Grievous Pain

CHAPTER 6 – Grievous Pain

Mike left together with Wolfy to the town.

The location of the Healer Guild was quite some distance, and it took them almost noon to reach the town market.

"Buying herbs, paying with dollars."

"Buying fruits, paying with dollars."

"Selling second- hand equipment. Price is negotiable."

"Hiring alchemists! Wage in dollars.

The market bustled with loud noises as each vendor of stalls shouted to grab attention.

Mike felt a hand put on him, so he quickly turned back to see who it was.

He saw a pretty sobbing woman hold his hand, and sorrow could be seen on her face.

"You are a Healer? Could you please help me? I only have a bit HP left before I die." The woman spoke to him, almost crying while holding Mike's hand.

Before that though, he had launched [Identify] before she could speak.

HP ?

He squinted his eyes and replied to the maiden.

"50 bronze coins." Mike thriftily replied.

The look on her face deepened, seemingly saying she had no money.

However, he did this on purpose. He had wanted to heal this lady if it weren't for the fact that she was scheming over him. He had already noticed her left hand reach for his pocket.

After all, he was not someone foolish enough to feed the mouths of those that bite him.

However, he was thoroughly surprised that she had replied.

"There, take my 10 bronze coins. I shall repay you after some time." The woman retorted again.

"How can I be assured? You are but a stranger to me after all." Mike coldly snorted.

"What is your account name? Let us add each other as friends so that we can keep contact." She replied again, and that made Mike shiver.

He had wrongly accused someone!

"O – Okay. The name's Grievous Pain." Mike replied with his account name, but he felt at a loss of words.

"Done! I've sent you a friend request."

He then saw a new notification appear from the upper left of the simulator.

"Accept [Red Flame Mistress]'s request?"

Mike needed money for the meantime, and this pitiful amount could help him.

If it weren't for him lacking money, he would've simply flicked her away. She wasn't worth his Mana usage anyway.

"Here's your 10 coins, Pain. Let me lead you to my shelter." Mistress addressed him, opening her palm and gave him the coins.

Mike quickly received it, as if there was no tomorrow.

This action slightly surprised the lady.

"I have one word." Mike said, defending his coins as if he was facing a Thief.

This was money, he wouldn't let it turn to stone!

Mistress continued to beckon for him but Mike simply rejected.

"No need, let me heal you right here and right now." Mike quickly retorted, juggling the coins in his left palm.

Mistress was surprised. He offered to heal her right this instant and this place. This was a busy market; was this man trying to show off?

"I'm serious. Now prepare before I change my mind." Mike's tone contained impatience, he was in a hurry to the Guild and to appraise his ring after all.

The woman stopped and straightened her posture, as she closed her eyes.

Mike raised his right index finger to the sun, before pointing it again towards Mistress.

"[Holy Light]!"

A fiery looking ray flew from his finger, flying at a crazy velocity and approached her in no time at all.

The light caught everyone's attention, everyone including the vendors went out of their stalls and looked out to Mike who was pointing his finger to the woman.

"Is he asking for imprisonment?"

"How dare someone to act recklessly in a public place!"

The people shared glances as they murmured to what was transpiring before them.

"Why are the guards not here yet? Is this game bugged?" a vendor from afar shouted which aroused the suspicions of others.

"The guards are biased"

"They are paid by this sh*tty man."

The light pierced the woman's figure, who was just standing still there and closing her eyes.

Seeing this, everyone gasped in unison.

Is she waiting to die?

When suddenly, a man arrived from behind and shouted in his loud voice.

"HE IS HEALING THIS WOMAN!" he shouted loudly that his HP was lashed by 5.

Everyone was shocked, and anyone can see the look on their faces as if they have seen a ghost.

Healing?

Is that the reason the guards did not show up?

Mike didn't mind the audience, as he truly didn't have any business with them.

He just put the coins in his hand to his pouch in his pocket.

What effortless money!

Or rather not, since it also came with his spending of Mana.

The woman slowly opened her eyes, rubbing them as if she had just awoken from a deep sleep.

She saw Mike slowly leaving away.

"Wait! Where does my benefactor live?" she called out to Mike's disappearing figure.

"In the forest. You'll find a cave there. I live there." Mike turned around and stopped his track, replying to Mistress.

He then continued to speed up towards and his figure completely vanished from view.

And silence.

Oh, there was a sound.

The sound of silence.

Mistress broke the silence and said out loud.

"What the ruckus is this? Why are you staring at me like that?!"

But deep inside, she knew she was one of those people who were shocked by this mysterious Priest.

That was because she had her HP bar of 120 filled to the brim!

The people slowly dispersed away and the vendors entered their respective stores again.

Mistress left the market and headed back to her shelter.

"A cave in a forest. I shall remember that … and my debt too, Pain." She silently murmured as she left the area.

That was not because she had no money, but she had regained her vitality in tip top condition again.
