Angel's Favor

Mike finally reached the Healers Guild, unscathed, well except for his stamina.

He stepped up near the entrance and greeted the guardian who was standing there.

"I see you are already a Lvl. 1." The guardian chattered to Mike.

"Just some luck perhaps?" Mike shortly said. He didn't have that much time to waste and showed his jade talisman.

The guard silently nodded and opened the stone door to the Guild.

Mike entered the Guild, and found no one in there. He just approached one of the chairs on the front and sat there, with a blank expression on his face.

He waited for a while, until a winged woman with a halo above her head appeared from a room.

Mike didn't dare launch [Identify] on her, since she might suspect he was spying her.

"Well, well, well. Our first Guild member after so many years." The woman spoke mockeringly, as if she was not the Guild Leader at all.

"Where is the Guild Leader, Madam? And why am I the only one in here? Where are the others?" He questioned consecutively that the woman couldn't help but wrinkle her forehead.

"One at a time my dear. I am Angel, the Guild Leader. If you ask why you are alone in here, it might either be that no one ever applied for a Healer Job or are still struggling to reach their Lvl. 1." Angel answered, her beautiful face reoccupied by a gloomy expression.

"What brings you here anyway?" Angel did not wait for Mike to reply, and instantly questioned him.

"I am here to inquire about my locked passive ability. Mike quickly retorted, standing up from his chair and approaching the counter from which Angel stood.

"As I had anticipated *sigh*" she whispered in a low voice.

"You were saying?"

"Oh, nothing.", she sat on the chair of the counter and offered Mike a seat.

Mike followed obediently, with Wolfy right before his feet.

"Fill this up. Anything false you write shall be punished by myself." She then handed a leather piece about the size of a bondpaper and a quill dripping in ink.

Account name … Healer Job Category … and all those other vital information were asked in the questionnaire.

Mike completed it in no time and returned the leather back to Angel.

However, before he could give the slip back to her, she immediately stood up and raised both of her arms, as if to pray.

"[Truth Light]!"

She flapped her wings and the light on her halo stroke Mike's abdomen.

He didn't budge, as this was the truth – identifying skill only available to Guild Leaders.

He once seen in his own eyes how the Guild Leader of Swordsmen killed a scheming imposter with his [Sword Wave]. Thus, he dared not to provoke Guild Leaders.

Angel suddenly stopped on flapping her wings as she descended back to the chair.

"Passed. Tell me your Passive Ability so I can unlock it. Is it [God Provocation] or [Heavenly Revival]?" Angel asked directly, mentioning two of Healer Job Passive Abilities.

It wasn't like she had engaged with those things though. It was just being a Guild Leader was this special.

[God Provocation]

Summon a deity to retaliate 3s upon your death.

[Heavenly Revival]

Have a 50 percent chance of reviving after death. Usable once per day.

Mike simply disapproved both of them , shaking his head in disagreement.

"[Demon Restraint]? [Illness Protection] ? Or, don't tell me you also have my [Healer's Instinct]!" she asked out again, now full of disbelief.

Mike was surprised that she mentioned [Healer's Instinct] in her question.

"I – uh."

"What?" she impatiently asked.

"I do have [Healer's Instinct]." Mike answered, closing his eyes by interval.

She seemed to doubt for a bit, and studied Mike more closely.

"You can try prove my veracity.", Mike confidently suggested.

"Just to make sure …"

She rose from the ground again, flying in mid – air.

"[Truth Light]!"

He was struck by another ray again before Angel finally spoke.

"You do have the rare [Healer's Instinct]. However, before that , you must do me a favor."

"What favor?" Mike inserted and immediately blurted out.

"Let me finish talking!" she yelled, which made Mike lower his head.

"Go to the [Dark Forest] and defeat 100 slimes." She thriftily said, playing with her [Heavenly Light].

"T – The Dark Forest?" he said in shock.

"Is there a big deal?" she asked, raising her left brow.

"No, but a hundred slimes? Do you want me to die?!" Mike stood up, and shouted in front of her face.

"Then make it fifty."

"Well, I – uh." Mike ate his words.

"Now what? Hurry up before I change my mind!" she said, her face showing a tinge of irritation.

Mike stood up again, and exited the Guild without any other violent reaction.

After talking with Angel, a quest appeared in his system, entitled "Angel's Favor."

[Angel's Favor] (7 days remaining)

Defeat 50 slime monsters and bring their flesh.

Rewards : ???

He had expected this to appear, as he also received one from his previous account, which asked him to forge 3 Common Swords.

After exiting the Guild though, he revealed a sinister grin. He just put this on show, he really wanted to cultivate there at the Dark Forest, all he needed was a deeper reason. He wouldn't simply go there if that was only to level up, as the place was terribly far.

However, now that he had a more excusable reason to go, he will definitely cultivate at the Dark Forest whilst slaying 50 slimes.

Mike returned to his shelter and clutched Wolfy with his arms.

"Time to eat." Mike said before logging off. He had just took a glance of the time and knew it was nearly noon.

He removed the holographic cap, and went to the stove to cook noodles.

It was a stove formed by setting three big rocks to elevate the wok, with the fire under.

Mike opened a pack of noodles, and poured a half of its contents to the water in the wok.

He also put half only of the seasonings.

And that was the life of a poor Mike, only eating once in a day, before playing the game and trying to earn.

He had earned some dollars in his Swordsman account by selling second- hand weapons and equipments , often which of the buyers paid with dollars.

And now that he had lost his account that may have saved him from poverty, he could only live humbly, and eat humbly.
