"How could you do this to your own father? I gave birth to you! I raised you and gave you every damn thing you have right now. How could you do this to me!?" Hwang Zhendan asked, enraged when Tom was about to walk away from him.

He still couldn't believe it had all been his own son, Tom who was behind everything.

Maybe he suspected at one point that Tom was only pretending to support him and wasn't excited about him running for governorship, but he didn't think Tom's hatred for him would be this deep.

He had mistreated his wife, yes. He had neglected them, yes. He had married her for her family's fortune and married her cousin, yes.

But did he really deserve this? To be treated this way by his own son? 

Tom suddenly felt pity for him when he saw his father break down in tears. He had never seen his father cry before. But then, he had seen his mother cry a lot because of him.
