Mathis looked around confused and carefully examined each one of the floating symbols around him. 'I was just at the tavern what's going on, where am I and why are the symbols of the seven elements around me.' Mathis was full of questions as he looked around the room seeing that there was no clear exit he walked up to one of the symbols and tried touching it but his hand just went through it. As he turned around to look for any clues to help him understand where he was he saw a glowing ball of light form in front of his face. He instinctively took a step back as he looked at the ball of light. It began to move around the room as if it was looking for something.
Mathis watched as it circled around and entered one of the symbols suddenly the symbol began to glow dark blue. 'If I'm correct the symbol for hydro is the one that's glowing right now, but is that it, I was kind of expecting more than the symbol starting just starting to glow.' As he began to feel underwhelmed a tall door with beautiful designs began to form behind the hydro symbol. Once it was fully formed Mathis stared at the open door but all he could see inside of the door was blue light, he looked around the room one more time and decided to approach the mysterious door.
'Well there's no where else to go and I don't know how long I'll be stuck here if I stay in this room so I'll take the risk.' As he stood in front of the door Mathis reluctantly put his left hand into the door and just when he was about to put his foot in the door sucked him in and closed. With a plop Mathis landed on the ground that was covered by a layer of water. 'Great now my clothes are wet, but at least the water level barely covers my feet so drowning definitely won't be a problem.'
As he began to look the new room he was in around a humanoid figure made out of water began to form a short distance away. Once it completely formed Mathis started to look around to see if there was anywhere he could escape if the creature was to suddenly attack him. Looking around at the turquoise walls with intricate designs he quickly realized there was no way out. "Can you understand me or do you know how to speak." Seeing as the water figure had a humanoid shape Mathis made an attempt to speak to it although he asked if it could understand him he didn't expect a response, but when he heard one there was a look of surprise on his face.
'Water is the essence of life without water life can not exist.' Mathis suddenly heard a soothing voice speak these words in his head. He couldn't help but wonder 'It can speak directly into my head! Can it read my mind as well?' 'Open your hand and imagine water forming upon it. Whether it is from the ponds, rivers or seas call it to you.' As the water creature said this it stuck out its hand and a ball of water appeared above it. Mathis did as he said sticking out his hand and imaged the water appearing. He began to think of the water in the ocean and did what the creature said by calling upon it.
Suddenly in his palm a ball of water appeared in his hand. 'I didn't think it would work, but it actually did.' Mathis thought with a look of excitement. 'Grasp the water control, shape, and reform it.' As the water creature was saying this it closed it's hand and the water began to stretch out and take shape once it was completed it looked like a trident. Mathis attempted to copy the water creature once again as he grasped the water and slowly controlled it trying to shape it, but as he began to stretch it out the water broke apart falling into the ground. Mathis frowned as he attempted again only to fail again.
'This water creature made it look way easier than it actually is.' After a few more attempts Mathis began to understand how to keep the water together as he finally managed to make the water trident. He was also surprised at how light and solid it felt while he was holding it. He looked at the water creature expecting it to tell him what to do next but it simply faced him as if it were waiting for something. 'Maybe it wants me to keep doing it until I can do it consistently.' He guessed and continued his practice at forming the trident. After a while he eventually got the hang of it and was able to summon the trident quickly without much difficulty.
'The power of water is its ability to take any shape. Now go and see for yourself the power of water.' Just as he was about to ask what it meant the room began to ripple and the water creature began to sink into the ground and in the blink of an eye Mathis was suddenly in another room although it was very similar to the one he was in before with the water humanoid but instead of a humanoid figure of water he was face to face with a single hilichurl holding a club.
As he looked closely at the creature in front of him he gripped the trident in his hand tighter. The first thoughts that came to his mind were. 'Here we go again.'
