What did you do?

"Xia, this is my dad. Dad, this is Si Xia. I hope you both get along." Yu Chen said, swinging around Mr. Yu's hand like a little girl.

Si Xia walked forward and held out his hand. He was still a bit red in the cheeks as he said, "Hello sir. It's nice to meet you."

Mr. Yu surveyed Si Xia up and down before shaking his hand and speaking without much emotion in his voice, "Likewise."

The three continued to walk towards Chen's house with Yu Chen rambling about random things and Mr. Yu and Si Xia adding in a word or two.

Si Xia was quite nervous and wanted to make a good first impression, so he wasn't talking much. He also got the feeling that Mr. Yu didn't like him.

On the other hand, Mr. Yu was clearly deep in thought as he seemed a little out of it and even gave half replies whenever Chen turned to him. Yu Chen might have protested against this behaviour, but she was just too happy to be back. And too excited to introduce Xia to everyone.

At the first sight of the gate of their home, Yu Chen skipped forward leaving the two men to follow.

Which was exactly what would have happened hadn't Mr. Yu stopped Si Xia in his tracks. Mr. Yu called. out to Xia when Chen skipped forward.

As Xia turned back, Mr. Yu looked him up and down once more before fixing him with a stare. "What did you do?" Mr. Yu asked, word for word.

Si Xia was immediately flustered and began rambling, "I....I didn't do anything. I love Chen with all my heart and wouldn't ever think of..."

Xia might have been the President of the top software company in the country, but right now he looked like a typical son-in-law afraid of his father-in-law.

"Stop your ranting. I'm asking what did you do to make Chen cry right now." Mr. Yu cut in irritably.

Si Xia: "....."

"You're wondering how I know about it?" Mr. Yu continued, "I'm sure Chen told you that she takes after me. And I love her just as much as she probably loves you. I'm sure you get that. So if you value your life, you better tell me what did you do to make my doll cry!!!"

Mr. Yu's temper was building up and Si Xia hung his head before replying, "I asked her to choose."

Mr. Yu frowned and Xia continued, "I asked her what she would do if you guys didn't like me?"

Mr. Yu's eyes widened in surprise. He composed himself after a minute and mumbled, "The way you're behaving, that's a very real possibility." before turning around to walk towards the house.

Si Xia caught upto Mr. Yu and said, "But I realise my mistake and I'm willing to spend my whole life trying to correct it. I've vowed never to make Chen cry again."

Mr. Yu spoke in an emotionless voice, "I don't believe words. And after what you did, I should kick you out. But I won't. Because I see how much Chen loves you. And I myself made a vow never to make her cry."
