Chapter 16 - SSS- Still Simply Single

"So, that means that I am not allowed to fetch you there?" (Sydney)

Their honeymoon lasted for one month. However, with the help of the IBT they could spend time with their daughter. Sometimes, after their sight seeing they would go home to Siksik City. Other times, they would be in the apartment at the Metro Commercial City. Although it was tiresome, still they found it delightful as they had begun knowing more each other.

They had already compromised with each other not only as husband and wife but also as the parents of their daughter.

They had also agreed that they would have Natural Family Planning. They just needed self-discipline and self- control. If God forbids them with some children despite self-control and self-discipline, so be it. If they would have an only child, they would accept it wholeheartedly.

During their conversation about the do's and the dont's in their married life, he revealed his problem about his sperm cell Fertilization.

Much as they were enjoying, they could never had extended their honeymoon as they had to attend to their daughter. They were aware that Grand Jim and Granny Reyna were already old to be disturbed by the fretting of their child aside from taking care of her.

As usual, Splash was left alone in her apartment as she had to work for her dream to be a victorious career woman.Her husband was understanding of her dream as during his early age, he, too, was just like her, he was also so enthusiastic to make wave in his chosen career.

It was only when he was deceived by the first woman in her life that he implored to his brother to overtake his role in supervising and managing their business firm.

It was that bitchy woman who cheated on him that an idea of becoming an inventor came into his mind. Originally, he was dying to invent a gadget that would easily gauge a woman's deception, loyalty, and fidelity.

His IBT was the mistaken result of what he was trying to discover.

He was thankful of his mistakes for it resulted to his marriage to her, a lady far better than that slutty woman.

Had it not for his IBT, he would had lost Ms Peace in his life. Imagine, despite that she had already given birth to her child, still, there was a need for him to cut her ribbon.

Until now, he could not believe of his luck. Not to mention that she was not a gold digger. She could not be trapped with his money...even by his good looks.

"a penny for your thought?" His wife distracted him.

"I'm just worried that you would be alone again here."

"What is that IBT for if you could not visit me?"

"Yeah... but.. Suppose we transfer our baby here?"

"What about the big space that you need for your VEAS?"

"Just leave it to me. Are we going to transfer our baby here?"

"Next school year as this school year is about to end."

"Are you alright if we're going to have our evening exercise on bed tonight?"

She bowed her head to hide her flushing face from him. He slowly pulled her chin upward and kissed her lips lasciviously. She objected as she protested that it was not yet night time.

Early the next morning, at exactly 4:00 o'clock, he teleported to the home where their child was residing. When she woke up, she read the note he posted at the wall where the dining table was put.

The content of his note:

To My One & Only Wife,

Darling I allowed you to be SSS once more.

Still Simply Single for six months. I knew that your eyes, mind and heart are meant to be for me only.

Thanks for being very honest with me. Take care of yourself because we care.

I will be missing our exercise. Just call me if you'd miss it, too. Okay? 😘

She smiled and continued eating.

At the office, she was in her usual mood just like before. She was all teasing them with her jokes through singing out of tune, by dancing wrong movements, and so on and so forth.

Her new status in life was inconspicuous to all of them. She was determined not to reveal it to them.

She was not only busy with her work but she was also busy with her studies to finish her Masters Degree. One year more, she would already be an

M. A. graduate.

Her child and her husband would be proud of her. In the office, she had no husband, only a child. She was well-marked as a single mother which she did not care at all. She was unaffected with their infringement.

Her office mates were all ears whenever she was talking to someone in her phone. One afternoon she was talking to her husband who was teasing and at the same time flirting with her.

Some were looking at her face to face, others were side glancing at her. They observed that she was blushing while talking to someone in her phone.

It intrigued them that when she hung they immediately surrounded her forcing her to confess whom she was talking to.

Who else would I be talking to but my chil? In her mind, she was mocking them for being golden awardees in gossiping. She thought that she needed not to tell them of her personal life. After all, it was her private life.

Whatever they did... However they tricked her, no information about her personal life was extracted from her.

