Chapter 3 Flight... Kinda

'Crunch crunch'

At least this fish tastes good. I'm not in a coma. I discovered that after I nearly starved to death after not moving for three days. If I was in coma the hunger would not feel this real, or at least I don't think it would.

I don't know how I caught this fish and I don't really care, I was starving, then I had the idea to jump in the river. I should have drowned, my wings were fucking heavy and I still couldn't figure out how to use them. But I managed to swim back to the shore with some fish in my mouth.

"Okay, now to find civilization." I walk alongside the river margin, on all fours because somehow I can fucking swim but can't walk on two legs. If I keep following the river I will find someone eventually…I hope.

'Sigh'

My voice is the same as when I was human but the rest…My eyes are light gold with specks of silver floating in them, but they are still cat eyes, I dunno all the difference between them now and before but I know two things, I can see well at night, and days are so bright that sometimes hurts. I made the mistake of looking at the sun…it fucking hurts. I can hear pretty well but there's nothing to hear here, only the river and some insects…sometimes birds.

On all fours, I think I'm about 10ft tall wingspan is around 15ft, my fur is all black but I swear when I'm in the shadows or its night time I glow a dark violet. I still can't believe I have wings, the first time I tried using them was embarrassing as hell I jumped flapped and fell on my face; I'm glad nobody was around to see it.

"Ok I can do this it's only a 500ft fall that might kill me...It's just like learning to fly my Thunderbird there will be bumps and hopefully, I won't crash..... except this time I can't eject." I thought dejectedly.

I woke up three weeks ago in a panthers body and had been able to learn how to walk, run, hell I can even climb trees and surprisingly cliff faces but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fly which brings me back to pacing at the top of a cliff.

"Fuck it"

I ran off the cliff and spread my wings.

I'll admit not my best idea but it worked I was souring through the clouds. It was amazing I could feel the wind on my face and see for miles.

"Now how do I land?"

Not gracefully it would seem, as I pulled myself from the 3-meter trench I had just made, but it was progress.
