The Love Triangle 3

I scoffed as I reread Eric's message. Of course, he wouldn't say anything nice to the man who gave me worth. He just wanted to let me feel that Sean just played with my feelings because he perhaps thought he was taking advantage of my vulnerability. He tried to prove it to me that I didn't deserve any special affection from powerful men like them, and that only he could bear with someone like me. I would never allow him to break my self-esteem again.

The bed at my right ride side sank, and soon, Sean's arms draped around me. He then pulled me up and placed my head in his chest.

"Have you already decided on the design of your gown?" Sean asked as he stroke my hair with his fingers.

I shook my head then wrapped my hand around his abdomen, hugging him tightly. Though I already started to harbor doubts at him, every time he showed me his gentle and caring ways, I always melted like wax against a burning candle. It felt so good to have someone to care for me, even if at that moment, I was no longer sure about Sean's sincerity.

However, two voices kept speaking at the back of my mind, and one always said that Sean was as truthful as he showed, while the other suggested to open my eyes and look at him behind his disguise.

"Then start browsing the net for designs. When you feel a little better, I'll have the designer come over so that he can already start," Sean said, pulling me out from my racing thoughts about him.

I nodded again and buried my face in his chest. The fresh scent of his shirt diffused with the light fragrance of his musk, making me feel good. For a few days, I always smelled the strong odor of antiseptics and cleaners inside the ICU. He rubbed my back and started to tell me many things about his plans.

"I can't wait to bring you home and show you your grandpa's place."

"My grandpa?" my mind repeated these words, raising these as a question. I raised my head to look up to him, but my head hit his chin, hindering me from seeing his face.

Sean kissed the top of my head and said, "Get well soon, sweetheart. A lot of surprises await for you during the party."

I could only nod and hug him as my responses, but Sean continued talking to me like I was responding normally.

"I can't wait to bring you to Australia and see what's in store for you. I also hope that on that day, you can already make up your mind."

"Make up what?" I asked myself, but to him, I gave out furrowed brows, indicating my confusion.

"Make up your mind to marry me," he smiled, patting the top of my head.

My eyes flew open, wondering about his sincerity. I was already expecting that one of these days, he would call our relationship off. I would understand if he would; providing his child home was more important than losing me. Half the part of me accepted the fact that I was just staying to enjoy the moments of being loved and pampered, even if it could be fake.

"But only when you're ready," he added, perhaps interpreting my silent response as my way of refusing to his proposal.

Another knocking on the door disrupted our sweet, little talk. Since we were at the hospital, anyone, especially the hospital staff, could come in without having to wait for someone to open the door. To my surprise, the person standing by the door was someone I never wished to see me cuddled by another man.

"Just dropping by to see if you are well," he smiled then turned around to go, but then, he stopped and looked over his right shoulder. "I'll talk to your doctor and ask if I can take you home tomorrow. I can hire nurses to take care of you there while you recuperate."

Sean sat up abruptly, and I knew trouble was coming next. My adrenaline worked alongside my fear that I got the strength to push him down. Sean was about to get up again, but I climbed on top of him, pushing his head back on the pillow. He sighed and stared at me; his face was still flushing. I held his face and began kissing him until he held the back of my head and kissed me back. I no longer knew how long did Eric watch us, and when did he leave. I didn't care anymore if he saw me flirting with my new boyfriend; he was asking for it, anyway.

"I'll get you home first," Sean said between his panting, "if he can hire doctors and nurses, we also have our team. Dr. Mimi and the rest can take care of you in Laminae."

I cupped Sean's face again and smacked a kiss on his lips. When I withdraw my face away from him, I lifted his chin to let him look at me and do lip-reading. "I want to go home. Now."

Sean nodded and gently placed me back on the bed. Then, he sat up and reached out for his phone.

"Dr. Mimi, I'm going to bring Red to Laminae. Can you please talk to her doctor for an endorsement? I can't let any other doctor come into my territory."

"Doc, we are so sorry. We want to go home against medical advice. We are under threat, and we don't wish to get you involved..."

"Philip, please bring my car over to Laminae. I'm going to leave the keys to the parking attendant."

"Ma'am, kindly forward Dr. Nelson's bill to Laminae, Inc."

"Sir, kindly send the company ambulance to TAG Medical Center right now..."

I smiled as I listened to Sean's continuous calls. Furthermore, I was happy that he was willing to defend me from Eric.

In less than an hour, the orderlies wheeled me to the waiting ambulance in front of the hospital. Sean walked by my side, and he also sat beside me inside the ambulance, holding my hand As the driver turned the engine on, Sean suddenly called out.

"Stop!"

The driver turned the engine off, and I guessed all of us turned to look at him. I also sat up and followed his eyes. He was staring at the sleek, black car on the other lane. With just a mere glance, anyone could tell that the car was one of the expensive models of the year.

"Philip?"
