chapter 7

After Brandon and detective Cole left for the night, my mom and dad just sat on the tanned cow hide couch with me, holding me it was one of the best feelings in the world. the love the reassuring feeling of my two biggest supporters.

But as my luck would have it this feeling was not to last long as a knock on the door had my father up holding his 12 gauge shotgun. He headed to the door aiming the gun for a gutshot.

Opening the door slowly it he looked out turned ashen than green. He slammed the door with force and locked it.

I started for the window. Wanting look out and see but my father gave a look as though it was unwise. I figured it was for the best that I didn't. I reached for my cell phone instead and pressed 6 for Brandon's cell that's when I Hurd it the renagades ringtone outside the door. The knock came again it sounded wet This time. I got a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. My mind was shutting down I knew what was on the other side was going to be worse than bad or horrendous.

My mom took my phone out of my hand and ended the call. She than called the police and told them what was happening after giving them our address she placed the phone still on, on the coffee able. At this point I felt like a living doll because than my mother came to me by the window walked me over to the couch and sat me down.

My teeth where chattering as if I was cold and my heart was beating double time. I couldn't tell if I was breathing. Mayne this is what it felt like to be scared to death. Because I couldn't feel anything not even my teeth chattering or my heart beating I could only hear them.

My father decided it was time to take action. He said to my mother, " now honey I need you to let the girl go and come here. I need you to open the door and then shut it behind me lock it and call the police and make sure to tell them their is at least one officer down."

My mothers face went pale and her eyes went as wide as saucers. She than nodded and asked,

"you want us to go into the safe room?"

My father just nodded his lips in a grim line, his eyes with a fearless gleam in them, His high cheek bones making his creek features all the more relevant, He held himself as a Creek warrior no a menewa a war chief.

Looking at my father gave me the confidence I much needed.

I kept chanting in my head "I am the daughter of a great worrior, the decendant of chief Bushy head a great leader and and worrior. My blood is the blood of many and few."

I gave my father a nod indicating I was going to be ok. I then walked out of the living room my head held high with pride and dignity holding my mothers slender dark hand in mine.

I never really looked at my mother's hand before it was soft with veins popping up her and there, they are strong working hands always busy. but, right now they where my anchor to reality a horrible one at the moment, but reality none the less.

Only after we left the room did my mother start preying,

" Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil o..."

She was cut off by a loud cracking of a gun from some where oustside, hopefully my father is okay.

We made our way to down the hallway lights blaring, to my parents commoditized room, wanting a stick or crowbar incase he got inside already.

The room was a spacious one with teal walls, and lavender curtains with a California king bed in the middle made up with the matching lavender sheets and blankets it smelled of bleach and cinnamon candles.

Being gently pulled to My mother's side of the walk in closet sporting some cloths and shoes I was defiantly going to beg for. I watched as she moved

The picture of my parents holding each other and laughing at something out of the view of the camera at their twenth . She than silently placed her hand on the reading plate that was hidden behind the picture.

The device read her hand with a flash of azure light.

A panel of wall slid to the side inside my mother's closet. She stepped in bringing me along with her.

Inside was stairs leading down in to a dark black hole.

My mother seeing my aperhension told me in a choked up voice,

"your father installed a bunker under the house just incase anything happend or if a zombie apocalypse ever happend."

A tear slipped when she continued " I always thought I would have your father and brother with us when we needed to use it. For now we can use the bunker as a panic room it has monitors set up I have cameras all over the house and property. Now young lady let's go."

Still still leery of the bath cavern that I was about to this engine I took a hesitant step my mother grab my hand yet again and pulled me down further and further. Entered the bunker the lights turned on automatically blinding us for a few seconds then to the right of us there was the monitors I hurried to find which one my father was in a after I switched them on.

In my panic I almost missed his form out on the front porch. He was raising his gun Aming into the void beyond the cameras view.

