I Don't Get You

Will hadn't realized how simple it would be to make Hazel happy. He had been so frustrated with being a parent when he had never wanted it in the first place and so put off by those discerning newborn eyes that he hadn't followed her most basic direction.

He chastised himself for his stupidity once he was alone. The main thing she asked of him really shouldn't be hard so why was he struggling this much?

Henry had been laughing at him earlier but Hazel said it was because he wanted to join in on his parents' fun. And then he put Will's finger in his mouth. The books he read said babies did that to test things out.

Was his son testing…him? Or was he reading too much into this? As his wife kept insisting, he was just a baby.

She also insisted that Henry liked him. Will wasn't sure. No one had ever liked him but Hazel. How could a baby that saw through to his very core possibly like him? He wasn't likable by normal human standards.
