Chapter 5 - Commission

Mathis walked through the streets of Mondstadt looking at the various buildings and shops. 'I haven't eaten anything in almost two days, but I don't have any mora to buy food. The sun is rising I should head to the adventurers guild to see if there are any commissions I can do.' Mathis made his way to the adventurers guild where he saw Katheryne standing there as usual and walked up to her. "Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurers Guild. Are you here for a commission?" Katheryne asked as she looked at him.

"Yes I am can you tell me what commissions I can choose from." He responded. As Katheryne began listing commissions he could do he began to notice a problem. 'I don't know how to get to most of the areas to do tasks like gathering specific items or dealing with a specific group of monsters. I wish I could buy a map but again I don't have any mora.' Mathis sighed and decided on which one to pick. "So one of the Knights of Favonius Guy seems to need help with something and I can find him at the side gate? If that's the case I'll go and see what he needs. "Mathis said his goodbye to Katheryne and head towards City of Mondstadts side gate.

Once he arrived he saw a brown haired man wearing armor quietly guarding the gate with a look of dismay. Mathis walked up to him and asked "Is your name Guy by any chance." Guy responded "Yes that's my name do you need anything?" "Actually I came to ask you if you need anything instead. I'm from the adventurers guild and I heard that you may be in need of some assistance." Guy looked at Mathis as if he was considering telling Mathis his problems, but eventually he told Mathis his troubles.

"Oh, um... My father his name is Tunner, he works at Dawn Winery. He was thrilled when he heard I joined the Knights of Favonius and every time he writes to me that's all he asks about. The problem is all I do is guard a gate! And a side gate at that, my father is always anticipating news about my heroic exploits. I tell him that I'm out fighting battles and all that, but I'm telling him all these stories without a shred of proof I'm afraid he's going to catch on. Since you're and adventurer could you bring me back a trophy. I would do it myself, but if I leave my post I'm afraid I'll lose my job."

After listening to Guy's story Mathis nodded and asked "What type of trophy do you need me to get you." "A hilichurl mask should be enough." After saying goodbye Mathis began to walk out of Mondstadt. 'I guess I'll look near Mondstadt until I find a hilichurl. After what I experienced from fighting those hilichurls in that room it shouldn't be hard if It's just one I just have to avoid groups.'

Mathis decided to search the outskirts of The City of Mondstadt for lone hilichurls. During his search he found several groups of hilichurls some even had Mitachurls among them, but Mathis did his best to avoid those. Eventually he found a pair of hilichurls sitting around what seemed to be a cooking pot. 'This will probably be the best I can find although there's two of them I can beat them. I learned my lesson from last time and I also have the element of surprise on my side.

Mathis quietly maneuvered behind the trees until he was a short distance away. 'There's nothing to hide behind from where I am to where they are. I've got to make a sprint for it.' As Mathis looked at the unsuspecting hilichurls he readied himself to charge at the them. After a few seconds he burst through the trees with a Trident in his hand and pierced one of the hilichurls through the back of the head. The other one quickly grabbed its club and got up ready to fight. Mathis quickly turned to his side stabbing the the second hilichurl and it fell to the ground as quickly as it had gotten up.

'Wow I'm getting pretty good at using this trident maybe I have a talent for it.' He thought with a smile. He quickly took the masks off the faces of the hilichurls and couldn't help but think. 'So this is what they look like underneath the mask I never expected them to look like this.' As he began to return to Mondstadt he began to think about the rewards for commissions. 'The adventure guild gives rewards to an adventurer after doing a certain amount of commissions a day. I need to do a few more before I can claim the reward from the adventurers guild, but Guy will probably pay me for doing this for him.'

As he arrived at the side gate Mathis waved at Guy and handed him one of the masks. "Thank you so much for the help here take this it's all I can give you right now, I really appreciate the help." Mathis looked at the mora Guy handed to him and responded with a smile. "It's not a problem at all I'm glad to help if you need anything in the future you can go to the guild and ask Katheryne to relay the message." As Mathis began to turn around was about to go Guy stopped him. "I'm sorry, but can you do one more thing for me, could you deliver this letter and the mask to my father for me. Please don't open it though he's sensitive to things like these he might think it was tampered with."

Just as Mathis was about to respond the the wind suddenly began to blow aggressively and the skies became cloudy. A large shadow could be seen quickly flying over the City of Mondstadt and shortly after a large roar echoed. As he looked up Mathis couldn't help, but call out a name as it looked at the dragon overhead. "Stormterror!"