Speaking frantically in to the land line phone while keeping her eyes on the screen my mom was giving the police dispatch a play by play of what was happening.

My dad was Now bending to check the pulse of the form by his feet. I than remembered the cellur phone I had taken back before I descended the stairs.

Hitting redial I called Brandon's phone again that's when my father bent down and picked up the shining square his voice came on the other end.

"Hey honey you get to the safe place?"

"D-daddy y'all ok? Yes daddy mom and I are fine."

He mumbled quietly, " I am but the boy is hurt something aweful. He has a weak palse I don't know if he will make it. I want to search for that female he was with."

Searching my pant pockets

I came up with the small white business card Rachel gave me incase of emergencies. Puttingy father on hold I punched in the number and it started to ring. On the second ring Rachel anwsered with the gravelly voice of sleep.

" who ever this is you better be dyeing slowly or about to."

I let out the air I was holding and with a shaky voice proceded with, " T-thank God, your ok. He got Brandon I think he is dying please help. Help us I don't know what to do my daddy is outside with the gun watching over him he says his pulse is weak."

" I will be there in 5 minutes you tell your dad to take Brandon Inside and lock all doors. You here me?"

"Yes maim I do."

I hung up the call with her and switched over to dad's call and with determination in my voice I told him what needed to be done.

Taking it upon myself and bolting up the stairs before my mother could stop me, bound and determined to help my daddy with Brandon.

Taking the steps two at a time and emerging from the closet I ran down the hallway and came to a halt when got to the door unlocking the brass top lock and bottom knob lock I flung the door open and whispered yelled "Daddy I am here to help you."

I than proceeded to grab Brandon under the arm pits and help Dad drag him to the couch.

Dadheld his feet with one hand and We laid him as gently as possibly, but with his six foot three inch, and two hundred and forty four pounds of straight muscle, was not going to let us put him down too nicely.

His skin hot to the touch and slick from the blood all over, the hair was crusted on his head turning his straight Dark Brown hair in to a tangled mess.

We heard the tiers on the gravel road before we saw the truck, they came to a halt right before the front door. Blake jumped out and ran up the stairs of the front porch yelling, "Babe, Babe where are you? If that son of a bitch has touched a hair on your head, I am going to make his death slow!" after I ran and opened the door, Blake was standing there in the doorway holding two big guns, heaving loudly from running full out.

The next thing I know i was in his arms him holding me burying his face in my big fluffy wild hair. Clinging to him I layed my head on his chest and inhaled his his Old Spice Cologne and a hint of mint and oil.

I didn't hear detective Cole drive up or the rest of Wilburtons police force behind her. I was in my happy place.

It wasn't until my Dad put his big calloused hands on my shoulders, that I registered everyone. Blake and I came threw The door and stood off to the side so the paramedics and police officers could get threw. They checked on Brandon. The paramedics helped each other put to put Brandon on the gurney, then they carted him away he didn't look very good.

His skin pale and pasty as though all life was draining out of him. His blood was everywhere on him the grass all over my dad and I.

Thinking I was going to be sick I left the comfort of Blake and ran to the rest room and proceeded to vomit everything I my stomach out.

When I stood up the room became fuzzy around the edges and I fell hitting my head on the toilet seat with a sickening thud. The last thing I saw before blackening out was Shawn's face in the window he has a eerie smile.

Waking up to the dripping sounds echoing all around me sent chills down my spine, and goose bumps arose all over my already dampened skin.

I knew that I was in trouble the instant I opened my eyes.

There was blood everywhere it the dimly lit room.

Than I saw it the in the corner the shrine dedicated to me but my eyes and lips where cut out of each and every picture. The words mine where written in what i assumed was blood was all over the wall near it.

My heart went nuts as a I started to hyperventilate. The feeling of death was surrounding me closing in on me, suffocating me, to the point where I stopped fighting and embraced the on coming torture that would soon be my destiny when he returned.
