You're turning into quite the devil

Yu Chen was silent for a minute before she replied with a small smile, "I don't think I will give in so easily. It'll be quite the turmoil between your morals and his love."

Mr. Yu shook his head and tapped Chen's head, "Could you at least pretend like you would not do that?"

Chen stuck out her tongue and asked, "So you do like him?"

Mr. Yu shrugged, "Maybe. But Chen, promise me something. . ."

"What?" Chen asked.

Mr. Yu held Chen's hands and looked in her eyes, "Before crossing any lines, either of you, think about all the people who love you."

Yu Chen kissed the top of Mr. Yu's head and spoke, "I'll try my best not to cross any lines in this lifetime."

"All I'm asking." Mr. Yu mumbled as Si Xia and Mrs. Yu came into view.

Mr. Yu lit the fireworks and the four of them quietly enjoyed the show, taking in the beauty of the fireworks.

Si Xia, who was standing beside Chen, slipped his hand into her's and whispered, "Thank you."

Chen leaned her head on his shoulder and muttered, "Does that mean you like my parents?"

Si Xia shook his head, "I don't like them." Chen looked in surprise at his face as he continued, "I love them. So much that I'm thinking of asking Mr. and Mrs. Yu to legally adopt me."

"Silly. Won't that mean that we'll be brother and sister then?" Chen chuckled.

"Nope. I'll ask them to disown you first of course." Si Xia spoke with a straight face.

Yu Chen: "....."

Chen pulled Xia's ear ans muttered, "You're turning into quite the devil yourself."

Si Xia chuckled, "The effect of staying in your company too long."

Chen tried to get angry at this but couldn't supress her chuckle and shook her head.

Once the fireworks finished, Yu Chen hugged her mother and father. "Okay mom, dad. We should get going now." Chen said as she kissed then both on the cheek.

Mr. Yu's face fell but he said nothing.

But Mrs. Yu instantly held Chen's hand, "Why? It's still not that late. You could stay for a couple of hours more."

Chen smiled and wrapped a hand around her mother's shoulder, saying, "I'm thinking of visiting auntie and uncle Mo. I want to meet them too."

Hearing this Mrs. Yu sighed and kissed Chen's forehead before saying, "Drive safely. And call me when you get there."

Yu Chen nodded as Mr. Yu spoke, "Do try to visit more often."

Chen laughed as she waved to her parents, "Seems like you're telling me this every time I visit."

"But you never seem to listen." Mr. Yu mumbled as he watched his daughter walk away.

In the car, Si Xia was silent as he listened to Chen chatting away with a hint of a smile on his face.

Yu Chen could see that Xia wasn't paying attention to what she was saying and finally stopped. She asked when he looked at her questioningly, "You seem happy today."

Si Xia nodded and added after a few seconds, "I found something today."
