Hazel in the Demon's Den

Eva gestured for her to sit down before explaining. She apologetically brought up Abramson's prison visit with the Blade and how he claimed the only reason he hadn't killed her like the other children was that his son claimed that right first.


She thought she might be sick. A million times she had wondered why she was spared, especially as she got older and discovered that all the other couples' children had been killed as well.


Could this truly be the reason? Thornton was a murderer and a liar. His word couldn't be trusted. He might be trying to pin the blame on someone else.


He had said something to Hazel and gave her a twisted smile as he pulled his knife out of her mother to walk away but she could never remember what. That part of her memory had been blurred out despite reliving the event every night for years.
