Change of Plans

I didn't know how much time had gone. I still sat on the couch opposite the TV, wondering what I was gonna do next. Of course it wasn't going to be easy if I decided to leave the house. The only money I have is the assurance money from my dad. Of course it won't be valid till I've turned 18.

Ugh! That's not even an option.

The house was slowly suffocating me. I was really starting to feel claustrophobic, as big as the building was.

I sighed as I put a hand over my mouth, pondering over what to do to get my mind off those negative thoughts.

I immediately pulled myself off the couch and stood on my feet. I stood for a while in order to regain my stance. Just before walking off, I took a while to look at the shattered phone on the floor.

I shrugged. "eh I'll clean it later", I muttered to myself as I turned to my left and trotted towards the base of the stairs.

I rushed upstairs and took the door on the right into my room. But not before imagining the cold and quiet hallway to be a death arena for ghosts.

I shut the door behind me and scurried around searching for my bag.

I stopped for a while, before spotting it beside my bed, just slightly under the bed sheets.

Guess I didn't arrange the bed well enough.

I walked over to it and picked it up, putting the bed sheet in order as I removed it.

I then stood and unzipped the bag, rampaging it for the second thing after myself that keeps me sane.

My phone.

I took out some books and laid them on the bed. I then saw the rose given to me by James.

I smile a bit as I held it in my hand. I had actually forgotten about it.

I snapped out of my trance quickly. I was in no mood for any romance in my life. I had bigger issues to blot out.

I kept the rose on top the books and kept searching.

Finally, I found my phone.

I quickly kept it on the bed, took the books alongside the rose and shoved all of them into my bag.

I threw the bag on the bed carelessly. I know, I can't ever be meticulous, though I try. I really do.

I walked out of my room, shut the door behind me and walked down the stairs as I switched on my phone and waited for it to boot.

I reached the bottom of the stairs and almost tripped cause I didn't know it was finished.

I chuckled at my ignorance and walked over to the couch to sit.

Once I reached the couch, the phone had booted completely.

"56%...hm, workable." I said lightly to myself as I opened my phone.

I turned on my WiFi and immediately started hearing beeps. Messages began raining in.

Some from my study group chat, and others from Bethany.

I knew she'd flood my phone with texts.

I immediately opened her message and began going through her 27 texts.

-It's raining here.

-Like heavily

-what are you doing? why u not online?

-m so freaking bored G

-Where are you??

-I'm a little teacup...

-Come on

-I'm broke...

And so on and so forth. She was just texting me to keep herself busy. As usual.

I smiled to myself as I replied to her.

"Hi Beth. Home alone. Wanna come?" I muttered as I typed.

I left our chat page almost immediately.

Just then, I got a reply.

"I'm at your doorstep."

My heart skipped a beat as I thought of the possibilities. Well, if it was Bethany, ANYTHING was possible.

I got up hastily and rushed to the front door.

I turned the knob and drew the door open.

I was greeted by a small wave of cold air and my best friend standing before me, books in hand.

Bethany was a huge nerd, but didn't look like it. It was really confusing that she was like the richest girl in school, and probably the prettiest, and also the smartest. There was a lot of stuffs in one package.

Bethany had pretty short red hair, little freckles, small lips and small brown eyes. She did not have a very petite stature, she was in fact sightly taller than I was. This though, did not affect her feminine features. She was well endowed.

She looked lightly Asian if you ask me, though she originates from England.

Her small yellow flay gown complimented her light skin and red handbag.

"Hi G!" She said as she shoved past me and barged into my house.

"You can't just-" I started before she cut me short.

"Uh uh...you invited me sweetie. I'm hungry by the way." She said as she threw her hand bag on the floor and kept the books on the center table before walking off into the kitchen.

I smiled to myself as I shut the door and walked into the living room fully, bending forward to pick up her bag.

"Don't tell me there's no food here." She screamed front he kitchen.

"Okay, I won't tell you that then." I screamed back as I kept the bag on top her books.

"We have to go out for lunch G." She said emerging from the kitchen.

"What? It's only..." I paused as I turned on my phone to check the time.

It was 1:26pm.

Wait, when did time fly by so fast?

Wasn't it like, an hour ago that I finished eating?

Just then, my stomach growled loudly.

"Well then that settles it. Go get dressed. You're not gonna wear that out are you?" She said quickly as she walked towards me, gesticulating that my dress wasn't suitable.

When she said that, I knew we weren't only going out for lunch. She definitely had other plans. Bethany only ever noticed my outfit when she had important places to go with me.

"Why do I feel like you control my life more than I do?" I said helplessly as I looked at my friend.

" That's because I do, my dear. Now chop chop! We don't wanna be late for lunch." She said as she took my hand and pulled me toward the stairs with her.

"It's past my lunch time you know!" I said to her jokingly.

"Baby, we're badass, the rules don't apply to us. Now come dress up!" She puffed as she pulled me through the door of my room, right after fumbling with the knob for a period of 10 to 15 seconds.

"I don't know what to wear. I'm really just too lazy to move right now." I said wearily as I fell backwards on my bed.

Bethany didn't speak as she rampaged my wardrobe for a suitable outfit for our outing.
