Chapter 21 Ready To Go

Sister Amy stormed off down the hall.

"You know there will be a price to pay if I find out you set her up." Father Gregory said firmly.

"We understand Father." I said quickly before Sam or Josh could speak. "Everything that has been said can be proven when it comes to her. Now can I finally get that which I have dreamed about? Will you take my confession?"

"Of course I will. Please come to the chapel when you are ready and ring the bell. I will come back to the church and meet you there as soon as I can." Father Gregory replied to me.

"Thank you Father" I said with tears welling up in my eyes. "I have about 20 to 30 mins left and I don't want to rush this confession so can we meet up after I finish my current quest? I would recommend you get something to eat and drink beforehand as well as I have 16 years of life to confess."

Father Gregory just smiled a bit and nodded at me.I jumped off the bed and jumped for joy. I was finally going to get that which I desired so much.

"I have never before met a child that is so happy to confess her sins and wrong doings before today." Father Gregory muttered. "I now have work to do so good day men and miss."

After he left I started to wonder how long he has been standing there and was he listening in to what Sam and Josh were saying while I was in the VRMMORPG. I looked at them and then I made a decision with what I was going to do with my short remaining time. I would check my add and accept some of them for interviews. I would need to give them time to check the screens for my reply. Most will be waiting and checking at least daily to see if a job offer was accepted. I know I did last year but no one wanted a 15 year old to be a part of their staff. Now though I am the one picking people and I know I need a few as bodyguards now that the bad man found me again. I knew I would accept Josh's bodyguard application right now and maybe look for another that might be dual as a bodyguard and maid. I have no idea what my role in the game will be so i need to be careful with my money. Yes I know that the money I have back will last a while and the quest i am doing will cover another month for at least one staff member. I also knew if I slacked on Josh's money but made sure he had what he needed that he wouldn't hold it against me while I got things set in place for me.

"I am going to go answer my ad I placed now. Its clear I need to get official staff as soon as possible so I can help prevent this sort of thing from happening again. I will need to find some place to live as well." I spoke up to Josh and Sam.

"Well its not very big but for the moment I still have my home above the bakery until he asks me to moe out. If you offer him some money I am sure he will let you stay there for a month or two. It will give us a better place to look out for you." Replied Josh.

"I will think about that, thanks Josh. We do have a hotel though. I have no clue the going rate but it won't be hard to find out. I will need that information anyways for when the people I choose to interview come to stay for the chance to get a spot. I know it will be a financial hardship for them to come all the way here so I could at least put them up for the night and give them a meal even if I turn them down." I spoke up.

"You are much nicer then I would be Marie. I would tell them there is no promise of being hired and see who comes and who doesn't. Those that don't really want the job will not come that way. Wait a second... That would make the perfect first test to see if they are worthy or not." Sam said with a huge smile on his face.

"Good idea, I will do that as a good second test. The first test is how they reply to my questions I will be sending them. If they don't answer correctly then I will not waste my time with them." I said as I was getting ready to put my visor back on.

Checking my ad I saw that there were 14 people who applied. I was looking at each one, 2 were pretty old with a lot of experience behind them. I wondered how they would do for long shift being over the age of 50. I decided to give them a chance though, at the very least at least one of them could teach me and the other what the job of bodyguarding actually is and how to do it. I sent a message to them letting them know that I would be interested to hire them and would like an in face interview. I also made sure to say that no job is promised until after the initial interview but I have a temporary spot if they do not cut it in training the ones chosen and will pay better during the training then the standard pay of my body guards and maid.

Next I looked at the younger age group. 6 of them were under the age of 16, I did not like the thought of hiring kids for a position of body guarding though as a maid one of them might be acceptable. I sent them messages that for their age I would be looking for a maid/butler that could also be trained to be a bodyguard in the future. I did turn down 3 of them flat out though as they were not even 10 yet. Making sure to let them know that no job is promised I sent out the message and asked them my questions as well. I knew their parents would be traveling with them until they got the job. Some of the parents might even stay to keep an eye on their underaged child. I realized that I would have to take that into consideration as well and make sure the parents had a trade that would be useful to the village or they couldn't stay here on their kids dime. I would not allow deadbeats to roam our fair village.

Finally the 18 to 40 group, 6 people applied but only 2 had any experience at all in bodyguarding though 2 others had skills as being a maid/butler. I noticed the name of one of them was the same as one of the underaged kids that applied as well. I thought about that and decided that if they both looked good I could hire them both as having family members together would allow more trust and security as the one bodyguarding would want to make sure I am safe because their sibling would be in the home as well. I sent out my questions to them all and made sure to let them know that no job was promised. The sibling pair I added that I would provide a meal and lodging to them during the interview process as well as an enticement to the offer.

