"Isn't He Cute?"

Nana sat across from Mi Cha in the small restaurant she had chosen they go to. Mi Cha watched her, wondering where to start from.

Nana's phone rang, and a look of relief swept across her face when she realized it was Min-Jung. "I have to take this call. It's Min-Jung. Hope you don't mind?" She said to Mi Cha, who shrugged indifferently as she ate from her bowl of steamed noodles with beef and vegetables.

"Where have you been? Why weren't you taking your calls?" Nana asked in a concerned voice. She felt like it had been forever since she heard from her Best friend.

"You know how work can be sometimes. I was really busy. I just got home," Min-jung said as she took off the heels she had been wearing. She had just gotten home and was exhausted, but she needed to talk to Nana.

"Yea, I can relate. Hope you're fine, though?" Nana asked in a low voice.

"Yes, where are you? I can hear sounds in the background. I want to come over. We need to talk," Min-Jung said as she changed her outfit into something ordinary.

"I'm hanging out with a friend. You should meet her."

She placed a hand over her phone and whispered to Mi Cha, "Do you mind? Min-Jung is coming over."

"That's ok with me," Mi Cha said with a smile. This was going better than she had imagined. At least now she could finally get to see the scheming bitch.

"You can come over. I'll text you the location," Nana said, wanting to drop the call immediately.

"Hold on, Nana, I have to discuss important issues with you; I'm not sure that should be done in the presence of a stranger," Min-Jung said, sounding nervous.

"You have nothing to worry about, just come over and get to know her first. We can talk about whatever else it is after we leave here," Nana said, trying to convince Min-Jung as she ended the call.

She had missed Min-jung's company so much, and she knew Min-Jung could make things lively. She wanted Min-Jung to get along well with Mi Cha.

Mi Cha pretended she wasn't listening to the conversation and wondered what was so important they wanted to discuss when she left. She needed to hear whatever they planned on discussing as she was sure it involved Tan and Ji-Tae.

She decided it was time to do what Tan had asked her to do. She needed to start building confidence with Nana.

"Have you ever been to California?" She asked randomly, wanting to initiate the conversation.

"Nope. But I heard and read a lot about it. Was that where you moved from?" Nana asked curiously.

"Yea, I had this charming penthouse in California, I kinda miss it and my friends there," She said with a gloomy expression.

"What about your boyfriend? You don't miss him, or you didn't have one there? If you don't mind me asking," Nana asked, allowing her curiosity to get the best of her.

Mi Cha smiled, she had wanted Nana to fall into her trap, and it had worked perfectly. "I don't mind at all. you're my friend, and I should be able to confide in you, right?" Mi Cha asked with a smile.

"I was too focused on my work to get involved with any. But there's this Korean guy I kinda fancy though. He's so hot," Mi Cha said with glittering eyes as she thought of Min-Jun, even though she intended to mention Tan's name.

"Really? He must be a celebrity or something, I guess," Nana asked excitedly.

"Not exactly, but he's rich though. Want to see his picture?" Mi Cha asked as she scrolled through her phone for Tan's picture.

"Here it is," She said, handing the phone to Nana as her eyes glittered.

Nana looked at the screen as her heartbeat quickened... She swallowed the thick lump of jealousy stuck in her throat, making her choke and her eyes water.

"Sorry, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" Mi Cha asked as she stood up and patted Nana's back. "I guess he's so cute you had to choke; he had that effect on me too," She said, trying hard not to giggle.

Nana didn't know what to say. Of all people for Mi Cha to have a crush on in this planet, why did it have to be Tan? Here she was, trying to get over him, and his picture was in her face.

Mi Cha smiled at Nana's speechlessness; she could tell Nana liked Tan.

"Isn't he cute? And trust me, I heard he's got a great personality too," Mi Cha cooed lovingly, making Nana snort. Great personality, my foot. Was it the same Tan she had spent a week with and almost wanted to strangle or another Tan?

"Don't be too quick to believe everything you hear about people though, or else you may be disappointed," Nana said, trying hard to push off the jealousy that enveloped her.

This was enough for today; Tan would be over the moon when he heard of Nana's jealous reaction.

"Who is going to be disappointed?" Min-jung asked as she joined them. Guilt made her feel like she was the one they were discussing.

"It's nothing. Hello, I'm Mi Cha. I guess you're Min-jung, Nana's best friend," She said with an easy smile; she didn't want Min-jung to have any clue about her discussion with Nana. She would act like a friend until she could prove that Min-jung was a scheming bitch.

Min-jung looked at her with curiosity as she sat down. She liked the girl; how had Nana gotten to know such an impressive personality?

"Yes, I'm Min-jung. You're really beautiful," Min-jung said in awe as she took note of Mi Cha's stylish dress.

Mi Cha would have felt flattered or even liked her if she wasn't so suspicious of her, So she said a simple "Thank you" and invited the waiter to take Min-Jung's order.

Mi Cha looked at Min-jung as she ate and laughed while she talked to Nana, "I'm curious about something though since I've never really had a best friend... Have you both never liked the same guy? Or fought over a guy before?" Mi Cha asked with her eyes fixed on Min-Jung.

Min-jung froze with the spoon halfway into her mouth. Why was she asking such a question? Did she know something? Her heart thumped loudly as she raised her eyes to look at Mi Cha.

Nana giggled good-naturedly at the question. "That's ridiculous. Neither of us would do something of that nature. I'm sure if we ever found ourselves in such a situation, we would let the guy go," Nana said, with so much confidence that Mi Cha felt like hitting her head with the bowl.

Nana patted Min-Jung's hand trustingly. "Thanks for being such a good friend, Min-jung. We keep hearing stories about girls backstabbing their friends, but you've remained so true to our friendship," Nana said, looking at Min-Jung with teary eyes.

Min-jung swallowed nervously and smiled, "Thanks for being a good friend too. Your friendship means so much to me," Min-Jung said and turned to Mi Cha. "I hope we can be good friends too?" She inquired.

"I hope so too," Mi Cha said with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. I can never be friends with a pretender, She said to herself.

Girls like Min-jung were capable of murder, and she made it her life's work to keep them at arm's length.

Soon Min-jung and Nana started talking about something she didn't know, she knew it was time to leave so the two of them really could talk about whatever it was they couldn't say in her presence, but she couldn't leave them without knowing the details of whatever they were going to discuss.

She picked up her phone and checked the time; it was just 8 pm. She knew exactly what she was going to do. Nana was sitting closer to her than Min-jung was, so her handbag was closer.

Mi Cha pretended to stretch and pushed Nana's handbag on the floor, causing the contents to spill on the ground. "How clumsy of me; I'm so sorry," She said as she bent down to pick it up.

She slipped her phone inside Nana's bag along with the other contents and placed it back on the table.

"It's been a long day, ladies. I'll leave you two best friends to catch up on each other's lives. It's been fun hanging out with you both. I'll go sort out the bills and be on my way," Mi Cha said amidst their polite protest and left them with a smile.

Tan would be very proud of her when he found out what she had done, and that was all the reward that she needed.
