Eleventh Death

Mike's eleventh death in the game.

The same notification flashed in his simulator and Mike ignored it as usually.

" You have been slain by Elementalist Drizzling Rain. Death Penalty - 10 bronze coins. Respawn? "

He inwardly sighed. He was playing this game , [Legend World] for almost two months but he had not even reached the Level 1 of his combat class, which was a Healer Job [Priest].

Either his firepower was actually so small rooting from his class, or he was too kind to see his teammates die; he would be deducted some wealth and lose some items.

Right now, he was completely stripped of all his game currency and lost his Common [Magic Ring] which was his only weapon.

"Am I really that unlucky?"

Mike couldn't help but ask himself. He was now sitting on a rock in the outskirts of the game's town Orange Star , which was near a forest.

He had nothing right now, not even his only weapon and was starting again from scratch, back at the forest to earn some dimes.

He checked his system panel, and studied if there was more to him that would possibly be of use.

"Level 3 Primitive Wanderer … Level 0 Priest" Mike repeated the data on his system panel and pitied himself. Not only did he lack skills, he was even devoid of weapons.

Although he was supposed to have a better chance of survival because of his combat class, he was only used as a cannon fodder to other teams that only pitied him.

He had tried entering the Healers Guild to inquire about his locked passive ability [Healer's Instinct] thru the jade talisman that he acquired upon entering the Priest Class.

But the guard only told him to advance to Level 1 Priest first.

He had tried and experienced deaths, respawned and died again, but he was still a long mile away to being in that poor Level 1 advancement.

"Seems like I could only wait for tomorrow to cultivate my level." Mike sighed in distress. He retreated to his cave shelter from which he first respawned and logged off from the game.

Mike removed the gaming cap from his head and placed it unto the table before retreating back to his bed, sitting there with a face full of sadness.

"If I continue to be like this, I can't even get the chance of entering in the city tournament." Mike said, still retaining his gloomy expression on his face.

He was a youth of 16, living alone in a bungalow house in a secluded area. He was orphaned just a month ago and was hardly able to eat decent food.

The life Mike had before his parents died was far way too noble and elegant than this sh*tty environment. He could play in content, open his mouth to be fed and raise his arms to be clothed.

Bur this happy life ended when his mom and dad died in a car accident, leaving the immature Mike behind. And as this rich brat knew no job, he slowly spent all the remaining money and was driven to this secluded forest area, as was his place in the game too.

At that time, he was a Swordsman and was close to reaching Level 15. But when he played the game again, he found it, to his dismay, reset and had a new combat class, one that Mike loathed about.

It was a harmless Priest!

One that didn't even pose a threat to others and could only be formidable when standing behind the shadows of other classes.

Mike massaged his temples, trying to calm himself down, before grabbing the cap and logged in onto the game again.

He found himself sitting on the hump of leaves he usually called 'bed' and started to leave the shelter.

Upon leaving, he broke a branch of a tree and used it as a weapon, as he could only use primitive styles to level up.

Luckily, this forest was rich in weak creatures, and killing them would give him a small amount of EXP. If he killed more than a hundred of it, he could advance to the next level and start his way to level 3, which was the prerequisite of the city tournament.

"In this state, I have to be more merciless. I have no choice." Mike deeply sighed and continued to dive through the deeper parts of the forest.

Whilst walking he noticed a notification float in the system panel which said, "Nature Affinity activated. Luck +1."

Mike ignored it. He had been gaming in misfortune but the system calls it luck? Pfft, what luck was in misfortune?

Suddenly, he heard a howl which seemed to be nearing him. He got hold of his 'sword' and put up a casual defensive stance. This time, he was in a state of seriousness, for he had to cultivate quickly.

"Ao!"

The howl deepened and continued to near Mike, while the latter firmly stood there, ready to beat the creature with his lame weapon.

"Ao!"

It howled out again and the bushes nearby hustled and went nearer and nearer.

Rustle!

Mike gripped his hold and patiently waited for the other party to show itself.

A figure suddenly jumped from the bushes and leaped towards Mike with its maw wide open, its tongue flicking!

It was actually a Level 0 [Summoner Wolf]!

At this speed, it would be impossible for Mike to dodge nor to block the velocity of this one!

He had to rely on his Endurance to stand this charge.

But when it reached him, it suddenly retracted back its claws and licked Mike in the face!

If somebody else saw this scene, they would be frightened!

A [Summoner Wolf] was actually behaving like an ordinary dog that missed its owner!

Mike stumbled to the ground and his weapon fell with him as the wolf wagged its tail and stood on his body.

"What the … " Mike didn't have any time to react when a new notification floated in the system panel.