She was regretful that she did not keep her pregnancy a secret. It was because she, too, can be blamed for bragging that she could be a mother even without a husband. Maybe, it was because her means of pregnancy was not hidden from her family. That was why she was confident that she wouldn't be affected by anyone's humiliation.

But when she experienced how they looked at her maliciously... how they ridiculed her... She decided to be more discreet.

Another day when she was pestered by them was an interview about the result of her husband's claim for their child's custody.

Again... She wouldn't tell them. In her thought she wished them to die in curiosity that made her grimace as she noted how bad her wish for them was.

Realizing that she was cursing them made her simultaneously asking forgiveness as she was signing the cross.

She was already done changing her status as a member of insurance agencies. She informed Sydney about it through a chat.

Overwhelmed with exhilaration, he called her at once. As he was so understanding not to reveal yet her married status in the office, she could not reject it even though most of her fellow workers were again ready to eavesdrop.

"Hello, Mrs Pearl Ace May Solis Britton. Thanks a lot for acknowledging my surname."

"Oh, it's nothing compared to your tolerance of my shortcoming."

"Do you know what message from you I have been waiting?"

"What?"

"That you're missing our evening exercise on bed"

"Do you want me to hit the red colored phone icon?"

"I'll come tonight."

"Okay"

And they hung up. Again... As usual... They tried very hard for her confession to no avail.

Instead of a direct questions they changed them to a more tactful ones. They asked if her child was English speaking which she answered "Yes". They also asked her if Mr. Britton had a contact with her.

"FIY... For your information, he went back home to his country. Are you all satisfied?"

Among them, only three knew her real status as they told them when her status in the insurance agencies was changed.... her boss, the book keeper as well as the disbursing officer who happened to be closest to her. She appealed to them to keep her status for two more months.

That late afternoon, when she arrived home in her apartment, she cooked a dinner for two. She also checked if a red wine and a whisky were inside the refrigerator.

She was all ready when... PLOK!!!

Her husband appeared. They kissed warmly but hindered the naughtiness of him as she was already hungry and tired.

They ate longer than the usual meal they had dined together as she was enjoying sharing the reactions and annoying attitudes and behaviours of her colleagues.

They laughed and high fived joyfully. Then they planned to give them a lesson by showing to themselves how annoying intruders were in the life of a peaceful- loving person.

At noon time the next day, she left her mobile phone on her desk as she went to the rest room. She was getting out of it when someone called her on her mobile phone.

The instigator stood up and pretended to borrow a log book but she side glanced at the flashing name and photo on the screen of her phone.

She saw the picture of her daughter with the name Baby Arm.

As if she saw nothing, she went back to her table next to hers.

Not yet seated on her chair, she picked her phone but she fumbled with the pressing of the green phone icon.

The call ended but was again followed with another call. That time she pressed it correctly.

"Did I pleasured you last night?"

Ms. Peace was blushing as she was bashful of the first dialogue he asked her. In her mind, she told herself, This man knew how to make my cheeks flushed. Then she answered shyly.

"One thousand percent!"

"Really?" At the other end, her husband was talking without any audience. She's learning to go with the flow.

"mhhhhm" She replied in her gentlest voice as if being caressed.

"What if... I come for you tonight again?"

"You will be over-fatigued." blushing again

"I have my vitamins, don't worry."

"Oh, I see."

"Are they eavesdropping again?" Ms. Peace intentionally twirled her swivel chair and caught the instigator looking at her intently holding her right ear.

"Yah... Ms instigator was all ears."

"Bye. Love you and take care."

As he hung up. Splash showed her mobile phone to her and asked her if she would like to know who her caller again.

As Ms Instigator was caught red handed by her, she was speechless.

"Does it matter a lot to you if my caller was that Britton man? Are you interested with him? I shall tell your live-in partner about it." She reproachfully told her.

"Hey, girl. It is not what you think. I am just happy for you." She explained guiltily.

"I am always a star for you as your attention is always focused to me. What if we do the opposite? How would you feel?"

"So sorry girl"

"So sorry girl... your ass"

"To make you happy, I am Still Simply single until now."She retorted and winked at her closest colleague.
