Moved

It's been two weeks since I moved here, and I still haven't found any clue as to why he didn't want to give it up before. Maybe just maybe the reason isn't something, but someone. I hope I will be able to figure it out. It drives me nuts. Oh maybe I'm just kidding myself. He probably didn't want to give it up because someone else was going to take it. My nephew takes such good care of me now, he pays my rent in addition to his own.

"Harry did you fix my teapot yet?" I asked. He poked his head in the parlor and told me it was fixed, that he was just fixing me a cup of tea. It's been nice having someone take care of me and I get to spoil him in return.

"Here you go Aunt Maybelle your cup of English Breakfast with three cubes of sugar." He set the cup down and I thanked him.

"Aunt Maybelle?" He asked. I looked up at him and asked him what it was he wanted.

"I'm curious have you figured out why the clerk was so hesitant to let you have the room at first?" Now I was very surprised that he asked me that but I could see a spark in his eyes. So I told him the truth,

"No Harry, I have not found any clues as of yet but I'm trying to find one. Maybe you can help me look since you're so curious" He looked excited. As it so happened right after I said that a knock came at the door. We both looked at each other and laughed. We both thought Aha this might be our clue. I sent Harry to answer it because my arthritis was acting up.

"Oh Mr. Bernie what brings you here today, our rent isn't due till next week?" Harry asked panically.

" Calm down Harry, your aunt promised me she'd repair my pants for tonight's banquet."

" Aunt Maybelle?" Harry asked. I nodded and motioned for him to come in. Mr. Bernie handed me his pants, and I could have sworn I felt something odd in them. As I was hemming the ends, I casually took out an unusual ring. At least I thought it was an object as it turned out it was no more than an odd looking ring. It looked like it didn't belong to him or where it was hidden. So I kept it hoping he wouldn't notice it went missing.

"There you go Mr. Bernie it's all taken in by three inches it should fit much better now"

" Thank you Mrs. Maybelle, and please call me Dan" he said politely.

" It was no trouble Dan, do you have time to have a cup of tea?" I asked, he shook his head no and told me he had to be on his way. I waited a few minutes after he left to make sure he was really gone before I showed Harry what I had found.

"Aunt Maybelle, what did you find?" Harry asked. He looked so fascinated it made me so happy.

" It's just a ring but it looks odd and it looked like it didn't belong" Harry looked at it so intensely I handed it to him and said he could be the one to see why it was so odd. We looked at so much and so hard we didn't hear the knock at the door followed by the mail being shoved through the slot. I told Harry to continue looking at the ring and to see if it had a hidden mechanism while I got up to get the mail. That's when I noticed someone was catching on to us already and we've barely just started.

"Harry, someone is already on to us. We better solve this mystery soon"

" What do you mean Aunt Maybelle?" He asked.

" Nobody here but you and me and the clerk, Mr. Bernie knew my that my last name was Rose."

" That's right you never go by Rose, not since Uncle Richard died but I highly doubt Mr. Bernie would notice we are onto him within fifteen minutes of him leaving, how strange" Click. The ring popped open just as he finished talking. But what we found was unordinary and so misplaced. It was a message and crumpled up £100. The message was written on a piece of printing paper. The note said, ' My love I'm so sorry my father found out about us and is forcing me to move. He won't tell me where and forbade me to ever see you or tell you where we moved. I'm writing this to you as my last testament, if I can't have you then I can never move on. My love this is forever goodbye. -Victoria Johnson.

It was very sad to read a suicide note but now I know why it was so odd of him to keep a ring that didn't belong. A lost love, maybe this used to be her room and that was why he was so hesitant but that doesn't explain the note that I just gotten. That just get's me thinking there might be another mystery about this room that we just haven't figured out yet.

"Aunt Maybelle you better come here and read this note the mysterious person sent you. I don't think you're going to like it very much" Harry stated in a very concerned tone.
