Chapter 48: Unexpected Visits

I was having a strange feeling like something bad was going to happen, but I didn't know what exactly. My new sword was really cool and the Dragon of Chaos changed into the Dragon of True Balance which I think is pretty cool. Chloe and I still had to plan a lot for our wedding and I still needed to think about how to continue on with the recent failures. It wasn't completely my fault, sure, but I can't help thinking that I could have done something better or focused on Mordred more. I've run so many possibilities in my head about what happened, but I'm not the best strategist and leave a lot up to luck. I'm not satisfied yet, I'm not the strongest or the smartest and I'm not sure if I will ever be one of those, but to hell with that kind of thinking! I'm gonna keep trying even if it seems impossible or if I stumble, then I'll get right back up on my damn feet. That's what I would love to say right now if I weren't currently being crushed by Sun.

"Congrat on the marriage, but I won't give up." I could definitely feel the room get colder when she whispered the last part in my ear. The crushing hug was cut short by a brilliant light that just radiated a warm feeling.

"You are all now in one place and at the most dire moment. Valhalla, needs you! Before we go, please prepare and come back here." She was wearing armor and had wings that were pretty cool looking. It fit her warrior look and made her seem even more intimidating, for me at least. She kept giving me a look like she was irritated and disgusted by just looking at me. I decided to leave before she could stab me with her spear or sword. I guessed that every single one of the ten will be going on this mission, which will be a nice change, but what kind of idiots would attack the Norse Gods? I was about to head over to my place when the lady that came with the light stood before me with this look that could pierce any armor.

"You dare continue on like you haven't done anything?! Like you're innocent?" I had no idea what she meant, but was this about my past?

"I-" I couldn't even finish as my instincts caused me to block her attack, but I wasn't the one who blocked it despite how fast I reacted. Some man that looked around my eye and had black hair and clothing that reminded me of Dante. He turned around and I saw his face that only made this nostalgic feeling increase, since he looked like my dad. The red eyes and the hair, people said I was like a copy of my dad.

"Rey, the person you're looking for is me! The God of Conquest and Primal Power: Dante Cortez." Cortez?

"So this one is your descendant? I can feel the power from you in him, two for one! I will end you and your family line!" I could feel that my eyes suddenly activated and that no mana was consumed which meant that I had finally mastered the eyes to the point that I no longer lost mana when they were activated. It's possible that it became similar to a passive and a silent activation skill.

"Your spawn has the eyes that could end the world. This has been your plan this whole time!" Her holy aura (not Aura) increased and stopped giving the warm feeling, but instead a burning sensation on my skin.

"Vicente, I'll explain everything later-" I don't know how, but I was already subduing her before I could even process. Dante looked surprised and a lot younger than before, but he said he would explain later so I won't bombard him with questions later.

"That trip to Camelot really helped you out. You're finally ready for this sword. It's the Vorpal Sword. It's a powerful sword that can cut even magic and high-level enchantments. It ignores things like resistance to slashing attacks and has a lot of power behind it." The hilt was black and went the same way as the blade which was red and grey. It was incredibly sharp and I could feel the power and experience this sword had, as he passed over the scabbard. I put my new sword and old one on my back while remembering that I was still subduing Rey.

"You got some explaining to do, but I have to help Valhalla with their invader problem."

"Oh yeah, I'm coming with you on that. We'll have a lot of time to talk." I got off of Rey, as she started to glare at us, but we just smirked at each other before going to prepare. Rey followed us to our home and tried to burn it to the ground before I put it out. Whatever happened to them must have been rough, she really seems like she hates him. We looked too similar not to be family and he was younger which was a bit freaky. It was pretty cool though, but Rey didn't seem to enjoy having basically one carbon copy of someone she hates, that's right next to me.

"Follow along," Dante whispered to me, "So Vicente, how about we finally finish what I started? They couldn't handle me, and you're already strong enough to rival me. Well with some more training and the transfer of some of my strength to you will make you my equal." Rey looked terrified and pissed off. I thought it was funny so I played along.

"Sure why not? That's probably why they want to recruit us to help them out."

"Oh wait one damn second!" She pulled out her weapons and charged, but the outcome was the same as before.

"We were kidding." We each whispered in her ear. She still seemed suspicious, but we just laughed about it while making fun of her a bit. Dante and I returned which led to questions from them.

[A/N: I got a trip planned and since the holidays are coming up, I decided to write and release this chapter early. Think of it as a sort of....early gift even though it probably would have been better on Christmas or something...well anyways happy holidays and I wish you all well in the coming year.]
