Chapter 41: Sphere Conductor

We were told everything by George, as I didn't like the fact that Johnny wasn't really after Pandora's box, but apparently something inside of the box instead which didn't really sit right with my gut when I found out. There was another mission that we took since we heard of some sighting of Johnny in a research lab, well stalking outside a research lab for whatever reason. I needed to find out more about this stupid cult he joined to survive when that man burned and killed everyone in the house when I was younger. A thought crossed my mind, what if Miguel also joined this cult, or some other cult…he could be stronger than Johnny and possibly on the higher end of their cult hierarchy or something. How many of them actually did die? Did my mother die? Did father die, or did they all decide to leave me behind, but wait mother lost her Weapon Eyes since the man had them...right? I don't know what was real about that whole altercation all those years ago, maybe just maybe they all betrayed me and left me without a second thought. I have to stop thinking about this and focus on the mission, we have to find out why Johnny was stalking outside a research lab, so we could stop his plan before he could do anything to continue his dumbass cult's plan. The thing was the place this research lab was in, is in a city made of gold called El Dorado, so the place was pretty secluded from everyone else and wasn't very good to visitors.

"I managed to pull some strings to allow you to enter El Dorado, but only George, Chloe, Shiro, and Vicente." The Guild Master told us to try not to stand out during our stay. We could still be kicked out of El Dorado, no matter what we were going to do since apparently they were the largest supply chain of coins to pretty much everyone. Well I guess I can understand their reasoning for being secluded and not wanting to have things stolen from you, my time was stolen by my relative. The pass that we received was given to us, as El Dorado was protected by a magical barrier which only allowed people that either lived there or had a pass. Not even a teleport gate could bypass this, the pass was thrown into the teleport gate which changed the color of the gate to yellow or gold color, I was actually pretty impressed even though it might not have been all that impressive.

"Hey stop staring at the portal like an idiot and jump in, or we'll leave you behind." Shiro smirked, before jumping into the portal. He always knew how to piss me off the most, you would think that he had a skill to make someone as pissed off as can be, but nevertheless I jumped into the portal to find a tan man wearing gold armor that sparkled quite a bit.

"Why hello there! I am your escort of El Dorado, I'll bring you to the research lab that the assailant from your land has been apparently stalking." He didn't tell us his name, but I guess he didn't trust us enough, or something like that. Like the books and legends say, the whole city was made up of gold and it felt a bit like a waste to make a litterbox for a cat out of gold. There were even dogs and pots made out of gold, which I thought would be pretty heavy, or maybe they were made with some other material and just had some layers of thin gold coating. The research lab was also made of gold, but it did have some marble so it wasn't all bad for a building. We entered as a man was sleeping over some blueprints to his inventions, well at least I think they were his blueprints. This thought was crushed when a woman in a yellow lab coat came from a room in the back.

"Pablo! I told you that you shouldn't spend all night trying to help rework failed inventions!" She shook him, not even realizing that we were here. Pablo woke up with a pencil on his face until it eventually fell off, both Chloe and I tried our best to hold in a laugh since she finally noticed that we were here when she apologized for the informal acting.

"Sorry about that, I am Paula. Nice to meet you!" She seemed like a pretty cheerful person now, instead of a scolding parent or wife. We all introduced ourselves while she took us to a room using an elevator. Once we arrived at a hallway on the 5th basement level, we were met with a sphere that kept spinning even though there was nothing under it.

"This is the Sphere Conductor, it collects mana indefinitely and can be used to power an entire city. Pablo and I created it to be used as an energy, but I think that the stalker that you've been tracking is here for this. This Sphere Conductor doesn't take anymore than it needs to sustain itself, and it even powers this laboratory." Paula seemed extremely excited to show us this invention. I guess this must be the proudest invention she had, but this might be connected to what was inside of Pandora's box. Was there something that could actually bring an end to this world by collecting some things? I don't know, I'm not as knowledgeable as Chloe, or Shiro, as much as I hate to say it. I looked at the Sphere Conductor thinking about what this invention could be used for to cause the end of the world, as we know it.

"Yeah we spent two years working on the blueprint alone, and one year in the construction of the Sphere Conductor." Pablo seemed really smug about this. There was something I saw in the corner that seemed to be a orb of nothingne-

"Everyone get down! Now!" I yelled, as we got under some cover to protect us from the explosion.

[A/N: Hello author here :) I'm here to inform you of a new story I've made with one possibly two of my buddies. It's called, "Guess We're a Party." I'd like for you to check it out well if you want, but I understand if you don't like it. I would also like it if you reviewed the story and gave me constructive criticism. I would like to know how to improve my writing since I'm far from being the best writer out there. Man 20k can you believe that? Anyways that'll be all, thanks for reading :)]
