolf clan leader's legs - "I see, shards of the pearl on your legs and right arm."
The expression of Koga and his two subordinates, changed when they heard this.
Koga stood on guard as the others retreated to safety.
"They think you need the shards, Kurama-san" - Shippo said as he shook his head. He had seen everything Kurama could do, and had also heard a few stories from Kagome while he was in the present era.
Kurama just smiled before releasing some of his aura.
Koga sweat dropped as he felt death in front of his eyes, though he let out a sigh of relief as he felt the silver-haired man's aura disappear.
"Kurama-san!" - A female voice exclaimed from inside the cave.
Ayame quickly came out of hiding after feeling the oppressive aura of the Kitsune Daiyokai, after all, he had an unmistakable presence, though the girl's expression changed when she saw Koga with a pale face - "Koga-sama!"
"Who are you?" - Koga asked as he saw this strange woman from his clan.
Ayame's expression changed when she heard this.
"Koga, she's the girl you saved years ago" - Ginta replied as he tried to make his friend remember.
"The girl I saved?" - Koga repeated as he frowned and started to remember, though he still couldn't remember - "I'm sorry, I don't remember."
Ayame's expression darkened when she heard this as Hakkaku and Ginta shook their heads as this was typical of their leader.
"Did I really save you?" - Koga asked as he kept his attention on the silver haired Kitsune.
"Yes, you even promised me that you would marry me," Ayame replied as she bit her lip.
"I did?" - Koga asked in surprise as he tried to remember, though honestly he didn't remember, nor did he wish to because he had so many more important things to do now - "Listen, I'm sorry you got the wrong idea, but I don't have time for games, I still have to avenge my brothers."
"I-I..." - Ayame murmured with tears in her eyes.
"Really, I'm sorry" - said Koga as he focused his attention on the silver haired man - "So, you weren't the one responsible for this attack?"
"I have no reason to, besides, if you want to confirm it, you only have to talk to the children inside the cave" - Kurama replied with a frown - "I came to protect Ayame-san."
"You came to protect me?" - Ayame asked in surprise.
"Yes, your grandfather told me about this and asked me to come and keep an eye on you" - replied Kurama calmly.
"Oh, I see..." - Ayame muttered regretfully.
"But that doesn't mean we can't do something while we go back, maybe visit some villages or something, I don't know, you choose" - sighed Kurama seeing the desperation in the girl's look.
"Really?" - Ayame asked in surprise.
"Sure" - nodded Kurama as he looked at the girl.
Ayame smiled before nodding, only to look at Koga with a self-conscious expression. She still loved the leader of the wolf clan, but his words had caused her a lot of grief.
Koga felt as if he had made a mistake, though he quickly shook his head and walked toward the cave.
"I'm sorry he acted like that, it's just that he has a lot on his mind" - Ginta said as he ran after their leader.
"Ginta already said what's going on, I still apologize" - said Hakkaku as he ran after his two friends.
Ayame was silent before letting out a sigh and walking to the Kitsune Daiyokai.
"I'm sorry" - Kurama said as he was sorry that things ended this way for the wolf girl.
"No, you have no reason to apologize, I guess my grandfather was right" - replied Ayame as she lowered her head.
"Come on, maybe the trip back will be more fun" - Kurama said as the two walked in silence.
"Tell me, what should I do?" - Ayame asked as she looked at the silver-haired Kitsune.
"Honestly, I can't tell you what to do, because that's for you to decide" - said Kurama as he shook his head - "The only advice I can give you, is to follow your heart."
"But..." - Ayame muttered before shaking her head - "I understand, thank you, I guess."
Kurama sighed before heading towards the girl.

"Koga, I don't think that was a good idea" - Ginta said as he looked at his leader - "She really looked heartbroken."
"I know, but it doesn't compare to our situation" - Koga replied neutrally - "Look, our clan is almost completely wiped out, there are only 3 adults and possibly 5 children left."
"That doesn't mean you have to treat that girl like that though" - Hakkaku replied with a frown - "I'm sure you remember that girl"
"Yes, I remember her, but I can't give her what she wants" - Koga said as he walked along with his two friends to the place where the little survivors were - "Children!"
"Koga!" - roared the children in fury at the sight of their leader, the same one who according to their little perspectives, had abandoned them.
"This is not the reception I had expected" - muttered Koga with a frown.
"Well, we weren't there during the attack, so it's obvious that they are furious" - said Ginta while taking into account the children's point of view - "Besides, they are hurt for having lost their families."
Koga's expression darkened as the children began to cry and scream at them.
"Koga... What do we do?" - Ginta asked as he frowned.
"I think the best thing to do, is to let them go with that girl to the other clan, there at least they can be safe" - muttered Koga neutrally.
"Ok, we'll have to call those two to help us though" - said Hakkaku as he watched Koga disappear in a flash.
"Seriously, this couldn't get any worse" - muttered Ginta with a heavy expression - "Who am I kidding, things are about to get complicated because now we're going to go to those winged things."
"I just hope it doesn't go that bad" - said Hakkaku seriously.
"It doesn't matter if everything gets complicated, our only mission is to keep Koga alive" - replied Ginta with a serious face - "After all, he's the only chance to avenge our brothers."
"You're right, that's our mission" - Hakkaku muttered while clenching his fists.

"Wait, we have a guest" - said Kurama as he looked back.
Ayame looked in the same direction as the silver-haired man, only to see a small tornado coming at full speed.
"I didn't expect you to come after us" - said Kurama as he raised an eyebrow.
"That's because I didn't plan on it, though now there's something I need to ask of you" - Koga replied as he stepped out of the tornado.
Ayame looked at Koga with excitement because maybe he had changed his mind, multiple thoughts about the possible words of the wolf leader, went through her mind, though to her pain, what Koga was trying to say had nothing to do with her.
"I want you to take those children with you," Koga said seriously.
"You want my clan to protect them?" - asked Ayame with a frown.
"Yes, they are too young to continue this suffering" - answered Koga while looking at the girl with cold and emotionless eyes - "That's why I want them to go with you, at least in your clan, they will be able to recover from this pain with the help of other children of their age"
"I understand, I have no problem with taking them with us, although the decision is in Ayame-san's hands" - replied Kurama while pointing at the girl.
"Please" - muttered Koga as he bowed his head.
"You don't have to say anything else, I have no problem with them coming with us, in fact, I wish I would have asked it myself" - said Ayame as she shook her head.
"Thank you" - Koga said as he nodded - "I'm sorry for completely ignoring you".
"No, don't say anything else" - replied Ayame as she shook her head - "Come on, Kurama-san, let's go get the little ones."
"Ok" - nodded Kurama as he snapped his fingers, in the process making the 3 of them appear in front of the cave.
Ayame and Koga were surprised to see this, though they quickly ran inside the cave, so they could explain to the little ones the situation.
Kurama waited for a few seconds until he saw the 5 children were behind Ayame - "Are you ready?"
The children looked at the stranger with different emotions, though they quickly nodded when they saw how the wolf girl was like nothing.
"Alright, this will be quick" - Kurama said as he snapped his fingers.
Koga walked out of the cave, and watched as the group disappeared from the place, which left him shocked again.
"Are they gone already?" - Ginta asked in surprise.
"Yes, now we have one less problem, now it only remains to start with the preparations for the attack" - answered Koga seriously.
