An Adventure

Hazel got the feeling that Will had struggled during those years apart as much as she had from the way he spoke so cavalierly about his past. He didn't seem to care about anything but the fact that it was now behind him.

She should try to be the same way. They were together now and still had so much to do that they couldn't before.

"Did you really miss me that much?" was the final question she had for him. At least for now.

Will gently stroked her cheek with his thumb and planted a tender kiss on her lips before answering. "You were the only thing that kept me going, Hazel. The thought of seeing you again got me through a lot of lonely nights."

He may as well have stabbed her through the heart. The sadness tinging his voice was real. So he had missed her as much as she missed him. She had thought about him every day until the fake Billy came along and got her all confused.