My questions were simple. Why would you like this job? What is your prefered position? Are you able to work alone as well as in a team if needed? How do you feel about same sex love? Will you put your life on the line for my safety and could you prove it? Are long hours ok with you?

Having taken 40 mins to reply to them I took off the visor and said, "Josh I sent out a reply to you. Please answer the question while I am in the game. You can use my screen right here to answer them so you don't have to leave me alone. I am going to treat you the same as everyone else so no one will say that I am playing favorites."

I laid down fully and got comfortable. Looking at the time I was shocked at the time and quickly put back on my visor.

"Heading back into the game, I am late getting back" I said before logging back in.

*** Meanwhile in the game.***

"Where the hell are they? Shi isn't yet and neither is Bolggor. I hope nothing happened to Shi while she was outside of the game. Bolggor I wonder if her is coming back or not. Figures I get forgotten and forced to sit around waiting for them both to come back. I mgiht as well take a nap while I wait." Said Kuro.

"Actually Kuro, I am back. Sorry I am late I ended up replying to my ad and it too longer then I expected it too. I am excited for a few of the ones who applied. 2 were two young, though and I had to turn them down right away. BUT there was these two that I liked and they were siblings, one I would offer the cleaning spot to and the other a bodyguard spot. The under 16 year old would be the maid/butler while the older one who has some bodyguard experience. It thought it would allow them to be together while also adding extra safety as the older one will want both me and thier younger sibling to be safe." I spoke up.

Kuro jumped and replied, "Very true that it would add a layer of safety, but that safety might not be for you. Would they put you or their sibling first when it came to protection. Make sure you think about that before you just hire them."

I nodded, "You have a point Kuro."

"He indeed does have a point. I think they might be worth checking out at least though as you both might be correct or they might be completely wrong for either jobs or even both jobs. So treat them each like another standard applicant and forget their family relations." Chimed in Bolggor from behidn me. "Also sorry I am late. I needed to eat with the meds and had to go out to get some food. Someone ate all my food I had in the place. I really need to move out of this area."

"So now can we get going?" Asked Kuro. "Are we all set up and ready to go?"

Bolggor nodded and picked up his stuff and put it back on. I nodded and shifted my hand to relight our last torch. I handed it to Kuro.

"Don't lose the last torch or the only light we will have is my weapons. I am not a magician who can create a ball of light and have that hover with us. Creating a fireball and keeping it in my hand to light the way will be too taxing as well." I said with feeling.

We opened the door on the other side of the rest area and a warning popped up. Beware that once you leave this room you can not return to it until the boss is dead. I looked at the others and we shrugged and headed out with me leading the way. There were no spider webs of any sort present that I could see. It was just a long and wide tunnel. No side tunnels or anything other then a slant that seemed to be a slope heading further down.

"Down the slope we go it seems. I wonder how far down we will go." I spoke up to the party.

After what took almost an hour of walking down the slope we finally arrived at a door that said above it, 'Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.' I could help but start laughing at that. That was my fathers favorite anime movie when I was a kid. It was a line straight out of the anime movie, Lady Death. It was also what my name meant in game. I was a noble because of the armor so Lady and my name Shi means Death. I was literally Lady Death who was about to walking into this room. In the movie the main characters name was Hope but she was the daughter of Lucifer and was considered the Lady of Death because of it.

"Why are you laughing?" Asked Kuro.

"I was just about to ask the same thing." Said Bolggor.

"The door inscription if funny thats all. It says Abandon hope, all ye who enter here. Its a line for an anime that my dad used too love and my name literaly means Death. I am a noble so Lady Death." I replied trying not to laugh. "This part is so Japanese in the fact that it is anime and that was famous for Japan when I was younger."

"Did you know my name means black in Japanese?" Kuro asked.

"Then you spelled your name wrong its Kuroh. You forgot the h in your name." I replied back.

"Can we go through the door now? I want to get this quest over with so I can get paid and fully relax I am still in pain as the meds are not that strong as I didn't want to knock myself out and not be here for you both. Time is running out and I have been in places where the boss took over 5 hours to kill." Bolggor spoke up ending our conversation.

I had Bolggor open up the door. I put Kuro on my left with me standing in the middle of the door. The door swung inwards this time so we didn't have to move out of the doors way. My weapons were raised and I was ready for anything. Looking in the door I saw...
