Back to Normal 1/3

Feng Hao Walked beside his mother as the two girls were dropped off at their homes with a loaf of bread each, it was more Wan Ya being dropped off, afterwards Ming Ai wandered off, when everyone noticed that she disappeared, it was already too late. about 15 minutes were spent looking for where she went, but nothing was found.

Eventually everyone gave up, then Feng Jingyi placed Feng Long on her shoulder and Feng Hao walked beside her, they booked a hotel for the night. it was a little rundown, the walls looked like they were in need of replacement and the rooms were dusty and cold, but it wasn't terrible, the best were soft and warm, although they smelled a little, plus they were served hot water in the morning which was better treatment than anyone had expected.

Few words were shared on the way back, it was a long trip, both Feng Hao and his brother tucked into their mothers arm as she ran back. Feng Hao checked his status because of a lack off things to do.

Feng Hao took a moment to remember how he had laid out his status panel. a while ago he had configured the grey panel to have his skill sorted into folders, that way he would be able to easily find the skill he wanted to look at.

Although his memory of the time was fuzzy, no doubt because of the undeveloped brain, back before Feng Hao was born he had seen Feng Long use the status panel, he knew this was likely the case the other way around too, back then Feng Long probably could see his status panel too.

Currently His brother was under the effects of a moderately powerful illusion that made him unable to access his memories of the past, effectively allowing his to spend the first 3 years of his life without a mature brain so he wouldn't have to suffer the shame and weakness that came with being so young.

Feng Hao wondered if his brother was still capable of seeing other people status panels despite being under the illusion causing him to regress. He looked over at his sleepy brother and asked, "do you see a flat grey panel in front of me?"

Feng Long rubbed his eyes, clearing them of his tiredness. "Yeah, I do, what is the Brother Hao?" having his theory confirmed, Feng Hao closed the panel as is folded up disappearing with every fold. "Nothing to worry about Bro."

Feng Hao didn't ignore the strange closing of his status panel, when his bother was half asleep again he reopened and closed it several times.

Although it went back to just sliding open and shut, sometimes the panel would fold in or out again, its speed of doing so also depended on how he commanded it to open. back when he had completed the trials to get ranked and then reborn, his rewards had stated that the system had no intelligence, he doubted it would lie about this, so he began to ponder.

While being carried in his mothers arms certainly wasn't the most ideal condition for pondering, they would have to do. There were other ways to function without relying on intelligence, Feng Hao wondered if the system relied of sound, he mentally sent out a loud command that lacked urgency, the panel opened slowly and it slid into his vision from an area he couldn't see. it had once again done something new.

It wasn't based on sound, Feng Hao had an idea, perhaps it lacked intelligence, but it had instinct. Feng Hao tried to send it mixed messages, he sent out images of being safe an serine, while urgently commanding it to open.

Something unexpected happened, it bugged.

The system panel half opened before turning a red colour. it closed again before a message came up.

[Title Gained: @U=G#F1]

[permission to access the Chosen grid enabled, queue priority 11, access permission 1]

Feng Hao was confused and shocked, he had no idea what had just happened. Several minutes passed as he decided what to do this title was definitely something he should not have come across, it was bugged and its effects seemed beyond his comprehension.

When he tried to activate its effects, his vision darkened, yellow text filled the middle of his view.

[queue priority... 11, estimated time until queue is empty... forever]

Feng Hao eventually had to leave, he clearly couldn't do anything in the dark space, it was like a server, he would have to wait until the queue was empty until he could access whatever was inside. either that or his priority would have to be higher than the other 10 people which seemed to have access to this chosen grid.

Feng Hao had to end his curiosity, he was clearly getting nowhere and the scenery around him was getting more familiar, it would only be a minute or two until his large wooden house came into view.

Just a few moments after that, Feng Hao saw a small speck on the horizon. At first to is too small to be able to tell what it was, but a few minutes later is was clear that it was his house. a few more minutes passed and Feng Hao could now recognize several familiar figures littered around.

Normally the house would be surrounded by and filled with intricate wooden creatures, but now they were sitting immobile. They were his fathers self created spirit ability and they were rather cheap on spirit energy, so them being immobile can only mean that his father is knocking on deaths door.

He had been inflicted with a powerful poison 2 years ago, Feng Hao remembered the event clearly as it had been what allowed him to break out of the illusion which would have reduced his mental state to that of a newborn, that one his brother and all of the other reincarnated people were under.

The poison had left his father bedridden, it left a major strain on everyone else during that time and only recently had both his parents figured out a cure. That was the reason for the journey to vast sea city, to gather the materials needed for the cure.

After seeing the immobile statues, Feng Hao's mother put down both her children and rushed inside, pulling out a small bag of materials. Feng Hao followed her, dragging his brother inside too, when they reached their fathers bedroom, their mother had already pulled out a mortar and pestle and was mashing together various ingredients.

Shattered quartz dust, 4-heart soul flower, rotational fire lily, mystic buddha astragalus root, black jade rice and 100 year ginseng root.

Most of the ingredients were rare and expensive, they all contained healing and anti poison properties, but this combination in particular created rather mind blowing effects. It was capable of curing almost all poisonous effects. That was absurd in its own right, but it secondary effect was even crazier. The immunity would stick.

That immunity came with a price though, and a rather steep one at that, it was the reason why it wasn't used by all the rich and powerful. it had a serious effect on cultivation. Once consumed the quarts would become stuck in the blood stream, this made it's effects last a lifetime, but cultivation was interrupted by them, which could reduce cultivation speed by as much as 90%. Feng Hao's father was willing to end his cultivation for a chance at life.

Feng Jingyi finished mixing the concoction of various herbs, she looked to her husband who's condition was significantly worse than when she had left, that was because they took 2 days longer than expected, meaning he had to use up his spirit energy to control his wooden animals to take care of him when he should have been it to make sure he didn't get even more ill.

His skin was a pale white and his veins were various shades of purple, the purple lines were obviously swollen and looked rather painful, he breathing was ragged and bloods stains were everywhere from him coughing up blood which was forced into his lungs. His skin was covered in wounds which looked like lacerations because of the poison.

His eyes were filled with a viscous black liquid which would sometimes leak out of them, overall, it looked painful and disgusting. His breathing was haggard, barely escaping his dry cracked lips. Tears leaked from Feng Jingyi's eyes as she put the bowl to his lips and forced him to drink the medicine that would save his life but forever prevent him from growing his cultivation. having only 10% cultivation speed meant that the energy would escape his body before he could absorb it.

The dark green liquid filled with crystal dust entered him, and his breathing quickly became more relaxed, the effect was almost immediate as his veins quickly became a more normal colour and their swelling went down, the black liquid in his eyes became cloudy instead and exited as tears. But then he lurched upwards coughing up large quantities of blood, it seems that there had been some sort of adverse effect, the poison was counterattacking.
