Chapter Nine

~Jeremy's memory~

Tears would fall out of Jeremy's eyes as he looked at his brother's face, but in the back of his head, all he could think was ~ok now I know I am dead. he would never cry in front of me.~ Jeremy would try to smile using his exposed jaw, and muscles would stretch, partly tearing as smooth fresh blood would trickle down to his half chared up body armor shirt. A shirt witch partially melted into him because of the mixed material that the shirt is made of. Then Sum would slowly and carefully help his brother up.

He would get lifted from the ground, and a burning sensation would overtake Jeremy. He would grunt and whine from the movement in pain as the heat from his body fails to subside. Then Sum could feel that he was hurting him as he would try to ignore his painful grunts of protest. The amount would look over to the PFC next to him to see if there were anyone else still alive. The young man did not hesitate to get his chance to leave the sight of Jeremy.

Trying to get feeling back in his feet, Jeremy try to take a step, refusing to be a burden to his brother no matter how painful it was. Here would take a small step, one by one. The little tearing in the souls of his feet, the puss that ran down his leg as it would pop slowly sizzling as the liquid ran like fire down his body. " I am dishonoring my family by being this weak; I should die please brother let me take my own life. Please, brother," Jermey would look at his brother as the pain would rip through his body as he would speak in small slurs. Tears would run down his face as he moves his body slowly, pleading to his brother. Feeling insulted, Sum would turn to his brother and say, " No, you would be dishonoring our family by giving up, being weak isn't a sin, but giving up is a disgrace to our ancestors. He would take a syringe out his pocket as he would grab his arm straight, stabbing him with the syringe filled with morphine to the bend of his arm. "you can still fight with me brother I won't let you die that easy". Relief would shoot through his body as he could no longer feel the slow burn of his injuries. Wide-eyed, he would smile a little, "we will get out of this brother."

~ St. Mary's Hospital, Room 26 ~

The room lay quiet as Dr. Lee left to get some rest herself following her daily schedule. The rooms were wrapped and tucked away in darkness as the full moon would peek through her window. LaVonne would lay in her bed, slowly going over what she remembered. A line on her forehead would form as she would strain to try to remember what happened. Feeling something of importance is missing; however, she doesn't know what. She would slowly try to pull herself up off the bed, driving her fist into the bed, she would try to lift her leg. Pain and numbness would fill her body as a sharp pain would shoot down her leg and would reach her feet." hmm, It seems like I can't walk yet." "How observant you are LaVonne, you are a brilliant genius, Captain Obvious" she would answer herself.

She would push her body into a resting position as she would just lay there in the darkness. Hours have passed since she had talked to Hermione and yet she feels like she was hiding something, and she can't figure out what. She trusts her on one hand but on the other hand, she feels like she is hiding some grave details about what they have spoken about earlier. More importantly, where is the AI she was fighting with that helped take down that titan.

LaVonne could remember a remarkable AI at her side when she was fighting. "I wonder what happened to that damn thing" looking towards the moon she thought she could hear the moans and screams of the wounded behind the thin hospital walls that surrounded her. A small shudder would run through her as the ghost in her mind would haunt her ear, letting silent tears fall from her eyes.

"Help us!" some would scream, "I can move, help me up," others would moan. "I am burning, Mommy mommy help!" one would run in the gray battlefield that would fill her mind as LaVonne would roll over to one side, clutching her head close to her chest. As sweat would fall from her face, She would rock back and forth, looking at the full judging moon.

" No, no, it's not my fault. I couldn't do anything, you were all dying." LaVonne would whimper in a small voice as if talking to someone she can't see. " I couldn't save all of you just the ones that wouldn't slow us down.....please please forgive me." the last words she would repeat over and over throughout the night till the sun would slowly start to rise.

The morning sun would light up the room softly, getting rid of the darkness that once filled the room. Wiping her face, LaVonne would sigh laying flat on her back again, ready to fall back into the false pretense that she is still in a coma. Two nurses would go into the room loudly flirting with each other as they would check Lavonne's vital's. " Hey, sugar have you heard of the people that keep going missing in the hospital?" A sharp snort would come from the female, like a high pitch winnie from a horse, "I bet she has a long nose" Lavonne would think as she would intently listen to more of the conversation. " yea I was on the night shift the other day and one of the lucky survivor's went missing out of his bed which was funny to me and a little weird because how can a man go missing if he didn't have any legs to move ya know." A small jingle of metal would be shuffled around on the nearest table. " I mean he could have wheel away if there were wheels on his chair. But there are also the cameras, they seem to stop working around the time when all these people begin to disappear .....you think that they are ok?

" To be honest that is a good question but it is really getting hard to tell the people with the families that we don't know where they went hell I already had my job treated a few times and some of them I really believe that I was gonna lose my job but the top brass has not said a word to any of us yet." As she stopped talking she would start to hum as they started to apply a blood pressure cuff on her arm. " Just the other day another guy left his room to get interviewed I think his name was Jeremy Wong. anyway, he was scheduled to be discharged this week to go back home to his husband to be. " A gasp was heard " Wait he was gay? that sucks I thought he was cute even with everything that happened to him he still had an infectious smile and attitude that makes you want to smile back."

"Huh so your cheating on me with a new guy?" the male nurse would reply " Oh shut up we are not even together." As the cute banter would move back and forth LaVonne would think over the name they said. Jeremy Wong....Jeremy Wong, why does he sound so familiar? and how do I know him..."wait, right that's his changed name? If that's the guy is who I think he is right he is of Asian descent and had a funny-sounding name and he changed it?" the male nurse would ask LaVonne's question, So there is a god LaVonne would think to her self. "Yea he even cracked a few jokes about it himself with is why he was my favorite." A small giggle would escape her " His real name on his file is Ho Lee Fuk."

They would laugh and talk some more But by then LaVonne would check out of there conversations remembered that name. A slow chill would run through her body as she wanted to cry in tears holding still as a stone not to break her cover. " His real name on his file is Ho Lee Fuk." That line would repeat over and over again in her mind. A migraine would start to form and then she heard the door click close again leaving her alone in the room again. She remembered someone his name was Sum Ting Wong and he was looking for his brother Ho Lee Fuk. tears would fall from her cheeks. "I need to save him because his brother saved me."
