After his encounter with the treasure hoarders Mathis continued walking down the dirt path. ' Since I'm in Teyvat or at least I assume I am I should find a way to head to Liyue Harbor or the City of Mondstadt whichever is closer , but the problem is I have no idea where I am.' As he was thinking of what to do next he noticed a figure up ahead. It was a white haired boy who wore goggles on his head and a bandage on his nose. 'Is that Bennet he looks just like his character in the game, and if he's here then I'm probably in the region of Mondstadt. It's kind of exciting seeing a character I've played in a video game in person, but I've got to stay calm and approach him pretending I don't know who he is.' Mathis made his way towards Bennet to ask him for his help. "Hey my name is Mathis do you know the way to the City of Mondstadt I'm not from around here so I've gotten lost."
"Hey nice to meet you I'm Bennet leader of Benny's adventure team I'd be glad to help you the City of Mondstadt is in that direction I'll take you right there." Bennet said with excitement . Mathis and Bennet began walking towards Mondstadt while chatting Mathis asked what being an adventurer was like. "I usually go on an adventure in search of treasure sometimes I fight hilichurls and other cool monsters, but I usually end up with a few cuts ad bruises and with no treasure to be seen but Barbara usually patches me right up ." Bennet told Mathis. "Being an adventurer seems tough, I wish you luck on your next adventure." Mathis replied. "Even though it can get difficult on adventures it's really fun even when there's nothing in the end I think the adventure itself is a reward." After hearing what he said Mathis felt like Bennet was just like his cheerful game counterpart.
After a long walk they had finally arrived at the gate of Mondstadt. After waving at the two guards on both sides of the gate Mathis and Bennet entered the city. 'Wow the city of Mondstadt is huge the game made it feel so small. I feel like I'm in the medieval ages with buildings like these everywhere.' After staring at the buildings and streets around him Mathis couldn't help but have these thoughts. "Well we've made it back to Mondstadt I'll be heading to the church to visit Barbara if you need any help you can always look for Benny's adventure team." Bennet said with a smile.
After parting ways with Bennet Mathis wanted to go and meet Katheryne at the adventurers guild. He was currently broke with no money to his name so he had to find a way to make money and being an adventurer seemed like a good choice. Although the streets of Mondstadt were longer than in the game the layout was the same so Mathis knew were to go to reach the adventurer guild. 'Alright there it is, after all those times when I claimed daily commissions no way I would forget where to go.'
"Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurers Guild." After walking up to Katheryne Mathis heard the familiar line and responded. "Hello I'd like to register to join the adventurers guild. "Before you do would you like a summary of the adventurers guild and what we provide." "Sure." Seeing no reason to refuse Mathis accepted the explanation. "The Adventurers' Guild is an organization that was set up to support all of Teyvat's adventurers, all across the seven nations. Here at the adventurers guild we provide a platform to help newcomers adjust to the adventurer lifestyle, while also supporting veteran adventurers and allowing them to adventure more freely. The Guild collects all the complex word-of-mouth information it receives and redistributes it in the form of quests and adventures assigned to adventurers. Do you have any questions?" After listening to what Katheryne had said Mathis felt like he had already understood the basics of the adventurers guild. "I do have a few questions, but they're not exactly related to the adventurers guild I was wondering if there has been any news about Stormterror."
Mathis was hoping on gaining information on whether or not Aether or Lumine had arrived in Mondstadt yet by seeing if they had fought off Stormterror yet. " Well Stormterror has been causing quite a few problems in the region and with the amount of storm terror attacks the bustling streets of Mondstadt have become much quieter." Nodding at Katherynes response he continued. "Has anyone been able to fight off Stormterror." "The knights of Favonius have been having trouble finding a way to deal with the Stormterror threat but to no avail." Smiling Mathis responded "Thank you that's all I needed to know I'll be visiting the adventurers guild soon to accept some commissions." Mathis walked off deep in thought while Katheryne looked at his back as he got farther and farther she couldn't help but think 'He's a strange one.'
As Mathis walked down the streets of Mondstadt he began to think of the information Katheryne had given him.' I'm guessing Aether or Lumine haven't arrived in Mondstadt yet since it seemed like no one has confronted Stormterror yet, but I don't know how long it will be till then it could be a day a week or even a month till he or she arrives. Right now I should focus on finding a place to stay for the night it's getting dark maybe I could sleep at Angel's Share on the second floor in the back somewhere until it's closing time since it's a tavern it'll probably close really late.' After deciding on what to do for the night Mathis made his way towards Angel's Share and entered the tavern. Unlike the quiet streets the inside of the tavern was bustling with people all around chatting and drinking. Mathis unsuspectingly walked up to the second floor which had a lot less people and sat at a table in the corner. 'I'll try to get as much sleep as I can before it's closing time hopefully they don't kick me out for sleeping here. It'll take them some time to notice me anyway with the amount of customers they have and with me being on the second floor.
Mathis closed his eyes and rest his head on the table after a while of doing his best to ignore all the noise around him he managed to fall asleep. Just as he fell asleep he suddenly opened his eyes, but to his surprise he wasn't in the tavern anymore but in a pitch black room with 7 familiar white glowing symbols floating around him.
