I'm the idiot

Yu Chen's whole face was strained with tears.

Si Xia caught the sight if it only for a second before his grip relaxed, and Chen turned her face away.

Si Xia was immediately fluttered and he cried, "Oh my god!! I'm so sorry Chen! I'm so sorry! I'm an idiot!! Oh god!!!"

"No..... I'm.. I'm sorry. I'm acting...like a.... child." Yu Chen managed to speak in between her sobs.

Xia gently turned her around and hugged Chen, placing his cheek on the top of her head. Yu Chen continued to sob for a few seconds, her face buried in Xia's shirt, before she calmed down.

"You must think of me as an idiot right? Crying over such a stupid thing." Yu Chen mumbled, inhaling Si Xia's scent. It considerably calmed her down and she was in control of her emotions again.

"I'm sorry Chen. I'm the idiot. Please. Look at me Chen." Si Xia spoke, his face twisted with worry. He tried to lift Chen's head, but she shook her head and buried deeper in Xia's coat.

"No! Sorry. Wait. Just a second. I'll be fine in a bit." Chen's muffled voice came from Si Xia's chest. Si Xia did not reply as he wrapped his arms around Chen and stroked her head.

Yu Chen looked up after a minute, wiping her face.

Si Xia removed her hands and took her face in his hands. He gently wiped away Chen's tears and touched his forehead to her's. "I'm really sorry Chen. I shouldn't have ever asked you that. I hate myself for that." Si Xia spoke in a pained voice.

Yu Chen shook her head and closed her eyes, "No. Don't hate yourself. Don't ever do that. It's just that.... choosing between you or my parents is like choosing between two pieces of myself. I'll never be whole again."

Si Xia also closed his eyes and mumbled, "I'm sorry. I'll never make you choose ever again."

The two stood there for a while, both finding comfort in each other's presence and making a different promise to themselves.

Si Xia vowed to himself never to make Chen choose between anything ever again, and kicked himself for making her cry again.

Yu Chen, who had seen the pain in Xia's eyes when she cried, promised herself never to cry in front of him ever again.

She never wanted to see that kind of pain in his eyes again. And she hated the fact that she was the source of it.

"Chen? I get that you have a boyfriend now, but is it necessary to do this here?" a voice brought the two of them out of their thoughts.

Chen and Xia looked in the direction of the voice and immediately jumped apart.

Si Xia blushed red and bowed his face in embarrassment and Yu Chen scratched her head and stuck out her tongue before skipping over to the man wearing a khaki sweater and standing with his hands over his hips.

"Hii dad! I see I've been caught. So, how do you like him?" Yu Chen asked, hanging on the arm of her dad.

Mr. Yu eyed Si Xia up and down before he rolled his eyes at Chen, "He looks like a typical city boy. At least introduce us."
