Arriving at the bakery, Jasmine Yale put Sweet Kitty down on the ground and went to help the proprietor settle accounts.
The work wasn't long or intense in the evening, mainly involving tallying the accounts and checking the inventory.
Just as she set her backpack down, her phone rang.
An unfamiliar number.
"Hello."
"It's me," Sylvan Cheney's voice came through, "Have you arrived at the bakery?"
"Yes, I'm here."
"I forgot to tell you that there's a fireworks show on Lake Machigan tomorrow night. I'll pick you up after work."
"I don't plan to watch the fireworks," Jasmine knew about the show.
"Then you can let your cat accompany me. Can't watch the fireworks alone."
"Are you in Cakago by yourself?"
"I am," Sylvan replied indifferently, "I've accompanied you once before, so is it not okay for you to accompany me once as well?"
Jasmine remembered the year he had watched the fireworks with her.
That time it was in their homeland.
