Chapter 4 Lilian

Lilian watched as the panicked soldier run into the main hallway as soon as the door was opened by the maid. The maid had squealed in panicked when she was pushed out of the way by the soldier.

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!" He shouted down the hallway as he ran towards the King. "Arden! There's a small fleet of Arden soldiers headed this way!"

After hearing this Lilian and the King locked eyes, and when he nodded she knew she was to stop them. She ran down the stairs to the servant hallway, and ran to the archery.

Once there she grabbed a belt to hold her weapons as she ran. She grabbed the lightest sword, that one was always her's, for it gave her speed. She also grabbed a small knife.

Lilian is a skilled warrior and assassin, which made it easy for her to use both a sword and a small knife in either of her hands.

She ran out of the room and out that main doors. There was a carriage waiting for her filled with the best soldiers. They were waiting on her, even though she had only been a minute, to them a minute was slow, since they were already geared full time.

The other soldiers seemed not to like her, weather it was because she was female or because she was close with the King, she didn't know. She just knew that they dislike her by their glares and disapproving faces.

She slide into the carriage and closed the door behind her. As soon as the door clicked shut the driver kicked the horses into gear and she was moving at a furious pace along the long bridge.

Lilian did her best to look out the window to stop where the attackers were. At the beginning of the bridge she could make out many bodies. They seemed to be moving, but she was too far away to tell. That must be them.

As they near the sea of bodies, she began to distinguish the red of her enemy and the blue of her kingdom.

She was suddenly worried about the dress, it was her favorite, and now it would be covered in blood. But she was glad she was wearing a dress, it was easier to move around in.

The carriage came to a sudden stop a short distance away from the mob. Everyone filed out of the door of the carriage and onto the bridge.

Once everyone was out, they ran, just as they practiced, towards the battle. The sound of swords sliding out of their scabbard and the sounds of running footsteps were echoed over the bridge.

They rushed through their lines of allies and met the attacking Arden forces head on. They fan out along the width of the bridge.

Metal clashed against metal. The screams of the injured, the cries of the brave, and swords clashing filled the air.

Lilian ran to her first prey. He looked amused by what she was wearing. She would wipe that shit eating grin off his face soon enough.

She ran with her sword in her left and her knife in her right. Her left arm was stronger than her right, which was better for her to lift and wield the sword. While her right hand was more coordinate than her left, making it better to use the knife.

She raised her sword across her body, ready to strike. The man came at her, but she was faster. Soon his head was falling to the ground and Lilian was searching for her next target.

She jumped over bodies laying dead on the ground. As she ran through the enemy's lines, looking for the strongest for a fun fight, she slit the throats from the weaklings she past.

Then she found an almost empty area. There was one big Arden soldier facing many of her soldiers. She could see the dead bodies in blue laying around them. She needed to hurry. She had to stop that monster.

She ran towards that direction. Killing the red soldiers she passed. Blood covered her favorite dress now. She imagined these boots were ruined as well, the bottoms covered in blood from the sea of blood covering the cobblestones underneath her feet.

She raised her sword, ready to strike. She watched, as if everything was in slow motion, as the man started to bring his sword down on the first soldier. She was almost there. The sword was almost to its victim.

Lilian put her knife back, and placed both hands on the handle of her sword. She tightened her grip on her sword, ready for the strike. She planted her feet, her eyes never leaving the sword.

She held herself in a balanced position, readying herself in a blocking pose. She intervened the path of the attacking sword that aim to take a life.

The poor soldier didn't know what happened. When realization hit him that he almost died, he immediately started crying his eyes out, his screams of fear of what his fate would have been scared him shitless.

Her hands started to tilt down, in this battle of strength she would not come at as the victor, but she swears she will win this fight. For herself, for her fellow soldiers, for her kingdom.

She abruptly removed her sword from under the raging giant's sword. His sword flew into the dirt from the strength he had been using. The giant pulled his sword out and glared at Lilian.

His eyes traveled over her dress that was covered in blood, his mouth turning into a twisted grin. Her skin crawled under his eyes. Lilian was deeply disgusted by him. She wanted him dead.

This was a battle between strength and speed. Lilian was sure of that. She also knew she had to win. She had to destroy this giant just like all of her victims.
